  • I'm not sure if were talking about the same keyboard or if Korg updated the m50,but the piano patches are AMAZING!! A HUGE improvement over their previous pianos on past boards....and you can compare the m50 to a motif or a Roland fantom ...those are flagship boards...compared to the mox8, Jorge action on the 88 key is waaaay better and the piano sounds are more realistic. Roland rodent even have a board to compete with the m50 or the mox8...

  • great player with a great keyboard

  • I have a question, is it possible to edit the arpeggio patterns on this synth?

  • @LEADGUITARIST100 Yes you can, and you can run two rhythmic patterns at the same time too :)

  • I heard about a lot of people having freeze issues with this keyboard.

  • Selling one on ebay at a really low price. Check out ebay.co.uk if you're interested.

  • I have been using Korg since the 80's and I love Korg but i have to agree the pianos are korgs weakness... I have an old K2500 that has an awesome piano and even my Yamaha PSR keyboard pianos are better...However i also agree with the other comment about tweeking... I was able to tweek my piano in which i did have to blend it but i have a much thicker piano now...I just purchased an M50 and i feel like um back to square one...No B3 like my old X2 which is wore out...

  • Are these weighted keys? Because I saw another demo of this keyboard but it had spring keys.

  • @Freddymusician I've played an M50 88 key and I can assure you they are weighted.

  • @Freddymusician the 88 is weighted, the other two are semi

  • korg x50 would be my next sinth!.. i am looking for a job just to buy it :P

  • @ 1:48 sounds like my sister's piano patch on her casio.. korg's acoustic piano sound really suck!

  • LOL at 3:55 ... SPIN THAT BITCH ONSTAGE!!

  • @Oblivionduff I want it!!! xD

  • 2:02 my bad.

  • Can anybody tell me what style of music that is at 1:50.

  • roland fantom g8 kicks korg m50 butt, sill, i have the korg m50, its a great workstation, but, the piano sounds sucks, and in the other side, roland fantom g its waaay too better than the m50, i wish i had roland fantom ): its waaaay to expensive

  • @feewert42 true that, the YAMAHA Motif XS or XF series are nice too..

  • 1:07 "Battle at Karnack". Beautiful :D

  • So in some shots it has piano keys and other shots it doesn't. Which is it?

  • @Straydogger both, there are 3 models, a 61 key, 72 key, and 88 weighted key model.

  • Does anybody know how to change Octaves in the piano ? i want to play a little more to the left and have more space in the right.

  • whats the price of this beast ?

  • @kingnany2 I just buyed "my" one for less than 1000 bucks (euro).

1000 euro is the regular price

  • Can anyone please tell me why Korg made a 73 key keyboard instead of 76 keys?

what are the advantages of this if any?

  • @Cyberman86

    " $ "...

  • OK. I bought this guy 5 months ago and it´s great. You can set up there everything. 16 layered and 16 splitted sounds. Ewerything what come to your mind. The quality of all sounds is incredibly great...... there are not enoug words how to say how great it is. Ok there is no after touch, but I don´t remeber situation when I had to used it. there is many many wais how to insted it.

Ok I saw a lot of comments that this is the worst workstation they have. ´I can image now how great are another one.

  • 1:55 to 2:55 is a quote from 'Forever Til Sunday' off Bill Bruford's 'One of a Kind'

  • I guess, many People mix up "After touch" with "Key-off-sampling", M50 has some Voices with Key off Samplings, for example accustic Guitars (frett noises).

AfterTouch is a different thing. :-)

  • man i wish i had one lol

  • in my opinion has the best counds. Any company (yamaha,Roland,...) havent them better.

And they are never going to have them just little bit similar.

  • can u hook this into your computer and use it with a program like urban arsenal, true strike tension, and ableton if i can't can someone plz tell me a synth i can use for such programs like this

  • the whole keyboard is crazy, i watched a lot of videos, but none of the videos shows how I can change presets quickly.. can somebody tell it? for example with foot switch pedal, or can I set a preset-changing command for one of the keys? or how?

  • does the 88 key one have weighted keys?

  • Thats brutal voice on 5:10

  • @nahrat yes the best .

  • 1:50 as always, Korg has the shittiest piano sounds.

  • @Dadee3 ok. for 1. you can hear that the piano is bad from this record. I have one and I can see that the youality of piano sound iss many many times better than in other bands.

