  • how much do you need to charge an iphone or any other cell phone. in case one day i get lost in the jungle xD

  • @BlueRice Next time I get lost I'm going to take a small hand cranked generator and two boxes of matches. Last time I forgot the phone and only had one box of matches to make big smoke signals. True story!

  • haha thats awesome

  • Nice battery! What maximum current does it delivers? Is it possible to connect 3 or 4 cells in parallel, to obtain about 100 mA?

  • @gentletuesday Sorry for the late reply! This one from memory produced about 28ma. I tried joining in parallel, doesn't work as good as joining in series, I think you would need diodes between the cells to get better results in parallel. It's a very quick and crude battery but still a lot of fun! Cheers.

  • Can i use carbon rod of normal battries????????

? and why is your ash brown it shouls be grey???????? please answer

  • @danielrocks21 HI. you can use carbon rods from batteries but they don't seem to work as well as a good piece of charcoal. Normal batteries have a chemical depolarizer which stops hydrogen forming on the carbon [which stops the reaction] these don't so the larger surface area provided by charcoal is better.

My ash is grey, gets darker when I add water and looks like brown mud because of the cheap lighting used to make the video. Cheers.

    ?

  • Thank you for sharing keep em coming.Tec

  • awesome

  • you are so brilliant!

  • Is It rechargeable?

  • @nikolovb No it is not a rechargeable battery.

  • how long approximately will this battery last and what is the leftover by-product if you know?

  • @121CH41217 Hi, running a 1.5v clock should last about a week, a LED light might last over night it depends on the current drawn. The biggest problem is hydrogen bubbles from the reaction covering the surface area of the carbon and halting the reaction.[ commercial batteries use manganese dioxide to prevent this, I change the piece of charcoal] What's left over is a corroded piece of aluminium and a soggy blob of ash paste. The complete chemical reaction and by products are beyond my ability.

  • This information is extremely Important. Thank you for sharing this.

  • This is witchcraft. He should be burned at the stake. Or beheaded.

    No animals should be injured.

  • I'd prefer to be beheaded [ it's the thing that gets me into the most trouble ] then again I'm just another animal trying to scratch out an existence on the face of the earth!

  • you're a freakin genius

  • good Idea!
