@dropthepin No doubt, he is the best pilot. The X9 could never be deceptive and clever and fly the way Guld flies. I love everything about the way Guld conducts himself in the movie and in the end it was all about protecting Myung.
As fictional as the character is, you have to admit, very few men would willingly sacrifice themselves if it meant their friends even had a chance of surviving.
Thats something thats blatantly missing in today's media. Heroes who go above and beyond the call of duty of being a hero, to become a legend.
And yet, we have so many examples in real life of such heroes. Heroes who get far less screentime than even Guld has in the anime scene.
I think its worth noting that Guld was a Zentradi.He could bear more G-force than Isamu.If Isamu was in that position he'd die too.Only faster.Also I doubt his mind would be that disciplined to handle the YF21.That brings me to say I love how the Valkyries reflected the pilots traits.
I just love the detail in this clip. The YF-21 being a fighter with the design of the Zentradi Battlesuit is the sole VF capable of ejecting its limbs without losing its engines, and every part of the animation reflects that, with the fighter entering high-speed mode, tucking in its wings and having no vertical stabilizers remaining. The attention to mechanical detail must have been a priority for the director and artists, making M+ my favorite mecha anime since I was young.

Before seeing the truth behind the discord between Guld and Isamu, it considered the pilot of YF-21 a rigid and antisocial person, different from Isamu. But to the you see him die in a such heroic way, to help Myung and Isamu, I began respect him a lot. He doesn't give up, even after his body to enter in collapse, of destroying Ghost X9. He was faster than the death and more perfect than Ghost X9.
Probably one of the most epic moments in any anime. You gotta love planes to feel this moment. The fact that the human body can't take too many Geforces, and him knowing that was emotional. Not only did he save the two people he loved most in his life, but also showed humanity that AI will never replace the human spirit.
@Dinosa282 Agreed. Guld Goa Bowman is a true warrior showing Valor, honor, and also understanding. (even though it took him years to understand, he at least was a man and admitted to his mistakes). As for his Piloting it was top knotch and I agree with you 100% the Body can only take so much. outside of that I would fly the crap out of the YF 21 anyday
@wolf3037 You probably have the North American DVD released by Manga. Those had horrible quality and was probably transferred off the VHS tapes or something.
This was taken (and cleaned up a bit more) from the Japanese Remastered DVD.
Yeah, I applied a LimitedSharpen to it which improves the clarity without smearing out too much detail. I'm hoping the blu-ray discs will do a bit more clean up of the animation as well as properly upping the resolution

1994年の作品。いまから20年近く前のアニメがこのクオリティ。一方、今時のアニメは静止画多用する紙芝居みたいな糞アニメがほとんど。

それは違いますよ。この時代にも所謂「クソアニメ」は腐るほどあります（90年代末にかけて作画崩壊かんたん作画アニメが氾濫しまくってます）
特に優れたアニメだけがフォーカスされ、ソレがいつの間にか「この時代にはこういう高クオリティ作品「しかなかった・がほとんどだった」 というような印象に摩り替わってる人が多いんです。
ただ、最近は「お前らこれ好きだろ？」的な要素を適当に盛り込めばある程度売れますからねぇ悲しいことに・・・

ガルドのリミッター解除による超加速に、コンピュータが恐怖した瞬間に見えましたよね
コンピュータは人間には勝てないといっているかのようなシーンで好きです。

People think Isamu is the hero but Guld really saved the day. If I were a pilot, I would aim to be at least half the man Guld was.

Wow, This looks damn good. I have the movie version as well, on DVD. Yet it doesnt look nearly as good as this, even with upscaling and HDTV.