The main problem is in speakers. Try to play something on some studio speakers with straight sound and you will see the quality of sound. I was on th biggest metall festival in europe and there was Tarja, Epica, Sabaton, Lordi and all of them was using Korg M50 it sounded great.

  • @majomanak Fair enough!

  • @Dadee3 what ? Dont you agree.

  • @majomanak You need reeeally good sound equipment for a Korg to sound decent.. as far as piano sounds go. Anything mediocre and below it just sounds like a toy. Atleast to my ears from my experience playing lots of different piano patches.

  • I've a TYros 3...I think Korg has great choirs sound and synth,,,

  • @freemusic1979 and also Orchestras and strings.

  • korg have stepped it up but i still i dunno how the keyboard manufacturers these days can get away with the prices they charge concidering how far software has come

  • korg M50 or Kurzweil pc3x ????? Cual elegir?

    what choose?

  • Kurzweil. Kurzweil. Kurzweil.

  • If anyone can answer a simple question for me.

Out of the yamaha Mo6 or the Korg M50, which one would be better to get and why??

    thanks

  • I prefer to M50

    - more sounds

    - the Choirs sounds lot better than in any Yamaha Keboards. Pianos are not the best, but still okay.

    - more cool user functions.

    - mastering FX like Compressor, EQ, Limiter

    - Easy & quick recording!

    - Dual Polyphonic Arpeggiator, it`s verry usefull.

    - touchscree

It`s easier to record and edit your music (without a Computer). I`ve got yamaha XS 7 and i wanna buy a m50... it`s perfect to record your ideas quick and easy, with Motif it`s allmost imposible :-(

  • It depends what you're doing - I own a yamaha motif xs and a korg karma - just ordered the m50 . The thing is Korg sounds cut through a band very easily and you can be heard even over the noisiest guitar player, whereas yamaha sounds are great in a studio, but are so multi layered that they are lost in a live loud gig. This is why you see bands like Dream Theater using Korgs, and jazz muso's using the yamaha

  • @oysterlovers is that so??!!....... well... i'll be buying this instead of killing Francis (our guitar player)

  • @oysterlovers and for example Nightwish

  • does anyone know if there's much difference between M50 and Pa500 in terms of sound? (not taking into account the arraging section)

  • The bit around 4:56 looks hilarious.

I don't think he is actually playing through there.

  • I dont see any improvements in sound..i had a korg M1 korg x5D from years ago, but piano is still shit..on the other hand yamaha got great piano!! I only like the sax of Korg...too bad :S

  • no improvements from triton, or even M1 and X5d pianos to this? go get your ears checked right now. I wouldn't say anyone should get a korg for pianos, but it's certainly not a major flaw anymore.

  • @flateric4you

Well, lets get your brain checked cause you missing the whole point here, all what i am saying is, I don't see major improvements and where competition is really tight , korg is missing big terrain on the piano's. Look at Yamaha, Roland they are definately one or 2 steps ahead. and hellow this is 2010..if i only were listening to the music for instance 4.20 i would say it is a piano of the 90s.. just boring!

I want to see improvement improvement!!

  • well, I disagree... korg is stepping up the game in many ways way more than either of those guys. thanks for spamming every m50 video with your opinion, btw. I'm flagging you as such.

  • @flateric4you

you are appearently a KORGooligan and nothing wants hear anything bad about a KORG, well so..don't pretend that KORG is blowing away competition, since it does not, and if you want to see my comments as spam that is your prob. All i said was the piano of KORG is very poor compared to the others, that is my professional opinion. Korg can do far more better then this, that is why i am dissapionted in their promising model. oke and if you want to proof me wrong..give me a sample

  • see, I don't entirely disagree with you, but the namecalling and jumping to conclusions is just you talking out of your ass..

  • @flateric4you

even my ass appearently knows more then you..you wackko

  • you are worthless scum.

  • @confidential303 and whatto try 1:48

  • The M50 is very promising machine. Sounds great. The Yamaha synths today are too much based on the Motifs. I have the MM6 and there some sounds like electric guitars are mostly based on the DSP effects, without the effects it's just a raw sound. Not all sounds, but too many. And even worse, when you use the sequencer to record a song, the DSP is disabled and you can't get something like a distortion guitar in there. I heard that some Motifs have the same problem too.

  • I've had my m50 fora while and i love it

  • m50 88 has great keys..and thats only move that saved m50 in my opinion.....61 and 73 versions have terrible keys and that is really bad decision from them...i would pay more for some good synth weighted keys like the triton has

  • The keys on this keyboad are terrible, why Korg why do you put those cheap plastic keys? It has good sounds but the keys really killed this keyboard.

