It is amazing that the competitors don't simply refuse to compete in this event.
The risk of serious permanent injury is insanely high.
It is too bad that the folks who run this competition don't respect the athletes.
If they did, they would never consider this event.

Impressive that he can have that weight just bouncing on his shoulder like it's nothing. I think he would get that up if there was more space for him to give it a good throw.

He didn't get it due to his height, This had nothing to due with his strength. He's definitely strong enough to get it up there he just doesn't have the reach, Look at Travis ortmayer for example, Travis got it easily due to his height, We all know travis is not stronger than derek. Height plays a huge role in this event!

i think he could do it but he didnt want to over theow it so the stone didnt hurt the guys holding the stand.

i think that was a height issue not a strength one, dereck is looking awesome, good physique too match scary strength, not the stereotipical bald fat meathead that is all to common in strongman.

being taller does make a slight difference, on the other hand ortmayer is texas stoneman, enough said. Good effort by Derek though, so close.
