  • My heart breaks a bit when she starts seeing the Camelot theme song. I used to often watch Richard Harris in Camelot when I was younger. Now the extremely talented Richard Harris is gone. He was extraordinary. And as I think about how Julie Andrews can't sing much anymore, it is surreal to me how we lose these amazing people and their talents with time. Richard Harris, darling Audrey Hepburn...and to one day lose Julie Andrews will be a hugely sad loss. But what a gift to have had them at all!

  • Never understood why she didn't play the lead in the movie "My Fair Lady". Typical Hollywood politics. They would rather go with a movie "star" instead of the original lead. No offense to Audrey Hepburn but she had no voice and it was dubbed. Stupidity!! Just wished I could have seen Julie on stage but I was too oung to go to the theatre on my own.

  • @50Noreen The same reason Cherry Jones wasn't chosen to play the lead in the movie "Doubt". Sure she won the Tony for the play, but Meryl Streep was needed to sell tickets at the box office.

  • 4 people never got to dance all night.

  • Love the power of the last note...WOW! Goosebumps for sure!

  • i don't know why but i always start to cry when she starts singing 'Camelot'.

  • goosebumps. purely and simply. goosebumps.

  • who here dislikes Julie Andrews? She's practically perfect!

    (lame pun, i know lol)

  • goosebumps

  • julie andrews is an inspiration to me!!

  • Julie Andrews epitomizes the golden years of Broadway. Never again will anyone be able to reach her level of grandeur and class. Perfection.

  • yeah i agree with wwbwbgohbc the day i found out i bawled for almost all day!!! worst day of my life!!!

  • Um...friggin wow

  • She is just amazing in everything :) Juliee love you so so much <3 <3 <3

  • where is there the video of her refusing a tony award?

  • @frammyxx It doesn't exist. She didn't win. She refused a nomination.

  • She should have been given the chance to do the movie versions of My Fair Lady and Camelot. Hepburn and Redgrave didn't have the singing chops to do those roles.

  • Anyone who isn't a Julie fan, is either in a coma, or an idiot.

  • She still does an amazing job here. She is a huge trooper, and does a great job in this performance. She will always be an amazing singer in my eyes

  • a great and gracious dame

  • I love Julie Andrews!

  • Her voice is one of a kind. Even when she talk's in her movies it sounds beautiful <3 Thanks for sharing, I would have never seen or known of this vid, since I was 1 yr's old in 1991 Lol.

  • Seeing her do My Fair Lady here really reminds me how ticked I am not to have seen her as Eliza Doolittle, even after all these years. (No offense Audrey Hepburn fans, but come on now.) At least we get to see treats like this from time to time.

  • @1964nickel I agree...the director for the film version did not think Andrews would do well on film. Go figure. Disney could not imagine any one but her playing Mary Poppins and she one the Oscar for that role.

  • A nice tribute since Rex Harrison (Prof. Higgins) had just died a year before.

  • Man oh man to have seen her in her day would have bee incredible. I was in High school when she lost her voice. Such a same. However, there were rumors she was forcing her voice too much while on Bradway in Victor/Victoria which thus caused he nodules.

  • Just Love Her

  • I found this very imaginative video from Breton2Robert called Julie Andrews: A Few Notes. Very original

  • Julie vraiment une très belle voix

  • she has amazing voice..she use to sing in Princess Diary...

  • For an audition workshop at my school, we were told one of the characters was supposed to be elegant, I thought of Julie Andrews right away. Such poise and brilliance. Love her. :)

  • God, I just love this arrangement of "Camelot." It really drives the lyrics in.

    Gotta love her!

  • I love her. She's such a star. Beautiful voice. Such poise, such elegance. She's like royalty. That flowing dress makes her look like a queen.

  • Genial. Simplemente genial

  • She is totally amazing.........the only word i can describe her is"STAR"......;)

  • Everything about Julie Andrews radiates beauty and grace and talent and it is footage like this that cements her as my favorite actress of all time. And I don't care what others say--the woman can still sing.

  • sad that all of you are talking about her in past tense. she can still sing. classic julie, classic broadway was posted on itunes in 2000. it's her best album. and she did a little song in princess diaries 2. i cried the first time i saw that. personally, i think she just may be uncomfortable singing in public because she can't do it the way she'd like to. but she can still sing fairly well. and she is still making movies and writing.

  • She's not dead people. She still has a singing voice. If you recall, in 2004 when Princess Diairies 2 was filmed, she did sing a song and it sounded amazing! She still has a voice, still has perfect diction, etc.

  • No...really she doesn't. Her voice was damaged during a surgery to remove non-cancerous nodules on her vocal cords in 1997. The doctor botched the surgery and Julie won a substantial lawsuit from it. She herself says she has about 5 solid notes, but not good enough to sing on Broadway or to record an album. Trust me I love her more than anyone, but her voice is gone!

