I heard this on tv in the opening credits of unplugged, I think,,, back in the early 90's. I have searches for his version of this song and i can't find it on a CD by Clapton anywhere or on the web as an mp3. Can someone send it to me as an MP3 please if you have it.
@jeffedwards1969 I love this version too!Try recording it using sound recorder on your computer. It will record as a WMA file but then you can convert it to mp3 if you know how.
Had the pleasure of seeing this tour in 1995 - simply amazing - Eric paying tribute to those who came before him. Found a DVD on the documentary that Martin Scorsese did. Terrific music. Eric would talk about each song and artist who made it famous before playing the song. A must have DVD for any Blues fan. I bought 2 copies of the DVD incase the first copy wears out.
Scorsese looks like an idiot in the opening moments of Shine a Light, first for bringing the Clintons into it at all, then for his silly questions: what are they gonna play? What are they gonna play? Marty, they're gonna play Gimmie Shelter. They're gonna play Monkey Man, they're gonna play Satisfaction, Marty.
It sounded great live. I saw him at Sheffield (UK) on this tour but the stadium venues weren't right for this kind of music. Should have been in some sleazy smoky blues club somewhere like New Orleans or Chicago.
I still have a recording on VHS tape of a TV programme broadcast on BBC2 in the UK of the final rehearsals for this tour. See 'It Hurts Me Too' in the related videos over on the right for a clip from that.
not blues um u guys are retarted u ever took history of jazz idiots listen close it is blues just the different rythem of it it is dixiland blues idiots

Man, you're so right.
Once again Clapton's sound man has Portnoy way down in the mix and all the cock-rocking guitar up in the red. Meh. That's what happens when you get a rock retard mixing what is SUPPOSED to be the blues.
I don't know what it sounded like live, but this was Marty Scorsese's project. I'm not sure how much, if any, input he had on the audio but I know he is a HUGE blues fan and even did a separate documentary on the blues.
Best version I've heard, IMHO. Howling Wolf's included.

It's amazing he can play with so much gain without that big jazz box feeding back. Try that at home.

Have you heard the Little Feat version from their debut album? Pretty impressive work from Lowell George.

@jd51452 I have. I still think RL Burnside's version is better than howling wolfs

It's a Gibson ES350 from the early 1950s.

Whatever it sounds like, it ain't blues, LOL. I don't know why he hires guys like Portnoy if the audience can't ever hear them over the guitar.
