CoCo is not funny, and now he's not funny on TBS.... I give it a year, then canceled. I tried to watch a few shows and it's sad, same old crap but just more desperate. Actually a majority of late night watchers like jay leno. He lead in the ratings for 15 years. remember conan lost 49% of the tonight show viewers. if he would have continued on the show, the tonight show would have lost 22 mililon dollars this year.
so it is a good decision to put jay back on. odds are even if he doesn't maintain being #1 he will get better ratings than conan.
It will be fun to see jay, conan and letterman all compete at the same time down the road!

Does anyone blame NBC, not the hosts? They fucked late night shows people. Six years ago they planned this with giving Conan that piece of paper to sign. They only kept Jay because they assumed Conan was going to fail, which was the apparent case to NBC even though it was working fine. Now sure, Jay could've been a man and said no, but as he said, he's been taught since he was young to take a job when you can get one. That's what Conan will do as soon as this next period of contract is over.

Actually a majority of late night watchers like jay leno. He lead in the ratings for 15 years. remember conan lost 49% of the tonight show viewers. if he would have continued on the show, the tonight show would have lost 22 mililon dollars this year.
so it is a good decision to put jay back on. odds are even if he doesn't maintain being #1 he will get better ratings than conan.
It will be fun to see jay, conan and letterman all compete at the same time down the road!

Where do you get your facts? $22 million loss? no way! Conan was barley get beat in the ratings but a few points in fact some days he was winning the time slot but over all he was getting beat. The 'Tonight Show' WOULD have made money! Just not as much money as they would have made before. If Jay's lame ass prime time show that was getting totally destoyed in the rating was making money. Get your facts straight. Better to let people think your are dumb, then open your mouth and confirm it.

They were always going to take a hit when they changed hosts. It's cost of doing business.
It took Jay Leno 2 years to get the ratings back up after taking over for Carson.
They gave Conan less than a month and for the last couple weeks they were already panicking showing a lack of confidence. They are going to have to do it again in a fews years anyways and people with credential like Conan don't grow on trees.
Jay Leno made a mistake doing what he did.

I love both Conan and Jay, just for the record. And I think they are both very funny in different ways. But Conan's ratings unfortunately speak for themselves. I believe they said he lost half the audience.

yeah but that was all NBC's fault:
a) they mainstreamed him and watered him down
b) Conan was nervous like 1993 Conan because of his new watered down humor, and an arena that didn't allow him to be himself
C) they didn't nurture him like they did Jay or Jimmy Fallon with great guests...JUST like they did on Late Night
d) the news ratings were atrocious due to Mr. Leno's bomb show which lost 4/5 of NBC's 10 PM share

I don't think it was ever Jay doing all that. NBC was greedy and wanted to keep Jay Leno, which was ultimately a stupid idea. It was NBC who saw the number weren't working, and it was NBC who wanted to moved Jay shows. Blame NBC, not Jay. That being said, I will not be watching the new tonight show.

I think alot of the comment about Conan is emotional.
First, my comments on his last show, show that Conan is a class act.
Second, I think the way NBC treated him was awful and uncessary.
However, You shouldnt blame Jay leno-Leno said 4 years ago, Primetime wouldnt work and asked to be released from his contract but NBC refused.
O Brien was tanking in the rating as host of the tonight show- I like him but he lost over half the audience of the show and Letterman began to hammer him!

Does anyone blame NBC, not the hosts? They fucked late night shows people. Six years ago they planned this with giving Conan that piece of paper to sign. They only kept Jay because they assumed Conan was going to fail, which was the apparent case to NBC even though it was working fine. Now sure, Jay could've been a man and said no, but as he said, he's been taught since he was young to take a job when you can get one. That's what Conan will do as soon as this next period of contract is over.

Its not about age, its about not sectioning off a small demographic.Conan's problem is he is only liked by such a small percentage of Americans like young idiots up at 0300 and New Yorkers.Well late night already has a host to fill that demographic andhis name is Letterman.
