I believe gman is a creation by aperature sciences, it would explain his portal availabilities, also he can place highly important people in stasis also higly skilled such as chell, next he probobly started the portal gun manufacturing, making a physical form of his power. It would also explain why he does not wish gordan to go to the borealis, to see, take, or destroy his aperature science employers creation.
Well, I think G-Man's maintarget is to push the human race to a universal dominating race. After Playing HL and Opposing Force, it seems that he's "collecting" some sort of Super Soldiers like Gordon or Adrian and bring them back again when shit starts on Earth. I personally hate Gman, he trapped Shepherd in an inescapable void (where he probably starved to death) and he has the power to just basically "turn someone off" until his employers need that person again. That being said, I love the mystery that keeps us guessing who he is.
I never liked this scene, I always assumed the door was white, not the room on the other side, so what i see here is the G-man right after he goes through the door, not him coming back out.

the vortigaunts saved gordon from hypersleep. gordon doesn't age cause he was in hypersleep in hl1. "sleeping on the job" alyx was a baby during the black mesa incident. gordon slept for a good number of years. alyx should be the same age as gordon.

My theory: Gman "invested" in you by saving you at black mesa, and now you do his work without knowing it. He saved you through the vortessence, so that's how he controls you. Eventually, the vortigaunts figure it out, and save you from his hold. At black mesa he also invests in Alyx and Dr. Vance, who both have shown signs of knowing him.
Gman= Gordan Freeman. Gordan= G Freeman-free=man G+man= Gman. Except that's him in a different world, alternate dimension, or a world/dimension that was created when Xen got to Earth in Half Life 1 or whatever. Or that's Gordan in the future and he went back in time to that he could do something that was suppose to be done, or wasn't suppose to be done. (Save a friend or something.)

I remember reading about supposed texture improvements and character model redesigns. But the greatest graphics improvement, for me at least was the flashlight's new ability to cast shadows. That made the dark sequences so much more life-life.

No, Shepard is in a "stasis" much like Gordon was in between the end of HL1 and HL2. The Gman is keeping him on the side for when he needs him. I'm sure we'll see Shepard come back.
Actually, the helicopter that Shepard was riding in was shot down before he could get the instructions to kill the scientists at black mesa. And also, when Shepard comes to, (at the beginning of opposing force after his ride crashed) is when Gordon uses the portal to go into xen which was after they had given the instructions to kill freeman and then to "forget about freeman" and evacuate the place. So Shepard never knew about any of the instructions.
Sorry about the spelling and grammar, etc. in my last post, I had to narrow it down alot to say all I wanted because of the charachter limit. They should make it so only the first 500 charachters show up and after that it has a 'read on...' sort of deal. You know what I mean?
Why would Gordon start the Resonance Cascade, leading to the downfall of Earth? Why would he offer himself he choice of either working for him - or dying?
It wouldn't make any sense for Gordon to save the entire world, only to go back in time and orchestrate it all over again.
A VALVe offical stated that the reason there is only the beginning GMAN sighting in ep1 is because he lost track of Gordons whereabouts How could he lose track of where Gordon was if he was Gordon? If he was Gordon especialy from the future then he would know exactly where Gordon was nor would he even be keeping an eye on Gordon because he wouldnt need to he would already knw how it played out Anyway all we knw about Gordons look is from concept art and that can change alot, just look at alyxs
So, if in Episode 1, if the Gman has lost track of Gordon, it could be because the Vortigaunts are distracting him from Gordon's location. Which could explain why in Episode 2, when the Vorts are healing Alyx, the Gman appears and says, "...I had to wait until your friends were otherwise occupied." I think Gman has ulterior motives for Gordon.

When referring to his investments, he could be referring to the Combine, the Vorigaunts, or Gordon himself.

The person that is Gman.. actually doesn't have a name (it is never mentioned in the game.. so what you are saying is absolutly not possible to confirm yet)
gman is just the filename of the textures of this person.. that is why the name is gman known to the world.
(Probably something to do with the fact that the G-Man doesn't like how the Vortigaunts are trying to protect Gordon, so in a sort act of frustration, he doesn't help Gordon in Episode One.)
Adrian Sheperd needs to come back someday. Maybe not in episode three as another character, but maybe in some kind of other Half Life game as the player. I think Gabe said there would be more games after episode three, so I suppose we might see him again.

Sorry about the spelling and grammar, etc. in my last post, I had to narrow it down alot to say all I wanted because of the charachter limit. They should make it so only the first 500 charachters show up and after that it has a 'read on...' sort of deal. You know what I mean?

Think for a second.
Why would Gordon start the Resonance Cascade, leading to the downfall of Earth? Why would he offer himself he choice of either working for him - or dying?
It wouldn't make any sense for Gordon to save the entire world, only to go back in time and orchestrate it all over again.

A VALVe offical stated that the reason there is only the beginning GMAN sighting in ep1 is because he lost track of Gordons whereabouts How could he lose track of where Gordon was if he was Gordon? If he was Gordon especialy from the future then he would know exactly where Gordon was nor would he even be keeping an eye on Gordon because he wouldnt need to he would already knw how it played out Anyway all we knw about Gordons look is from concept art and that can change alot, just look at alyxs

So, if in Episode 1, if the Gman has lost track of Gordon, it could be because the Vortigaunts are distracting him from Gordon's location. Which could explain why in Episode 2, when the Vorts are healing Alyx, the Gman appears and says, "...I had to wait until your friends were otherwise occupied." I think Gman has ulterior motives for Gordon.

Oh no no I wasn't calling you dense. Just the thought of him using actual money is such a simple plot element, it seems far-fetched for HL story.
When referring to his investments, he could be referring to the Combine, the Vorigaunts, or Gordon himself.
As for his benefactors, he's not talking about a person or group that's on the receiving hand of income, he's talking about who gets to pick up the pieces and benefit from all the carnage.
At least you're not saying Gman is Gordon haha.

I don't see Valve revealing who exactly Gman is. Cuz if you take away that mystery, you take away a ton of the fun from HL.

i think gman is like a mascot to make more people buy the Half life series but for the game i think it is G=government man

The person that is Gman.. actually doesn't have a name (it is never mentioned in the game.. so what you are saying is absolutly not possible to confirm yet)
gman is just the filename of the textures of this person.. that is why the name is gman known to the world.

G-Man seems angrier than usual in this cutscene.
(Probably something to do with the fact that the G-Man doesn't like how the Vortigaunts are trying to protect Gordon, so in a sort act of frustration, he doesn't help Gordon in Episode One.)

Adrian Sheperd needs to come back someday. Maybe not in episode three as another character, but maybe in some kind of other Half Life game as the player. I think Gabe said there would be more games after episode three, so I suppose we might see him again.