  • @nsimpson76 It's true. And it's one of the greatest tragedies in the world of musical theatre. At her prime, her voice was just perfection.

  • @nsimpson76 It's just horrible! They were non-cancerous nodules and the doctors assured her she'd get her voice back after 6 weeks. I'm sure if the doctors had told her she may not sing again, she probably wouldn't have gotten the surgery. :(

  • @deschanellove But if she didn't get the surgery than she wouldn't be able to sing either, the surgery gave her a chance to be able to sing again and was supposed to be a quick recovery , other wise if she hadn't got the surgery than her voice would have slowly broken down with no chance of coming back. In the long run she did the right thing IF they hadn't botched it that is. :( She is still truly amazing.

  • @PrincessArtiie But they had to write a song specifically for her because she can only sing about 5 notes now.

  • Why is everyone talking about Julie in the past tense; as if she is dead. She's still alive and kicking people and her voice and diction will be missed WHEN SHE IS DEAD! For now we can still enjoy it for what it is, a fantastic powerful instrument!

  • Its because she lost her singing voice.

  • the best!

  • Flawless....and seemingly effortless.

She seems so swept away by the music....her voice will be forever missed. Though, a role that I would have loved, loved, LOVED to see her in would have been Mrs. Anna in the King and I.

She would have blown that role out of the water....

  • i love this woman

  • what an amazing voice; its so comforting..i'm so sad its gone..

  • A truly amazing performer. Camelot, goosebumps every time.. I Could Have Danced All Night, all I can say is wow....I miss your voice Julie, thank goodness for recordings!

  • Yes, I agree thank goodness we have recordings so that we can still enjoy her gorgeous voice.

  • Ms Andrews always had the most perfect diction. One can hear every syllable, every comma and period.

  • can't touch this, nah nah nah nah!!

  • the next great to passs enjoy while we have them heer with us

  • what was the second song where does it came from i think Julie is a treasure

  • The song is "Camelot" from the musical Camelot.

  • she was and still is so beautiful!

  • WOW!! I've always loved her rendition of 'Camelot', gives me goosebumps.

Thank you so much for posting.

  • she looks so fantastic at her age in this and today :) brava

  • I think this orchestra is too busy and loud at the end.

The powerful voice still comes out but I wish I could hear it better.

  • she is an amzing performer! Thanks Julie

  • was this before or after the surgery that destroyed her vocal chords?

  • This was before. It was in 1997 that Julie Andrews underwent surgery after developing vocal problems. It wasn't really publically confirmed til 1999 that her voice was gone i think?

  • oops yes this was BEFORE of course. Her range went from 4 to 1 octaves

  • @boomdigga227 correct, infact it was during an interview w/ Blake Edwards that it was "leeked" . The interview was over and he thought they were off the record, and theinterviewer asked how Julie's voice was and Blake responded something likt if you herd her youd cry.....

  • obviously before surgery

  • Yes, it was before she had the surgery.

She had such a wonderful voice.

  • after

her voice was destroyed AFTER Victor Victoria on Broadway in 1995/1996

  • i hope i look that healthy when im her age,,,,love her!

  • shes SOO BEAUTIFUL! ND TALENTED IN EVERYTHING

AND SOO MATURE AND HAS SUCHA MEANINGFUL SMILE ON HER FACE

    i LOOVE HER :D

  • the arrangement to "i could have danced" is quite atrocious, yet julie ,' of course, always sounds precocious :)

  • oh my... amazing... she's a true star!

  • Wow...did you see that amazing character change? It was so fluid and effortless!

  • She had such an amazing voice!! It's so sad that she can't sing anymore. Stupid doctors. But she is such an inspiration, either way!!

  • She still has a voice of the lovely Julie Andrews. Seen her at the Bowl in 08 and I was simply stuned by her talent and her voice she still has it but no 9O like she used to but still the most beautiful voice to ever listen to.

  • Julie never disappoints

  • She's amazing. Simply fabulous.

  • I Honsetly Adore This Woman And Have Done 4 Years!! She Is Truely An Inspiration 4 Anyone Who Wants 2 Do Musical Theatre!!! Truely Beautiful! xx

  • truley amazing

  • TRULY AMAZING!Julie Andrews is a true artist.A very good actor, a great singer, a perfect woman. What can we ask for?She has inspired me since I was 3 years old.She is a great star!

  • Maravilhosa voz, e ótima atriz exeberante classe.Ja vi muitos filmes, entre muitos fãs sou mais um.WTV.......

  • Julie, in my oppinion, is one of the most graceful lady I have even seen in my life. She is gracefully poised and there's a softness in her that makes her trully unique! Trully Lovely!

  • Julie Andrews is amazing!!!

  • Stupid doctors oughta be taken out and shot.

