  • was taken from a movie?

  • If this scene is true, the most amazing thing about this clip is that Karen actually thought this take was anything less than perfect.

  • This woman is truly amazing .... I cant wait to meet her in heaven....she has always and forever be the angelic voice .... god made here ... and god took her .... Happy Valentines day Karen ....

  • Karen was an amazing person with an amazing voice she had a voice of an angel.x

  • People say that Karen sang like an angel but I suspect the angels sing like Karen Carpenter.

  • nobody--!! nobody..!! ever had sang like she did.. she was a gift of God for all of us and he took her maybe to others ..

  • ...AND THE "RICHARD" PORTRAYED IN THIS FLICK LOOKS LIKE HE'S ON DOPE OR SOMETHING...IT SUCKS, I TELL YOU!!!

  • phambo101 is on dope. phambo101 sucks i tell you

  • @phambo101 Actually he was on drugs....He had a valium addiction and that is why he entered a treatment center in Kansas, back in 1979....If you want to blame someone for the portrayl of Richard Carpenter, then blame the "real" Richard Carpenter....He was the executive producer of the made-for-TV movie.

  • THIS MOVIE SUCKS! I MEAN, COULDN'T THEY FIND A BETTER-RESEMBLED "KAREN"?!!!

  • phambo101 sucks

  • Ironic that this was one of her finest recordings. Richard has mused on that many times. As in poor health as she might have been she still was magnificent.

  • what was the exact date of this session?? her illness did not effect the richness of her voice at the end, that is for sure...voice of an angel!!

  • @windstorm1000 April, 1982 it was recorded. I had emailed Richard Carpenter in 2007 see if there might be any film footage but unfortunately not. He referred to this as a lead track. Karen came in, sang the song acapella and it was recorded. The final arrangements and music were not added until after her passing. That has always blown me away. She never her the final version. Pure perfection. I get good chills no matter how many times I listen to this. Now is pure Gold!

  • KAREN IS NOT GONE FOREVER SHE LIVES ETERNALLY IN HEAVEN SINGING TO THE LORD & THE ANGELS & EVEN MY DEAR BELOVED PARENTS!!GOD BLESS YOU KAREN!! THANK'S FOR THE POSTING!!

  • @ekpp60 Maybe she is in the other place?? Asbestos dress??

  • I used to have this movie on VHS and played it a bunch. I always thought it was funny how Herb Alpert was played by a big, hunky guy. There are lots of complaints about the integrity/realism of this movie. You gotta remember. Back then, TV movies really were fluff. Things have evolved and we expect a lot more, in terms of factual accuracy and dramatic weight, out of our TV biopics.

  • @burpo did you ever see Herb shirtless in the 60's??? Very dark, tan and hot!!

  • @windstorm1000 He and Sergio Mendes are two of my heroes.

  • This is not Karen Carpenter and this movie didn't even begin to tell the truth.

  • @madeyes4u So we have to wonder if there ever WILL be a movie that WILL tell the truth--doubtful as Richard would not want to 'tarnish' Karen's image--but would be more truthful. R. also owns all of Karen's songs, of course, and would not allow them to be used in non-fluff version. So how would you do a bio of Karen w/o the songs????

  • You will never be forgotten Karen Carpenter my sweet pea! I love you so much!

  • This movie was pure drivel. The Carpenter family had full and complete content control over the film. Both Gibb and Mitchell Anderson were stiff and completely unbelievable as the duo. Gibb's lipsyncing was awful. It's even hysterical that in the film at the very earliest of their success, posters outside of a venue were for an album "Made in America" that would not be released until years later.

  • I wonder how this song would sound with a differnt background track. Karen's voice is so good on this, I think the background singers detract from it.

  • Is that Anna Farris as Karen

  • @marxsbros1 The girl playing Karen was Cynthia Gibb. When this movie was filmed back in 1989, Cynthia was best known for playing in the "Fame" TV series.

  • "Now"

  • What is name of this song?

  • @isalaye The name of the song is "Now" from the 1983 Carpenters album "Voice of the Heart"

  • Beautiful & heartbreaking.

  • Having used this song as the final portion of my parent's 40 anniversary video, I was editing with my buddy Mike at 2am in a studio in suburban Chicago. Out of the corner of our eyes, we saw a young girl with long black hair and a knitted white crochet ponch peek into the studio and walk away. There was no one else in the entire building. Mike looked at the cd cover from Voice of the Heart and said, that looked just like Karen. I think she was giving us her approval of honoring her music. Wow!

  • @MrJoey425 If that's true - what an amazing story.

  • @ObscurityMiss86 Thanks so much for commenting. Yep, it's true. Mike and I searched the entire building...all of the doors were locked. It wasn't creepy but just empty; the editing suites and the warehouse. This was 2am in the morning in basically the middle of nowhere in the burbs of Chicago. Also, Mike really never knew who the Carpenters were being much youger than I. Him confirming that the girl that peeked in looked like the girl on the cd, (Karen) was to amazing!

  • @MrJoey425 ...i truly believe she was

  • This song makes you think she finally found someone, but sadly she did not. A very big fan and always will be. Go with God Karen.

  • @sargem100 Couldn't agree more...Amen buddy!

  • PERFECT VOICE.

    SO SAD SHE'S GONE :(

    GEEZ!
