forza looks better in the light. GT5 looks like its made of wax and sounds like its made of wood. i think forza4 will be a comparison because now turn10 has some competition to improve upon. However i love the night in GT5 and taking 18mp pics in the dark with headlights on. Yeah T10, those plastic see through things on the front of cars actually light up and can be used if the sun goes down so we no longer need constant daylight. I have both games so I have a nonbias view. GT5 has the best physics in a console racing game to date. HOWEVER, take that away and GT5 is utter crap of a game. The whole car selection is broken. Standards car are ugly, not a large selection of premium cars (Prius is premium Bugatti is not), no Porsche, it's just REALLY bad. Not to mention everything sounds like a vacuum cleaner. B-Spec drivers are utterly terrible too. List goes on
Give GT5 physics engine to Turn10 and the game would be epic.
xbox's forza looks and sounds amazing but is not THAT realistic. Prologue passes it on looks and realism. The sounds in prologue downright sucks, every car sound like a vacuum cleaner and the tire screeching is kinda bad. But, hopefully GT5 will be improved on those points. :)
Forza has way better vehicle sounds that also change based on modifications. Gt 5 cars sound almost indentical in every version just about. In mods Forza takes the win, any forza version. Gran Turismo looks great but aside from that it sucks compared to Forza. I own all the gt versions and all forzas, forza's a lot more fun ( except that gt has rally racing).
usually when coping and idea they try to make it better. wii copied ps2( motion stick) and got alot of sales. ps3 took it back with ps move. and wat forza, didnt even once get better then Grand Trismo...
I like your effort, but this is a bad comparison. You've destroyed Gran Turismos biggest point, the handling. When showing with stability control you can't really see the difference in the handling bit. For me, the place where the games really are different is when you lose grip and drive on the ragged edge. You can also see the graphics are better on GT, and you would see that even better in Full HD (1920*1080).

saying forza 3 has better physics than Prologue is a bit of an over-statement. since as though forza 3 is not a full on simulation as some of the aids are perminant such as active steering :/ a lot of people play Prologue on standard physics mode so they don't get the full realism. Playing prologue of pro phyiscs mode with TC and SC turned off is the most realistc experiance you can get. Forza fans obviously can't mock GT5's graphics so they turn to mocking the physics of GT5, quite childish tbh

I played Forza 3 on my brothers xbox, loved it, amazing game! but still, I purchased PS3, having so much faith on GT5 :) and you do realize GT5 prologue was out about 1,5years before forza 3, I'm sure they didn't stop developing graphics and physics there, and focused just adding more tracks and cars.

Forza 3 utilizes actual world and car physics and damage (THUS A SIM) which GT5 does not. it's common knowledge Poly Digi were at E3 2009 and on Forza 3 booth and taking down notes.
Forza 3 is the current King of Console sims.
GT5's physics shall be brought up to F3's standards when it's released. So I'll be getting GT5 then. (holy crap I gotta get FF13 as well! :O)

you do realise FM3 has throttle control ya know. I'm also sure about spinning out and stuff you've heard of driver assists and 2 way differentials. cars aren't really hard machines to control you know. each car is designed for it's purpose. and yeah you obviously do spin out if you apply too much force to a RWD lol. my mate had so much trouble trying to get his GT2 car in contol. srsly man, I told him to apply some throttle. he ended up playing Transformers lol
definatly gran turismo 5, i have forza 3 and 2008's gt5 prologue is comparable to it, and in the upcoming gt5 the graphics are ganna be far better then prologue. screens on the gt5 website are proof enough, the premium cars are perfect in detail and the tracks look fucking insane. we have to remember gt5p is only a small taste, when i bought forza 3 i was dissapointed to see it was pretty much forza 2 with more cars, gt5 is coming out with incredible features.
@Blinkwing No they are not, both are rendered in-game. f you have a 720p display you can see the high poly count. The lighting is far superior on Forza 3. Just look at the mini coop in GT5. @Blinkwing I've seen comparisons. Noticeable jagged edges are more prevalent in GT5. I've seen on track comparisons. And all the screen shots I've seen on the sites are in race. They can't differ on track that much, the cinematic view is rendered real time, it's not pre-rendered or a playback. It they are a slightly lower count it was possibly to keep the framerate up. Which is locked and not variable like GT5. So some instances the frames drop in GT5. Unlike the consistant Forza 3 fps.

