The thing about Shatner that makes him a God is he had major major balls, totally fearless. You can't act the way he did on Star Trek without that. The guy was only in his early 30's when he did that series yet he was so incredibly persuasive. A LOT of it had to do with his speaking voice, his voice in general. If you notice back then, they only hired actors with foreceful voices, ones that could pass for radio announcer voices. That's because the TVs back then were mono audio.