  • does the 88 key have good weighted action?

  • its pretty good, no better than the Oasys, but the 61 and 73 keys dont feel bad either

  • I have one m50-88 and it has a beautiful RH3 (Real Hammer 3), the same used on the Oasys ;) It's great!

  • oasys uses RH 2, m3 uses RH3 ;)

  • I just bought an M50 61- and am totally impressed-along side my Roland Rd 700 I'm in heaven

  • Rudess uses OASYS but half of his sounds comes from other synths in his rack, like the korg triton rack or karma, or roland v synth gt.

  • korg pianos sound great to me, example 1: Jordan Rudess

  • how about the roland stage piano?

  • well, they're fine, but its a personal taste thing. i like korg better.

  • roland fantom? those are triple this price :P

  • Rudess FTW!

  • @ihasakiwi Ok AND whats your point? He'll make any piano sound good you moron.

  • Comment removed

  • @ihasakiwi Rudess would make a Casio sound like a Steinway & Sons piano..

Rudess uses a Korg Oasys workstation which is kinda expensive (around $6.000) The only think I don't like on Korgs is the really soft plastic keys. I really hate that. I really prefer my PSR E303's keys than the one that PA series have.

  • This keyboar es awsome!!!

  • 20 years ago, I had a Korg T3 (upgraded M1) which I loved, but hated the piano sounds. M50 piano doesn't sound much different. Otherwise, Korg sounds ROCK! WHY in the hell can't Korg come up with a decent acoustic piano sound? They always sound thin and tinny like they used 64 K of ram or something.

  • The new KORG m3 Xpanded has a very good piano ;)

  • Exactly, that's why I never liked Korgs, piano patches sound like E.Pianos

  • korg's pianos and strings SUXXXX!!!!

  • @theadman95 WIth two good amps and some equalization you can overcome tinniness.

  • @theadman95 i agree, the piano factory presets sound tinny, but you can change the paramaters and frequency of all the piano sounds in detail to get a really nice acoustic piano sound, and if you've got good quality sound equipment it can sound brilliant

  • @theadman95 You gotta get a Yamaha keyboard for good pianos . . . example, the MOX8 - I love mine.

  • I love it :)

  • My new keyboard...fucking amazing!!

  • it´s so

    excited

  • If anyone is interested in listening to high audio quality demos of the KORG M50, and somewhat diferent (and IMO better than others) come visit all my KORG M50 demo videos!!! Please leave comments or suggestions and Rating..

  • Pianos are perfect for Live Performance... and can be edited to work in a recording as long as it not a classical style piece, works good in a mix

  • That piano sounds is awful

  • It can be Edited... Check out my KORG M50 demo Videos here...

  • korg has such great choirs

  • Well scratch that...

    Korg has better modern synths

Id take a Jp8 over any synth

  • Korg is better than roland i think personaly

    Korg Has best digital keyboards

    Yamaha had Dx7's

Roland has best analog synths by far(which have the most beautiful sounds)

  • I guess Korg've got to make a living!

Although not to my taste, you can't deny that Tritons are universally popular with performers and workstation-producers.

Korg corner the market in enthusiast-level romplers, but they really shine with their range of VA synths and grooveboxes.

I'd like to see less of these kind of things and some more elaborately be-featured midi-sync/performance tools.

The new microKORG is what I'm excited about right now!

  • Another thing. Everybody is talking about tweaking the Piano sounds in the M50, but how many pianos(acoustic) do you have to sit down and actually tweak before you play it? Exactly. A piano is naturally the first sound your average consumer going to look for and just play it, not tweak it. Anyway I'm done.

  • I've been tryna get into Korg gear for quite sometime now but just cannot take the plunge yet(Roland Fantom X7 user). I dont see it being worth it. I've been keeping an eye out for the M3+EXB Radias OS 2.0 but haven't had the chance to play an 2.0 M3. OS 1.0 M3 sounds OKAY but the it's price vs sound quality don't add up. I guess your paying more for all it's integrated technology rather than it's overall sound quality. Again this is my impression of OS 1.0

  • Try to get a test drive of the Oasys for an amazing all round keyboard.

You'll find the pianos you're looking for.

