@Trans4mers8456 I don't remember. The documentation that comes with the game contains a list of the different kinds of stars and their properties, I believe.
In any case, I don't think approaching them should be dangerous in any way.
@Trans4mers8456 I just found out what they're called: "Critter Zeroes". They're apparently a new creature for NICE. I like to think they're really stardrifters who decided to settle down and live their lives on a planet.
@solidsnake1209 I think planets closer to suns tend to be brighter. Experiment with landing on bright and dark spots on the same planet; they represent cloudcover and shadowed areas. It's different depending on planet type. Also, obviously it's best to land on the bright side of the planet. :)
@PathofAshes You'd need a book to list all the differences between NIV and NICE, but you can fly w/ spacebar, land on internally hot worlds, and omega drive gives you unlimited fuel!
Try pressing F2 while in a system. It will list all the planets and moons, and tell you what kinds of worlds they are ;)
How did you get the FPS counter instead of the pulse meter? Also, when you jerk around, is the wind hitting you?
Isak, in the Candelas system, is another nice habitable planet (or, rather, moon) to visit. There's even some ruins there, too. Probably my favorite location so far.
Sorry for the late reply. I'm playing Noctis CE (Community Edition), which has some tweaks to it. I really don't know about the FPS thing, but that could be related. Or it may do that automatically when you use the recording feature in Noctis.
The jerky motion is caused by "earthquakes" that happen occasionally. ;)
go FCD, set Remote Target, double Right click on the target star, Fire up the old Vamana Drives and go, then go FCD and set local target, and choose a place. Keep in mind some places don't have planets
If you don't understand what snaged said, I might consider doing a short tutorial sometime. No promises, since I often don't get around to such things, but I might be able to.
Thanks for sharing your discovery with us :) I share your perspective about the fun you can get from this the pure principle of just discovering :) I hope he'll release the sourcecode to the future part, so people will be able to support him.
I played noctis some time ago... well: I bet that if someone should make a Dx or Ogl version of it (hi-res), that would be the worst drug ever. Actually: it's already possible to fall into it and get lost forever, imagine what could it become with some Dx9 or ogl effects and polygons... :O
Bwahaha! Alex, maker of the game, has given the community his approval to create a sequel, using effects and polygons. I can't predict how well it will pan out, but everyone's enthusiastic so far, and I'm positive this is the most activity there's been in the Noctis forums in a long time.
Damn i played Noctis like hell a few years ago. Totaly loved it. Thats good news man. A sequel to Noctis IV....i can get lot in universe once more...hopefully ^^
Yeah. Noctis is a good game, and proof that fun can exist in a game without puzzles, goals, or violence, even of the cartoon kind. Proof that there are multitudes of untapped possibilities for future games. Thanks for the comment!
I personally think that this game is a refreshing reminder of the fact that beauty need not be overly complex or be backed by the best hardware and software.
Despite having some of the most restrictions (programming wise) you could probably put on a 3d game (don't quote me on that), I personally think that the visuals of Noctis top even some modern graphics as far as aesthetics. That might just be me though... ;)
This is a short exploration done in the DOS game NoctisIV, put to my own musical composition, which I call "Serene Hope". The changing colors are me changing view modes and the whacked screen shaking 0:43 and 2:05 is caused by minor earthquakes. ;)
If you dan't care about the game, listen to the music and tell me what you think!
What are pulsars and S07's like in NIV? I'm scared to go near them...

Can you give us the parsis coordinates please?
Trans4mers8456 1 year ago
@Trans4mers8456 Luckily, I still have an old screenshot with the coordinates. They are:
3772990
4527206
-230977
Hopefully that will get you there. Happy stardrifting!

I saw a standing creature on an S08 felysian planet. It was marked with a "!". Does anyone know what that would be? A corpse? A felysian? A penguin!?
Trans4mers8456 1 year ago
@Trans4mers8456 I don't know. You could ask on the forum if you're a member. If you want to know the URL, send me a message.

cool. Any tips for a newcomer how to find planets that are more lighted. As I would land on planets that's surface was very dark unlike Felias.

At 0:47, what causes you to have those "seizures" on the planet, or does it just happen without warning?
Trans4mers8456 2 years ago
It just happens randomly. They're supposed to be earthquakes.

This game scares the crap outta me, my imagination just goes nuts. I get sweaty palms just approaching a sun...

Hehe nice. ; )

I love this damn game! No aliens, no enemies, no sci-fi plots and ray guns, just you and a spaceship, told to explore the universe.
Reminds me a bit of Ford Prefect from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy...
Really peaceful song, by the way!

Thank you! I've never seen Hitchhiker's Guide... maybe someday.
