  • fkn lobsterbacking is so shmick!

  • AAS have some troubles...

  • sounds like freakin lawn mower! hahaha

  • that engine and turbo wont last.. compression surge FTW

  • @stiking12, thanks for your mechanical diagnosis, by the way its compressor surge not compression surge

  • @stiking12

it is a myth that not running a BOV will harm the turbo.... especially the engine.

there are MANY people who dont run a BOV and both the turbos and engine are running fine.

  • would this motor fit in my 1981 mazda rx7

  • i want to get my rx7 to sound like this... do i need a turbo upgrade from stock???

  • @TRenDSettaZkreW u alredy have turbo in it. if u have 92-94 model

  • @KLONIME1001 Yea but stock turbos dont sound like that!!!

  • @TRenDSettaZkreW yeh but stock is sstill good. get like g35 one or some that would be a good choice .

  • awesome setup... powerfc hunting idle and everything!!

  • but yeah meedo is right, they both work differently

  • bov can either be internal or external, external if it is a bigger turbo. bov and bypass valves both prevent compressor surge by rerouting the compressed air backwards into the turbo housing.

  • @stekrirade lol you have no idea what you're talking about. a BOV sits on the intercooler piping and vents air when the throttle is snapped shut. WASTEGATES are internal or external, and have nothing to do with compressor surge.

  • @hiimcam yeah thats what i meant, didnt mean bov

  • it sounds like my vacuum cleaner =P

  • @tyler15or14 Must be awesome to clean then:P

  • Nice looking engine man but tbh! 3 mins of reving it? SEVERELY not needed!

  • i mean i dont like my turbo's either so who cares about surge. HOLY CRAP BOV thats all you need

  • t51r's don't run BOV's in racing applications. and if they needed it im sure the person who spent 10 grand on this set up would pay another 300 dollers for one and not cheap it out.

  • maybe im the first to acctually notice...but thats not an HKS T51r. Sorry to rain on your parade

  • idle surge anyone?

  • I think hes thinking of the Anti-Surge Housing? no such thing as a built in BOV.

  • the HKS t51r spl has a built in bov i believe

  • built in BOV...... LOL.. sum1 smack sum sense into this boy pleaaaase.. LOLOLOLOL

  • look it up and read. unless HKS is making false claims on their own products, its built in

  • i dont need to look anything up.. a built in BOV makes no sense at all.. what youre talking about, is a built in WASTEGATE.. its completely different than a fuckin BOV, BOV are installed on the pipings, usually the pipe between the turbo and the intercooler.. fuckin get your facts straight.. i hate wen people act that they kno evrything and dont kno shyt! fuckin prick

  • holy shit buddy smoke some weed or something calm down. im not acting like anything. i've seen other t51r spl kits installed and the bov was built in thats what i was told and thats what my guess was with this particular car. i didn't mention anything about the wastegate. why does every comment on youtube have to be an argument.

  • actually.. the dodge Srt-4 does have a bypass valve built into the compressor housing.

  • .... aaaaaand you point is?

bypass valves are NOT blow-off valves..

they may have similar tasks.. but they are NOT the same thing..

dude.. i stopped replying u a long time ago cus i dnt wanna hurt my head with ur replies..

  • by pas valves and blow off valves are the same exact thing the relieve exesive pressure from the system. the only diffrence is BOV's don't have a re-routing tube like a by pass valve does.

  • as i said, they have the same task. bypass valves ar located on the turbo housing (i think), but the blow-off valves are located on the turbo piping.

  • at any point where you say "i think" that mean that you dont know 100% the bypass valve you are thinking of it the "wastegate" and that is actually what controls how much boost is comming from the turbo. and the "blow off valve" is on the intake piping. when the butterfly (throtle) closes the turbo continues to spin. the BOV is there to open when this happens so you dont blow up you turbo by un needed stress. the sound that you are hearing is the BOV but it needs to be adjusted....

  • nice man, you can read wikipedia..

dude, did u even look at my profile!? do u kno whats my job or where i work at!? hahaha.. i work in japan right now devoloping racing engines.

first of all, almost all what u have said is correct, but this car does not have a BOV, the piping is right infront of you in the video and there is no BOV installed

second, my argument was with some dude who said that it has a "built-in BOV" which doesnt even exist.. so dont barge in with ur know-it-all attitude plz

  • @meedo73 is correct. this car does not have a bov.

  • I do not see a BOV anywhere, not a good thing!

  • So Bovs are gay he has a vmount so he has deep pockets he can afford new turbos.

  • if there's a turbo, there's a bov. and you can hear it when he revs.

  • I respectly disagree. In this set up there is not a BOV mounted anywhere. The pigeon sound you hear is compressor surge.

  • Hm i suppose that's possible, but i guess we'll never know for sure. I just didn't know it was possible NOT to have a bov with a turbo...wouldn't it blow up the turbo since the air has nowhere to go?

  • sorry didnt see someone responded before me ^

  • it wont blow up the turbo, it just take some of the presure off the turbo.... never say never it might do some damage to the turbo though :S

  • wastegate

  • @chevyhs dont need a bov :P for what? is only show.

  • sorry bud but your wrong, just because some one has a turbo on their car does not mean they have a BOV, what you hear in this video is compressor surge, so the owner can choose wether he wants a BOV or not , then again it depends how much the owner knows about turbos, because not every turbo is no BOV friendly

  • wastegate friendly

  • it is hunting?

    thats not a normal idle

  • Yeah he diddnt tune his power fc yet. Same with my car

  • ...it sounds like the PFC's learning curve. idle jumps up and doen during this...

  • how's the v mount benefiting? i've heard alot about how they increase hp and boost, something about reducing drop back pressure by shortening the water tubes?

  • V-Mount is to cool both the engine and turbos at the same time. The radiator and intercooler are both getting direct air evenly. A FMIC blocks the radiator which doesn't cool the water temps effeciently thus raising engine temps.

  • 4 rotary engines its more important to cool the engine so vmounts are best for rotarys

  • its a rotary engine it makes that sound

  • Not really dude.I have a single turbo and it doesn't idle like that.I wonder has it been mapped or is the fuelling setup changed?

  • it makes that sound because the blow off valve is allowing the car to build boost at idle and when it tries to build boost at idle it stalls the turbo wheel from the boost not being able to go any were which doesn;t let the motor breath enough air which causes the idle to drop and the car to sputter like it does.

  • This car's not using a BOV.

  • i ment to say because it doesn't have one

  • What's causing the hunting up and down????

  • idel

  • ooooo get rid of that compressor surge man.

  • HKS T51R's do not require BOVs dude.

  • why is that, just wondering?

  • dude thats awsome
