  • Can there be any doubt that Shat is the shit?

  • hahahahaha now I can really appreciate stewie griffins version

  • William Shatner, Americas real DAD!!!!!

  • I'm scared, there's 2 William Shatners

  • Wow didn't knwo stewie was doing this. I thought it was his own version. He even copies the lip licking :)

  • Greatest video on youtube ever Captain Kirk, you rock.

  • i love this vid. i've watched it like a hundred times already XD

  • Omg, i just love his dancing when he enters at 3:16! xD

  • But at least we know what that line says; "Burning out his fuse out here alone." Who knew??

  • Why in a tux? Why not a space suit?

  • And I'm gonna be.... HIGH......

  • Why, yes. I'm a. Rocket. Man. And i think that i'm at the weird. Part of Youtube. Oh my. Sounds. Crazy no?

  • This is not a joke , not funny, ironic, etc. It's absolutely BRILLIANT

  • stewie sings better than this...

  • 240p, we meet again.

  • I hope everyone else was taking this as a joke.

  • How did anyone associated with recording this or in the audience manage to make it all the way through with out cracking up and ending up rolling on the floor laughing their fucking asses off?

  • Why does he pause after every 3 words lol. I don't know how he got acting jobs with all that pointless pausing.

  • I think that there is something else in that cigarrette...

  • DAMMIT JIM, YOUR A CAPTAIN, NOT ELTON JOHN!

  • KHANNN!!!

  • this is awesome!! Seriously, its kind of funny, but a really good reinvention of a song. Respect.

  • This is what most actors today are in lack of .. REAL-BALLS!

  • Redshirt, for my short-lived life!

  • @lachgasballon: I think this should be taken for serious and as comedy at the same time.

    It's a musical form of Zen :)

  • I think theres something in that cigarette

  • @bixbamtastic Probably not. I'd say that being on or having experience with psychedelic drugs definitely helps you appreciate Shatner's musical accomplishments, though.

  • @bixbamtastic pcp

  • i dont get this. If its meant serious, it is the biggest shit ever. If its meant funny, then its the biggest comedy of all times. however, its something big.

  • Beam the twat up...

  • So bad it's good.

  • Fucking painful :D

  • ffs class

  • holy shit i never knew this was real! only seen the family guy version! yes!

  • absolutely epic

  • Shatner should sing other Songs and record an Album:The Shat or my ego and me .With Songs like :Mad World,Ode an die Freude, canyou feel the Love tonight ,Eye of the Tiger,The Book of love.all of them sung by the emotionless voice of the Shat .

  • @Lionkingview You should check out his new album: 'Seeking Major Tom' it is AMAZING!

  • @BBBIGST I was beeing sarcastic

  • So much passion.

  • I'm sorry but I can't get over how awkward this is its hilarious. 3:00-3:30 almost threw up from laughing

  • like if family guy brought you here

  • Thats totally a big doobie he's smokin on stage

  • Stewie Griffen -Shatner

  • Rocket Man.....burnin' up the room with cheap cologne!

  • Cool. As. Fuck.

  • you have to be a certain mentality to attempt that . i cant imagine the guy taking things easy on set back then

  • SHATNA!

  • Total Bill Shat LOL

  • he's smokeing the KRONIC

  • I heard this about 20 years ago. a friend played the CD for me. I was laughing and he got mad because he thought it was so great. Too funny. More. More. More!

  • How weird the third Shatner can be that the other two are all like: "WTF?"

  • At 3:22 it really gets hilarious.

  • i love this!

  • It's not possilbe to do a better version of something by just ripping it off. This will be remembered long after family guy is a trivia question.

  • Pure Talent

  • P.S. Dare I say it? This is sexy.

  • A classic!!!!! Shatner Rules.

  • As Stewie says "..know what it takes to be cool!"

  • I still think Stewie Griffith did a WAY better version of this!! That said, Schatner was the master of deadpan musical humor....his Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is a stone-cold hilarious classic!!!

  • Holy hell, this is something else....

  • LSD is a helluva drug, a helluva drug.....

  • I think this is amazing. amazing. really.

  • What was he smoking exactly?

  • Family Guy!

  • Please tell me all the people who think this is good as anything other than a joke are being sarcastic/kidding.

I doubt the self-parody was conscious. If any of you whippersnappers didn't actually live through the 70s or the bulk of Shatner's career, you have to realize that he thinks the mark of good acting is to use a lot of sharp, deliberate, staccato pauses in order to draw out his lines to an annoying length. But hey, whatever floats your boat.

  • 16 people are picard fans

  • Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh. So that's what "swag" means.

  • Poor guy...

  • I am blinded by the sheer brilliance of this.

  • I think it's going to be a long, long time...

    Brilliant.

  • It's like Shatner is doing an impression of Shatner! This may the most entertaining 4 minutes ever.

  • Brilliance. Unadulterated brilliance!!!!

  • the best part is that this isnt meant to be so funny that you tear up and shit your pants

  • Gives me Wood.

  • Amazing. lol

  • So bad it's good, in fact it's awesome...

  • I want what hes smoking

  • That cigarette is going to set off the oxygen canisters. We can only hope.

  • Red Aalert!! Kirk To Bridge!!!

  • Why would he do this? I still want to fuck him.

  • CAPTAIN KIRK, STOP SINGING, YOUR ABOUT TO CRASH YOUR SHIP!

  • Kirk, get off the holodeck!

  • found this because of the family guy episode :)

  • Barf.

  • No, I'm sorry IJ but you lose that bet. Will went through half his career trying to live down things like this. And there are so many more like this it's amazing he ever got another job after Star Trek.

  • Shatner was the first rapper.

  • LMAO!!!!!!!!!

  • Denny Crane, Rocket Man

  • 14 people tried to raise a kid on Mars and failed miserably.

