I do not believe in god but I do understand what he is saying and it's something I have thought about before. What is god? I think god is a moral compass for people who lack an element of a moral compass or the convictions of morals.

Not that god fearing people don't have morals but people go one step further for god than they do for a moral code, maybe for fear of god or for the love of god. It really doesn't matter why as long as they do.