  • Okay I'm back. I got another chance to play it at GC with Headphones. I'm still not convinced with this board. I tweaked the pianos as suggested and played with the MFX, but it still sounded weak or even worse. Orchestral sounds, again Organs and the Synth/SFX pads are the best sounds IMHO. The rest I just cant get into. Nothing about this board stands out and grabs me besides it's $1,009.99(US) price tag. Oh Well.

  • I just bought the 88 key version, and it's coming friday! I hope everyone else has a musical christmas like I will with my Korg!

  • ..yamaha motif es...the top piano & keyboard sounds guys...try it

  • The piano really isn't all bad. People expect too much "out of the box" with synths today. The core sounds are good.., if one doesn't please you.., well simply edit the patch. That's what those knobs are for! It's not hard to tweek a piano.., often it can be done with some minute filter adjustments and EQ'ing.

  • just the piano is horrible...

  • I agree. Piano isn't very good, although most of the other sounds sounded pretty damn good! I hope that you can expand this machinge with exp. cards. I have a question. When will it come to the stores in middle europe?

  • blablabla..... the m50 is the best/price workstation out there, and korg wins again !!

the m3 and the oasys are alot better, but much higher price :)

so, the m50 roxx for his price.......and i will buy an 88er m50 as my piano

  • Piano sounds on Korgs have always sounded like crap

  • The Korg Triton Extreme grand piano programs are not crap,in fact, the only more authentic sounding piano I have ever heard from a workstation, would be a Kurzweil..I would know,as I have owned my Extreme for 4 1/2 years.

  • nice show of korg m50 its have potensial, but there is only one workstation and that is the korg oasys, i have my red one the korg karma love it. but for beginners who will play in a band go for the korg m50. its good enough. from Ballademaker Norway

  • i heard from a friend u could use this as a vsti if thats true this board will go far thats cool as hell i would buy one for that fact alone

  • I don't think your reading my comments properly. There was nothing wrong with the Triton, I had one and it was probably the best keyboard I have owned. The M50 does not have aftertouch although it responds to it over midi so not sure where you got that information from?

  • You're correct. I checked with Korg today and the board itself does not have aftertouch.

  • Still not sure about the M50 and this vid did little to help me make up my mind. Sure it's a good price but, no aftertouch?? That's just crazy. Maybe I'll go for a used Extreme instead. I really like Korg but after the Triton I'm not sure if they have gone in the right direction ?

  • the right direction?

M3 is bad? i think it is wonderful instead...

  • Why are you talking about the M3? I was talking about the M50

  • because you said that Korg, after triton, hasn't gone in the right direction...

  • I should have been clearer. I meant they that with the Triton you had the top of the range then the Triton LE...but you could add sampling and it had aftertouch. Now with the M3 they have brought out a cut down version in the M50 but left off things like the sampling option and aftertouch. Is this the right way to go?

  • Not everyone needs sampling. So I'm happy with a killer music workstation with killer sounds and features (without sampling) for a street price of under a grand.

  • I've played it. It has aftertouch. And what was "wrong" with the Triton? I didn't own one, but did play it and know a lot of people that have them and nobody's ever complained to me about it.

  • i'm gonna get one

  • and Jack Hotop can make a $99 keyboard sound like god. so...... there ya go

  • has KORG 'ever' gotten past varations on the M1 piano sound

M3 is watered down OASYS ,. M50 is watered down M3... they think we cant tell the engines arent the same? Now mind you... the M50 has an attracive price.. and good 2nd keyboard if you have a YAMAHA piano OR the like. Think I'll try the new NORD ELECTRO 3 for stage.

  • The pianos in the M50 are not even close to the M1. I own both. Not in the same league.

  • I got a chance to play one at my local Guitar Center.Wasn't impressed with the strings but I guess the orchestral sounds make up for that, piano's still have that high pitch(you can tell it's a korg) sound.Organs I was a little impressed, especially the Leslie emulation.Overall I think it's a pretty good, and VERY PRICE COMPETITIVE board for producing(it sounds very warm) and perhaps some live venues. I'll need 2 go back again with headphones so I can test it more without so racket going on.

  • If you're not crazy with the piano patch, do a little tweaking. It's amazing what some futzing with any synth can accomplish. Too many people just buy rigs and leave the factory sounds as is. What a shame. Can you imagine buying a MiniMoog back in the day and only turning one knob.

  • well said.i agree

  • Promising sounds and features. Wish it had aftertouch :(

  • Agreed!

  • Fantastic! Beautiful display of sound, style and function. :)
