That is probably my favourite lyric in the entire song. Writing the good girl's name in the sky is such an anonymous, strong and symbolic gesture. The very nature of act is temporary. It is there for everyone to see, but only for a short time. I love the bit at 1:53 when the "good girl" is reading the magazine 'Horoscope' rolling her eyes at all the crüe wannabes she hangs out with drive away from her. It says so much. She's just hanging out, wishing for a better day & wanting to leave this world for a while.

The only difference is that Petty seems to have some insight into the situation hence why he is "freefallin'" whereas everyone else is standing in the shadows
