  • You know it's an old vid when he says "I'll put a link right there" *points to side of screen*

  • video starts at 3:28

  • @lauwalk all metal solos are based off of the blues methods. So in reality although it may sound like metal to you, It's just speedy blues licks.

  • i have paid 29 USD for regestered in nexlevelguitar but not thing.Email to a question no one is responsible.Be careful of your money!!! I give you the opportunity, but until today it is still quiet. Not much money but feel bad!!!!!

  • lol these are not Blues licks. This is more like some Metal dude trying to play the blues -.- No disrespect for the player, but Blues licks have a different feeling. Or should have...

  • signed up for the free jam tracks and all I got was a link to Testimonials and $148.00 DVD course, good Video but looks like the Link is SPAM

Thats not beginner, & its not Blues, atleast not from the south Blues,

It sounds more like Rush ......

  • Very Nice Lesson. Thanx.

  • Too many short sighted people with negative comments that couldn't understand the why....they just want the monkey see monkey do concept. Sad. Great promo build up to understand the lesson. Music is the feel plus the understanding. Nice lesson.

  • Sweet Strat bro.

  • @T4teens

i think he does more personal. he's more "master" than "teacher"

  • The title is beginner blues lick I believe, not goofy-ass retard sits and talks about stupid bullshit for the first 6:00 minutes of the video. If you guys want to make it in life, go ahead and skip to 10:59.

  • @pein05 ahahahaha!!LOL, fuck the racist!!ahahahahaha

  • his strat is hideous... All that pearloid is like putting Wal-Mart pinstriping on a Porsche, looks stupid.

  • hey i personally really enjoy the detailed lesson feel to it, anyone can just learn licks but the emphasis on chord changes is what makes good jam sessions, thanks alot!

  • David, Smokin tone!

My Strat just arrived yesterday it has Fender Custom Shop Vintage 69 Pickups

What settings and effects are you using for that tone, that is the exact blues tone that I am looking for

  • rock on !!

  • Or maybe I sould buy bouth, another guitar and another set of pickups. Because the eletric guitar that I have it is sounding very very thin

    Thank you very much

You videos has been very helpful

  • I'm asking because I saw another video of yours saying that this guitar with white headstock is loaded with TS. Wit is strange to me cause I got a strat with ash body loaded with TS and it sounds much thinner that your guitar. And now I don't know with thing I will buy to solve the problem ( another guitar with alder body and rosewood fingerboard) or another set of pickups. I was thinkibg CS 69 pickups

  • Are those pickups Texas Special?

  • yes, texas special pickups in this guitar - they came stock with this guitar

    rock on!

    David T

  • @rockongoodpeople hey david i know this is a weird question, ive been playing for alittle over 3 years and somehow everytime i pick up the guitar i play for a few hours it just feels like i play the same thing but all the outsources i got from my parents, friends, etc. say different, but basically did you go through this sometimes?

  • he'd probly look like the tall guy from mad tv.

thats wat i thought the first 2 seconds of this video.

  • @dustimus1 Some say hes bald. Others say he has a glass dome cover over his brain that he's hiding. I will leave it up to you to decide!

  • @dustimus1 Thats actually the top of his head...

  • @dustimus1 bald?

  • i like ur guitar dude , NICE LESSON

  • "licks" is plural, but sweet lick

  • Det... Is one... Sexefied Stratocaster... I've never seen a white head on one? Does anyone know if it's special model?

  • It's just an Affinity Strat, custom pearl scratch protector and custom (pearl) white head.

  • Affinity strat has 70's headstock

  • im confused about the theory, still sounds good though

  • ...Beginner?

  • looks lime more santana to me

  • lol "one quarter of your arsenal of destruction" this guy is awesome

  • Thanks!, very useful.

  • Excellent Lesson

    DDR

  • too much talking lol but good

  • good stuff man :D really helps.

but if ya dont mind u should reserve the advertising for the in-vid captions it saves a lot of time :D

  • same lick from stairways to heave solo... last lick before the solo ends.