Love you, Julie! One of the most amazing and charismatic performers ever to grace the stage. Thanks for posting!

  • one of the most amazing performers ever to grace a stage, not to mention one of the most incredible human beings of all time. Dame Julie, we all greatly miss your presence on Broadway.

  • Breath-taking. Nothing less.

  • Didn't she host The 45th TA along side Jeremy Irons? But she's soooooo talented, no doubt. And she deserves every single award that she received. :)) Oh hail Julie Andrews!

  • I agree, and she should definitely have won more than she did!

  • i just love her. shes a national treasure in 2 countries

  • Julie is so talented!!!! I think she deserved the role as Eliza in the movie, but if she would have gotten it, who would have played Mary Poppins? I can't imagine Mary Poppins being played by anyone else. Julie is the best at EVERYTHING!!!

  • It really bothers me that when Dame Julie was given the title the press focused almost exclusively on Elizabeth Taylor.

  • That was in 2000 though, Julie had yet to make her career resurgence in The Princess Diaries and Shrek. It seems these days she's more beloved than ever.

  • shes soooooo talented =]

  • Oh yes! I am not a fanatic, but I do believe our dear Dame totally deserved to play Eliza... but she stuck it to Audrey at the Oscars, so it's all good in my book :-)

  • her voice was too good, she didnt sound improper enough, she sounded to pretty, in my opinion too pretty for Eliza.

  • oh she did a movie that suited her better and then won an award for it while audrey was not even nominated for an award. so it all worked out. ;) at least she did it on broadway before the movie.

  • Is it sad that when I finished watching this, I said to myself, "Marni Nixon who?!" She totally rocked Eliza and as most agree got gipped out of MFL, but so goes life.

  • You mean Julie deserved to be Eliza right? If you do, I totally agree! But she got Mary Poppins, so that's okay, I just wish she refused the job, instead of being dismissed. I hate to think Julie felt unwanted or not good enough.

  • I LOVE JULIE.

  • Some stars simply shine FOREVER. I burst into tears everytime I watch this video. Thanks for posting it!!!!

  • The doctors who messed up her voice should be shot

  • you know i wish i was a bad person to do that. but since im not i just got to hope someone else does it for all of us

  • @wwbwbgohbc he stole that God given gift from the world. How bad would it be if the docter was your dad.....

  • @wwbwbgohbc

If you don't go to hell for destroying Jule Andrew's voice, what do you go to hell for?

  • @wwbwbgohbc Wait... doctor's messed up her voice? When? D:

  • @wwbwbgohbc i so totally agree.. if only they can bring back the past methods of capital punishments ... am kidding.. julie is still the best! voice or no voice

  • My very favorite singer of all time ...Love you Julie

  • julie has her voice back, i do not know if she is singing again, but the problems resolved. anyhow, her voice is a gift. i agree, the clear, exactly pronounciation, the exactly intonation.... mmmmmmh you do not hear that very often today, because you can nearly "clean" everything in the studio! so i am very happy, that MY producer ist extremely looking on these things by MY singing!! eva

  • I have to tell you that you're wrong. Her "problem" is not resolved. She had a knife strike her vocal box.. that's not easily resolved. Still only 4 years ago, she was singing in a limited octave...

    Sorry you're wrong.

  • ohhh than is my information simply wrong. sorry for mrs andrews, i´ve heard longer time ago that everything is well in the meantime... newspapers ....

  • I mean, she's able to sing in a limited octave but unfortunately she doesn't have anywhere near the vocality she used to :( it's sad :(

  • you are completely right! very sad :( regards eva

  • The music drowns her out on I could have Danced All night!

  • she is the best!!!

  • Julie is magnificent. How we miss her one-of-a-kind instrument but she marches on and so must we...and with YouTube, that journey is just a little less painful. She just consumed these amazing roles...the Gospels of the American Musical Theatre.

  • I absolutely miss the good, clean musicals!!!

  • They don't make them like Julie Andrews anymore. She is incredible!

  • Absolutely delicious clip. Almost brought me to tears -what a great performer, and what a great gift she has been to us all for over forty years. This is something to savor over and over! Thanks so much for posting it.

  • amazing, what accent is she doing?

  • i think she is doing a cockney accent

  • this is amazing go julie! Although she can't sing anymore she is an amazing actress

  • Julie you are lovely, your diction is perfect and it is truly indicative of the english rose that you are.I think that everyone should speak in such perfect manner and i endevour to do so. I love you Julie Andrews, you are an inspiration and a true lady! xx

  • WOW!!!!! I've said on a couple of later vids though that you can hear the heaviness in Julie's voice and again its beginning here but she is still absoulutely AMAZING!

  • This is amazing. People on Broadway are so talented to put a peice down for 30 some years and then pick it up again and rock it out like this.