  • love love looooooooove!

  • fuckin hipster

  • Shatner is the original Charlie Sheen.

  • @buriniflheim charlie sheen ain't got shit on Shatner. He went to space.

    vabè ma fa ridere!

  • oh yeah, that's the good stuff!

  • fuck elton john... this is where its at

  • The Universe, much like this man's success, makes no damn sense.

  • This rules! I swear Bill Shatner is thee shit!!! I just love him! Plain and simple! The way he says: "...and I'm gonna be HIGH(!) as a kite by then..." kills me!

KIRK is KING of the spoken word performance! I would pay to hear read the phone book!

  • What a douchebag....

  • @Beeglz look in the mirror

  • very creative.

  • We've went from this to Rebecca Black. I'm so angry with this generation. I blame them.

  • ha

  • This just ROCKS! (wonder what Elton John's thoughts may ben?)

  • Thats fuckin epic im in his fan club

  • fkn g-nyus !!!!!!

  • This video proves that William Shatner is the man!

  • Classic Shatner. Not sure how it holds up to Nimoy's Hobbit song, however.

  • This is where I got my username from (that and my Rocket Dog shoes) ;)

  • @jrnncoelho, If your talking about when he throws his head back @ 1:44, that ain't coke, . . . . . man.

It's appears to be just a reflection of the stage lights from his sweaty nasal cavity.

If he did coke prior to his performance, he would be talking-up a blue-streak, instead of taking his Shattner-esque pauses, as he speaks

  • joint or cig?

  • who looked at this b/c of family guy

  • @SuperRockerchild well aware of this long before family guy

  • 2:39

    Shatner: "Rocket man"

Shatner: "Rocket." *pauses, looks at spliff* "Man."

    Awesome!

  • @lavishlyDecorated Lmao William shatner had a career then he fked it up working for an travel company like that makes me wanna travel makes me wanna get high

  • Does any body notice he talks the whole song?!?

  • @Jazzawockeez671 that is what makes it great:)

  • I think I caught the glint of a little cocaine in his nostrils when he whipped his head back.

  • What a ham.

  • This must be one of the earliest rap songs ever. Fantastic. Now I get the Family Guy 'homage'. Bless you Mr Shatner, they should make you a Knight.

  • @redboxkk no

  • that was kirk 200 years before the enterprise.

  • lol, now i know where stewie got the idea from

  • Thanx for pointing out the seig hiel nazi guy!!!!

  • I love how he's not even inhaling that cigarette, just blowing smoke

  • I wonder if he thinks it's gonna be a long, long time?

  • at 1:53 he does a perfect Sieg Heil

  • Shatner.

  • From the looks of Shatner today, he still has yet to touch back down here on Earth......

  • Cant believe he was 47 when he did this in 1978

  • gay

  • Kill all 3 of them, Spock. It's the only way.

  • where can i get the music??

  • this and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds are his *best* LoL. i have 2 of his cd's. <3

  • Ro-cket-man

  • Haa ha ha ha ha William Shatner is the man he must have had a good time on what ever he was on in those days.....Respect to the "Shatner" still entertaining the generations

  • mars is not a place to race a kid of course he would know since he ran around the universe fucking everyone he met

*females of course George Takei (Hikaru Sulu) doesn't count*

  • The epitome of awesome is William Shatner.

  • @killcrab872 "was" William Shatner

  • (Mars is no place to raise a kid in fact its cold as hell) lolwut?

  • And i think it's gonna be a long, long time.

  • Man, this sucks monkey balls... why can't you just understand that?

  • God, it's true. This isn't even good compared to other spoken word.

  • My mon The Shat don't shiv. However imagine when he dies, there will be cosplayers in Starfleet uniforms guarding his grave for decades.

  • He is such an idiot!

  • Who said this song is by David Bowie? I hope to God I read that wrong... Elton John does this song not Bowie -.-

  • 8 People have no idea what they're talking about.

  • Comment removed

  • @tiredguy71 by David Bowie?

  • @massivedonkey There will be a new post shortly lol (I was full of a cold).

  • How much you wanna bet that he wasn't purposely performing the song....they just filmed him while he was rambling and smoking.

  • @IndianaJoker hahahahaha I almost pissed myself reading your comment

  • THE BEST THING EVER

  • The thing about Shatner that makes him a God is he had major major balls, totally fearless. You can't act the way he did on Star Trek without that. The guy was only in his early 30's when he did that series yet he was so incredibly persuasive. A LOT of it had to do with his speaking voice, his voice in general. If you notice back then, they only hired actors with foreceful voices, ones that could pass for radio announcer voices. That's because the TVs back then were mono audio.

  • 8 people's fuses burnt out!

  • shatner... is amazing!!!!

  • Okay, so he's not a great "rocket man". Fine. He is however, an EXCELLENT mountain climber.

  • @purgatoryzero It's because he wants to make love to the mountain

  • Nothing beats a classic.

  • I love you, Captain Kirk!!! <3

  • What's funnier than this is he did this song again in a commercial about four years ago, and added a hammier version of his acting from Star Trek.

  • I laughed till i cried when i saw this a few years back for the first time

  • Wasn't this on an episode of SNL?

  • @woodbutcherjohn I wish it was, but sadly, it wasn't. Shartner did host an episode in the mid-1980s where he told Star Trek geeks to "get a life."

  • Friggin' awesome!

    Imagine this airing today...

The outcry over him smoking would be nuts...

  • This is so bad that it has transcended bad and has become good. Kafka, Gogol or Nietzsche would understand :)

  • @norrisonthespot you are so right, I find this fascinating , hilarious and appalling at the same time.

  • Quite possibly one of the worst things ever committed to videotape.

The 'multiple Shatners' make a powerful collective argument against human cloning....
