My dad has been a firefighter for 11 years.. If u havent seen the movie Ladder 49 go check it out! It's all about firefighters but it's a movie not a documentary. .. U will love it I go to tears everytime ... Please look at it

And if I were too pay the ultimate sacrifice, like our fellow brothers and sisters, I would be glade to join them in the honor of knowing what I was doing was for the better of mankind and helping a stranger.

What the first thing I need to do? Do i just go to my local fire house and ask for an application? When do fire dept/house usually accept applications? I live in San Francisco, CA and a freshman in college by the way.
@SmokeEatersSF go to the firehouse and grab an app. all departments r different, so u might need certifications beforehand. u wont know until u go down and ask though
im a volunteer going to become a fully paid fireman i agree with that statement we dont have to ask to be heros its just apart of the job title thats y i love waking up at all times of the night to answer a call
@xxxjordanlentzxxx You want your parents to be supportive of you, but don't let anyone stop you from doing what you want to do even if they won't let you when you turn 18 go to your local Volunteer Fire Department and sign up.
Or go to a Fire Academy and become a Paid Firefighter.
@xxxjordanlentzxxx Yea, sometimes the best way to get on with a Volunteer Fire Department is go right up to the Station, they'll usually direct you from there.
I don't know about where you live, but here in Texas you gotta have two different certifications to get on with a Paid Fire Department.

A job as a firefighter is not about all the trucks and lights it is about saving others and saving there homes that what it is all about i am going to be a fire explorer in California i am 15 by the end of this program i will eventually become a firefighter because that program goes to 15-21 then i can become a real firefighter and i will keep that job as a career because i like to help people sop i hop you become a firefighter and help those in need just like i will.
