Just the video I needed. Boom stands are new to me. I know whAT I need it to do but I don't know what to shop for. Since this idea is new to me, I have no idea if things have improved since your video. But at least I know where to start now. Much appreciated.
@bladeborge Some mic holders are 5/8", you'll need a 5/8" to 3/8" adapter. All RODE mics include these, some other manufacturers include these as well. You can google to find one.
Thanks guys! You're awesome! This is shot in our NEW STUDIO! We've been quite involved in getting it ready over the last few months so we could just leave everything set up and shoot! Looking forward to producing more so be on the look out!

You put your counterweight on the WRONG leg, mate! Besides, it is an aweful lotta stand for not much of a light.

And I hope that studio does not cost too much to rent, because the soundproofing between you and the DRUM STUDIO next door is absolutely hopeless!

Hey Guy, how do I attach a mic to that gold thing? The female screw on my mic holder doesn't seem to fit.

It's called a "cradle."
I have an S-load of Lowel cradles that I use for booms.
It's fairly easy to rig a boompole to a c-stand arm also.
