we use big tankers for the reason that the quicker you can get more water onto the fire the better. and if we had little trucks every fire would be a complete loss from not having enough water on site, i work in a small community and we have a tanker about the same size. and we have only lost a couple of houses in the past year because of it.

I'ma firefighter in the country Brazil. Do you have equipment and vehicles, trucks world first for us. Here only works for those who like that is precarious and wages are low.
For people that are asking about the tanker at the .50 mark. The truck is from Smyrna, DE (Citizens' Hose Company No. 1 Inc of Smyrna, DE). It is a 89' KW T800, and the trailer is a 86'. It holds 6,000gals of water and has a Ford 1.3lite engine mounted on the trailer as the pump. Used for any fires outside of hyd. area, muterul aid, and whenever OIC needs it. Someone asked about needing CDL's and the answer is NO you dont with DE law dealing with emergancy vehicles. Also it has LED lights now.
@johnsmithy667 Tankers can also be used for grass fires or brush fires where there arent any hydrants. We use our tankers for mutual aid and for grass fires. But when theres a structure fire, the tankers stay at the fire house
AT 2:45 is doyle adams R.I.P bro he was a great man a great father and one hell of a firefighter he will never be forgotten and the song is bad ass its alterbridge mteallingus
never thought that a firetruck was allowed to use blue lights. here in New York, our firetrucks are not allowed to use blues. i find that interesting.
@Firemen2147 yes i see that. volunteers like myself in NY are allowed to use blue, amber and white on our personal vehicles but only red and white on the firetrucks... i really dont get why that is but hey, as long as we can get to our emergency call the fastest possible way then its fine.
Is the older equipment still in use in some areas not the museum vehicles tho and if so how do they feel when they see other brigades with monster new vehicles great video well done
@DDaysAnimus yea my town has 4 fire depts, 3 of which have tankers like that, and so do at least 3 of our neighboring towns... welcome to the woods/farmland with no form of piped water or hydrants... and yes stop and go sucks but they tend to get an escort to clear intersections if a back and forth is needed, but with 3 they rarely have to run fully coded and push speeds considering the pools never run dry
There are alot of housing communities outside of towns. That do not have a hydrant systems. Where are you going to get the water from. And if you set up a master stream I would want one of those on site. In the country side they are the best.
wut is with DE and owning huge 18 wheeled tankers?