  • amazing woman

  • remember she is older here so if she is a little off forgive her

  • she really looks like a queen to me after watch princess diaries..

  • At first I thought she sounded a little flat during 'Danced' and then I remembered that it's impossible for her to sing flat, and I certainly shouldn't talk about singing flat, and I shut up.

  • haha i love this comment :) made me actually LOL

  • Hahahahahahaha

  • She gives me goosebumps, maybe because of childhood memories of her films, combined with the priceless beauty of her voice--but she's human, and real, and funny, and touching. More than other performers, she and Judy Garland have gifts that just set them apart. You care about them more and there is no one to take their place. I want Julie to live forever.

  • She is the definition of talent! She never ceases to amaze me with her talent, class, and graciousness.

  • Thanks for posting!

  • the last of the

    poised graceful privately public ladies.

and yes, chills, a tear, and floods of memories. ummm. it is certainly love-ely.

    TY Soulkiss87

  • The world would be a worse place if it had never been graced with her voice.

  • Julie i love u!

  • It's strange, whenever I hear her voice I feel so emotional. I loved "The sound of music" when I was little, I always dressed up like her and stood on chairs and such and sang =) So whenever I hear her sing, I just feel so emotional and get tears in my eyes :-)

  • how the heck does she stay looking so young??

  • ABsolutely class! and will be a gold for many years. Women of class and for ever history.

  • I cried and laughed at the same time watching this! So very moving.

  • fucking amazing... I can't Help but think whether it was her belting that gave her nodules...

  • Good God, what a talent. Magnificent.

  • Thanks for posting. Anything Julie Andrews

does she adds a touch of class. She is a STAR to the 1st degree & we don't have many of those entertainers left.

  • She had a beautiful voice.

I wish she could sing again.

  • I would like to see her in a new movie just as in Hollywood's golden ages. Love her

  • beautiful - thanks for posting this

  • even with the accent that she has to have for my fair lady her voice still sounds beautiful i love julie andrews!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • She has a beautiful voice.

  • amazing talent, amazing presence!!!

  • I miss her singing!

    great performance

  • is there any one on earth who doesn't love julie???

  • Nooooo! And even if there's one,he 's got a problem for sure

  • She's such a LADY!!!

    What a CLASS!

I wish I had seen her on stage!

  • Omg <3 this made me tear!!

  • Wow!! This is Truly Fantastic to see, and hear her Wonderful Voice again!! :D

She's in a League of her own, Just like Barbra is in Her own (in my Honest Opinion of course)!! ;)

Thx very much for this Video!! :)

  • Me too! It's one word for her:"SUPERCALIFRAGILISTIC....GREATBEAUTFIFULLADY"!

  • she's so beautiful. i too miss her singing

  • I can't find a single word to describe Dame Julie. Anyway, my thumb up, my respect, my love................

  • Julie Andrews is truly one of the greatest

entertainers of the 20th century. There is not

anything she could not do & everything she

did do was touched with her style and class.

They don't make stars like her anymore.

  • i miss her singing

  • wow she was still very young here~ and this was in the 90's huh? wow, but she aged very very lovely! So unfortunated about her throat surgury back then... god bless her though!!!

  • what the second song she singing the tiel of it

  • Its the theme from Camelot " Remember Camelot"

  • What a class act! Julie's performances over the years are nothing more than steller! I miss her singing performances on stage.

  • me too!

what a voice, what stage presence, movement, and diction! *sigh*

  • Amazing is not enough!!AWESOME GREAT MARVELOUS!! i love her

  • She's just a beautiful and talented woman! I am so inspired by her much like my mom and grandmother. She is truly sensational.

  • My god!! She really is amazing!!

  • her vocie is no mroe giher but not yet a soprano julie si still otomistic that i will come back again

  • I must say, I'm so so so sad that she cannot perform like this anymore.

  • Why ?

  • If she had played Eliza Doolittle on Film, as was originally intended, I believe the film would have been even more exceptional. Audrey Hepburn was a fantastic actress, but Julie would not have been dubbed and she is English. Her performance would have been one that was truly authentic.

  • I totally agree with you, to me she will always be the perfect vision of eliza, just the same as she will always be the perfect maria and mary poppins! But if she had done my fair lady (film) then we would have been deprived of her as mary poppins, maybe it was a worth while sacrifice because noone could have done that film as well as her! She is truly the most amazing singer and actress and it is such a shame she can't sing like this anymore...i miss her singing voice!

  • ... I hear you. However, are you aware that Walt Disney visited her personally backstage when she was in Camelot and she was pregnant when he asked her to do Poppins. She replied that she was unable to take part due to her pregnancy and he said he would wait. So while I agree, Walt had only Julie in mind for Poppins and so maybe she could have made both if he was prepared to wait. She won the Academy Award in the end so I guess it all worked out ... lol!
