Love this film,a mate of mine went to see this at the flicks,took the summer off to follow this same dream,ended up peeling spuds for a fortnight!! Pissed of home said he was knackered peeling spuds all day..lol.

I was amogst a few "extras" in the dance hall scene.The film crew wanted short hair styles and they came to what was then HMS Victory Barracks in Portsmouth for the extras.The dance hall scene was filmed in a school on the Isle of Wight and a good day was had by all, I have David Essex's autograph along with Robert Lindsays and Ringo Stars, all on the back of a piece of the script.

Ringo Starr was a disgrace compared to his legendary contemporaries from this period. Moon (JD Clover here), Bonham, Baker, Appice...the list goes on and on. Starr was sufficient and kept time - that's it. The real talent in the Beatles were at the front of the stage.

Gosh, it takes me back. I remember we were all so shocked when David Essex cut his hair for his film. It was shorter than you see here, the film starts with him in school uniform (now, THAT was droolworthy) before he drops out and leaves home.

This isn't totally fiction. Ringo worked as a waiter on a cruise ship before he became a drummer, and was playing in a band at a 'holiday camp' when John & Ringo asked him to be in the Beatles.

Na ringo starr was in a circus before he joined the beatles. He was blown out of a cannon at the finale of every show. I knew someone who used to work at the same circus as ringo he told me they were going to promote ringo to be a lion tamer but 1 night on a night off the beatlkes turned up to watch the circus and were impressed by ringo so much they asked him to be their drummer. Not many people know this.
