wooooow i´v been hummig this song in my head for 30 years i was only 10y so i didnt buy it at that time only remembered the chorus lines and "remote control" and i didnt know who sang it so it´s like being a kid again,,, .... dan..m good music, congrats to you for keeping this song i suppose you copied it from an LP, sounds great..real cooool
This were thier first jam on the radio. this is the jam. They should play it now. I love the Reddings. I were a street dancer back in the day and this one was one of the jam that was out then. Poping and locking and break- dancing. Oh yes moon walking also. lol
@msOctober12 I remember when my moms had this joint on 45,too. Just only weeks ago,I brought the 45 at a spot where they also sell 45's along with lp's and 12 inch vinyls in Brooklyn.
@2009Denisem How I love this jam... reminds me when I use to go rollerskating back in da days. Thank you for posting Archie & Denise thank u 4 sharing.
I haven't heard this since the '80's.I had this on a cassette my lovely son broke when he was a baby. Thanks so much for posting, this is going on my current music rotation right away!
these guys look just like Otis especially the one in the white shirt. This record reminds me of my lilttle sister Naomi all she knew was REMOTE COTROL and there's a good good feelin on your radio
Im from macon and I see Otis III all the time and he doesnt look like that anymore..... he looked much better when he was young. I like the song though.
Somebody else picked up on Bell and James: Livin it up on Friday Night as the inspiration for Keith Sweat and Teddy Riley's song Just Got Paid by Johnny Kemp....I couldn't believe it til I played it!
This cut got heavy airplay in the Los Angeles area on KUTE 102 fm radio. They played a few other cuts of the lp. This song is holding up quite well in my opinion.
I saw the Redding at th kennedy center in DC the whole band was funky Dexter Otis Mark Locket singing was soulfull and the band was tight Johnnie Locket Percussion Wilfred Harrison Piano David Fairall Sax Ronald Pansuka Trumpet Louis Oxley Keyboards Darrel Yogi Dickerson Drums this band was tight...
I heard this in the Navy......I was stationed in San Diego,CA......in 1980,,,I was 18 at the time....damn,time flies by........ doesn't matter, this is still a hot jam......
Remote Control was my favorite song when it was out. I couldnt get enough of it. I still remember all the words till this day. Their father would have been proud!
My brother wrote this and produced this. I can't believe this. I've found it about 30 years. I can't wait to send to him. Thank goodness for You Tube.
Damn this was the first 45 record I bought that shit was like $1.45 I was hella juiced I worn the groves out that record good post pimpy this songs brings me back.
Man I miss them, I was a young tween when this came out....about 13. dancin and mamas house parties, I loved this and "Hand Dance" I remember the "hand dance" and bringin down tha house..Thanks for postin this.. anyone know if theres a hand dance video to see?
The Reddings will always be my all time favorite group. I use to love this song. I was nine when this song came out and I recorded it on a cassette tape and played it to death. Reddings rule!
This sounded so much better than Otis Redding. "The Awakening" was a bass song revelation only poorly covered later on by Les Claypool whom I nevertheless had started to appreciate since I met him at an afterparty in the early 90's. Check out The Reddings'
On my way back (on greyhound) from Arizona to seattle. I stayed in a motel in San francisco, south of market. Saw this group on the TV playing this song plus Aretha was plugging United together.
I've not heard this before but I love it,1980 to about 1986 was a fantastic time for this kind of music,in a way I'm glad it didn't become to commercialised because it would have been sugar coated and cheesy and bland.
I remember hearing this song on the radio back in 1980 and heading to the record store and buying The Awakening. I really think these guys should have been bigger. Thank you for posting this classic song.
I remember one of their very popular songs in the spring of 1982. I think it was called Don't Matter (I Just Give Up On You). I loved the bass line on that song. The last few seconds of the song used to set me off when the rhythm would switch to something a little faster with the cowbell. Such talent!
I played the heck out of this song back in the day..Too bad you dont hear this song on the old school radio stations. I wonder if the deejays even knew The Reddings.
the redding out of GA. you guys should have made lots of money off this LP the best song off this LP is lady be my love song its time to do an oldies show!!! guys your music is the best YOUR FANS IN BALTIMORE,MARYLAND
Anyone ever see the video--or hear the song--"Call The Law" by these guys? It came out around 1987 and featured a bunch of cute little kids dressed up as Prince, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper and others. If anyone has this, PLEASE...post it! Haven't seen it since the '80's.
I looked for the same song myself, and wanted to hear it as I've never heard it but always dig to find R&B songs from the late 80s that hit the Top 40 (better yet, the Top 20..such as "Call the Law") to see if videos existed....I would love to find the MP3 to "Call the Law" as well.
Does anyone recognise a slight similarity with BOBBY BROWN'S MY PREROGATIVE ? they kinda have the same beat......