forza 3 sounds better (easier to hear the car) and it's also more clear GT5P is slightly too realistic (sounds of the tires rolling on the road as well as the sound being dampened by the body of the vehicle) which is great but you could just hop into ur own car to get that effect so kinda bad there.......
Even though Forza 3 was released 2 years later then the GT5 "preview" Prologue, GT5 still looks better, it's sharper, lighting is superb compared with Forza 3, Physics are definitely better then Forza 3's physics. @spitfirepillo No. FM3 doesn't have shifting animation, neither manual or paddle-shift-automatic-gearbox . However, I heard that you can download a patch for FM3 that add shifting animation. Still waiting for GT5 and FM4.
I find it hilarious that people are actually comparing these two games. Gran Turismo 5 is clearly in a class of its own - It has no rival. This is the most anticipated videogame of all time. A mere demo of Gran Turismo 5 priced as a full game achieved higher sales than those of Forza 2 and 3 put together. Every title in this series has raised the bar for both driving physics and graphics tenfold, and I see no reason why this next iteration should be any different.
Definetly Forza 3 is far the best out of the two for driving, graphics and the cars actually do sound realistic. I'm a real car fanatic, and I love racing with the on-board camera on.
And I must say, in Forza 3, it's like racing with you chin stuck to the steering wheel with Loctite superglue.
+ GT5 has better graphics, more cars, less tracks but hey, 60 is still quite a lot!

saying forza 3 has better physics than Prologue is a bit of an over-statement. since as though forza 3 is not a full on simulation as some of the aids are perminant such as active steering :/ a lot of people play Prologue on standard physics mode so they don't get the full realism. Playing prologue of pro phyiscs mode with TC and SC turned off is the most realistc experiance you can get. Forza fans obviously can't mock GT5's graphics so they turn to mocking the physics of GT5, quite childish tbh

I played Forza 3 on my brothers xbox, loved it, amazing game! but still, I purchased PS3, having so much faith on GT5 :) and you do realize GT5 prologue was out about 1,5years before forza 3, I'm sure they didn't stop developing graphics and physics there, and focused just adding more tracks and cars.

bluntly Pply Digi know themselves that FM3 has the better physics system. and they're applying that to GT5. relax dudes, it's common knowledge that GT5 will be beast when it comes out. for now Forza 3 is the best console SIM. I can understand preference but man, it's a SIM. Tennis rules !

GT5 will be the best simulator when it comes out. dan greenawalt can slag GT off all he wants but the matter is GT is forzas inspiration. if you have a ps3 and like simulators i strongly recomend that you check out a game called supercar challenge :D i just got it today and its exelent. pc and 360 fans have alot of anger towards the GT series and i don't blame them, GT is the best simulator franchise and its only on ps3.... i feel sorry for 360 n pc fans :( awww boo boo

GT4 is the best.
Forza 3 utilizes actual world and car physics and damage (THUS A SIM) which GT5 does not. it's common knowledge Poly Digi were at E3 2009 and on Forza 3 booth and taking down notes.
Forza 3 is the current King of Console sims.
GT5's physics shall be brought up to F3's standards when it's released. So I'll be getting GT5 then. (holy crap I gotta get FF13 as well! :O)

@scratrulz gt5 prologue has way better physics than forza, on forza you can drive powerful RWD cars round a bend no sweat. real life they would spin out, on gt5 prologue they spin out. on gt5 prologue you have learn to control your throttle like you do in real life. ive bin on forza 3 lots of times, and you drive porsches, lambos, ferrari flat out round corners which is not realistic at all.

you do realise FM3 has throttle control ya know. I'm also sure about spinning out and stuff you've heard of driver assists and 2 way differentials. cars aren't really hard machines to control you know. each car is designed for it's purpose. and yeah you obviously do spin out if you apply too much force to a RWD lol. my mate had so much trouble trying to get his GT2 car in contol. srsly man, I told him to apply some throttle. he ended up playing Transformers lol

definatly gran turismo 5, i have forza 3 and 2008's gt5 prologue is comparable to it, and in the upcoming gt5 the graphics are ganna be far better then prologue. screens on the gt5 website are proof enough, the premium cars are perfect in detail and the tracks look fucking insane. we have to remember gt5p is only a small taste, when i bought forza 3 i was dissapointed to see it was pretty much forza 2 with more cars, gt5 is coming out with incredible features.