  • it kinda sounds like the guitar solo from "since I've been loving you" by Led Zep

  • sounds like Seinfeld a little

  • Yor lessons are good but I wouldnt reccommend teaching people to bend notes with pinky...

  • Might not be the best technique but it would certainly build much needed strength in that area.

  • Plus the other fingers are behind the pinky pushing the string upwards. The pinky will mostly be just keeping the note in place.

  • Whatever... Show me a vid of a succsessful player that uses his or hers pinky to bend notes. ?

  • i think michael romeo bends with his pinky...

  • BB King

  • hank jr

  • Richie Kotzen and Michael Angelo Bation always bend with their pinky.

  • he's teach like PG

  • this guy is a really good teacher.. an inspiration in my eyes :) not only his guitar playing but also his calm, mellow soul. :)

  • I think he`s hearing a lot of antique Santana` songs

  • Just played a strat today at my guitar store....... I want one now lol

  • I haz a Fender Squier Stratocaster. Safe to call it a stratocaster, right? Maybe I'll sand off the squier part.. rofl

  • lol @ "pocketful a licks"

  • I always thought your name was David Towell until I read about you videos being taken down due to copyright infringement or something.

Nice lessons, sure you waffle a bit but it's not hard to skip past it.

  • God...this (lesson) guys speak too much, just play man!!! Great lesson.....anyway!

  • i will do a smash n grab at the music shop

  • can you also play heavy on a fender stratocaster???

  • how heavy? if you want like heavy metal stuff then I suggest getting anything with humbucker pickups. strats have single coil and you wont get a real heavy tone with it but it still could work. just listen to jimi hendrix.

  • my strat has seymour duncan double humbuckers...

  • yes you can

  • Who cares..... I don't see any videos of you playing.

  • what kinda of guitar is that????????

  • fender stratocaster

  • 3:50. TIP: This lesson starts at 3:50, before that it's waffle. Please help other viewers by telling them when the lesson starts. Thanks.

  • It's not just the sound of the strings with different gauges on itself that's the most important. I think the way heavier strings force you to play makes the biggest difference in how you're going to sound.

Thicker strings require more force and especially without a lot of effects this has a big influence on your sound.

It will be quite difficult to play a good jump blues for instance with .09's on your guitar.

  • skillful player & a natural teacher

  • thank you

  • I like how clear and easy you show this lick! Barring the high e string and the b string at the same time with the pointing finger and showing the picking motion up on the b string and down on the bottom E string for the pull off, very nice... its all there. Your reminder not to be lazy and use the pinky finger to build it up. Thanks HUGE for tips MR Arsnel Of Destruction Kind Sir!

  • so clear at the 6:00 mark

  • the jam track please buddy!!

  • MANNNN !

    THIS IS A PUR ROCK ! V V V

  • hahahahahaah lol

  • thanks man that is awesome

  • In regard to the ringing b string, roll your index finger. DON'T REMOVE IT, Just make it so your index is only slightly touching the string as you progress, you can also let it ring if you guitar is clean enough and want a thicker sound.

  • Hi, question to Dave...

i've got a problem with this lick

when i'm playing the b-string and after this the e-string, the first one is still ringing(i mean b-string), i don't know how are you Dave damping this b-string when you next play for example d note on e-string

    thx for your lessons

    Mate, thx from Poland ;-)

  • when he points at the link, he doesnt mean the advert lol.

  • I will learn from the lick! yeaaaaahhh!!! RofImao

  • 03:49 'repeating licks are really gud' shouldnt be thinking about that at my age rofl

  • Nice,but I think that's not that bluesy...

  • so im 35 and now am able to afford a drum kit and nice guitar...been playin bouth for 6-8 months and doin ok..is it harder to learn on acoustic / elec. than a strait electric..any advice would be great ..its hard to get these bluse sounds out of my acoustic ..ty

  • lmao learn from the lick.. my mind is dirty, sorry