@Blinkwing No they are not, both are rendered in-game. f you have a 720p display you can see the high poly count. The lighting is far superior on Forza 3. Just look at the mini coop in GT5. The reflections looks ugly, plastic and fake. I think fanboys are confusing the 2, thinking Forza 3's footage is GT5. Idk. I've been a long PS3 fan but the Forza 3 graphics are superior in many ways. Will that stop me from enjoying GT5? No, but these graphics wars need to stop. Forza 3 won this. Period.

@Blinkwing I've seen comparisons. Noticeable jagged edges are more prevalent in GT5. I've seen on track comparisons. And all the screen shots I've seen on the sites are in race. They can't differ on track that much, the cinematic view is rendered real time, it's not pre-rendered or a playback. It they are a slightly lower count it was possibly to keep the framerate up. Which is locked and not variable like GT5. So some instances the frames drop in GT5. Unlike the consistant Forza 3 fps.

@Blinkwing Who's to say this guy is 100 % right? I've seen GT5 and Forza 3. Forza 3 looks better. What graphics are running on the console are far from what it looks like. Their lighting system is crap making everything look like a tinted mirror. It's all opinion. I'll keep playing my awesome racing game while you watch graphics comparisons for the next 5 months.

forza 3 sounds better (easier to hear the car) and it's also more clear GT5P is slightly too realistic (sounds of the tires rolling on the road as well as the sound being dampened by the body of the vehicle) which is great but you could just hop into ur own car to get that effect so kinda bad there.......

Even though Forza 3 was released 2 years later then the GT5 "preview" Prologue, GT5 still looks better, it's sharper, lighting is superb compared with Forza 3, Physics are definitely better then Forza 3's physics. Forza 3 lacks everything. It's just a hyped up soup game that looks decent for an Xbox360. Realistic? Hell no.

There's no contest. Anyone who says Forza 3 is better is a Forza and/or Xbox fan, period. I mean, come on. Look at GT5. It's phenomonal. I just can't help it; I have to point out a few things. Okay, graphics: Duh, GT5. Engine sounds: As if a Mini Cooper S is that loud. GT5 is also more realistic in that category. GT5 has better tracks. Forza 3's tracks look quite strange. I also must point out that the interior view in Forza 3 is pathetic. They know they could have done better for a 2009 game.

Secondly: Forza 3 DOES NOT look better then GT5 Prologue. Prologue has been released in 2007, Forza 3 in 2009. Even though Forza 3 lacks 1080P resolution. The new GT5 coming in Nov-Dec will surely wipe the floor with Forza 3. I have both consoles, but the 360 has already reached it's limit.

lol forza 3 is crap. when the mini changes gear the drivers hands stay on the wheel. in gt5p, the drivers right hand slips down to change gear. FM3 IS AN ARCADE GAME, GT5 IS A SIMULATOR

@spitfirepillo No. FM3 doesn't have shifting animation, neither manual or paddle-shift-automatic-gearbox . However, I heard that you can download a patch for FM3 that add shifting animation. Still waiting for GT5 and FM4.

I find it hilarious that people are actually comparing these two games. Gran Turismo 5 is clearly in a class of its own - It has no rival. This is the most anticipated videogame of all time. A mere demo of Gran Turismo 5 priced as a full game achieved higher sales than those of Forza 2 and 3 put together. Every title in this series has raised the bar for both driving physics and graphics tenfold, and I see no reason why this next iteration should be any different.

GT5 will be great once it's been released and no doubt it will be better than Forza 3.
Comparing these games though is rather silly as they are not in a same timeline (at least not anymore).
In my eyes Forza 3 is the winner and that just by being able to play it.
If you have the money get a PS3 and a Xbox360 cause both Forza and GT are both well worth playing. Oh and get a Fanatec wheel! Just plain awesome:D
PS:I own Forza but sadly no GT5 :>
