I don't see the point of having Lala Ward's Romana juxtaposed with David Tennant's Doctor.
My exposure to Dr. Who is spotty, from years of watching reruns. My only exposure to Romana was when the 4th Doctor left Sarah Jane on Earth to answer an urgent summons from Gallifrey. There he was paired on a mission with Mary Tamm's Romanadvoratrelundar, who didn't like being called "Romana" for short. After the mission she regenerated to Lala Ward's Romana. I never saw her and K-9 leave E-Space.
i think if they wanted to they could bring romana back. if the reality bomb broke down barriers between worlds e-space will have re-opened and she could have returned. i personally would love to see romana return along with jenny the doctors daughter.
weather or not ou read into the stories and audio book canons romana became pesident of galifrey after leaving e space. she was also kidnapped by the dalek and keep as a slave/worker for 20 years(6th doctor time) that is of course if you belive the canon and read along with tthe books and audio stuff
Oi! I haven't read any of the old books but now I want to. i only read some of the new series and also thanks for puting that imformation...I think Romana is an interesting character.
I would say that Romona becoming president is COMPLETELY canon considering Shada was going to be a normal serial. Douglas Adams wrote perhaps the BEST story for a Doctor who episode and thats why it's an even bigger shame that it was never completely filmed or broadcast the way it should have been. I think Big Finish productions made a cartoon remake several years back... it's worth looking into.
I keep hearing this term Canon from the Outpost Gallifrey group. I read 3 books which dealt with the return of Romana. Blood and Prey and Goth Opera where he abilities and brain go down by at least a 3rd and Avalon where she becomes a amoral Gallifrey first President.
Anyone who has seen the last 3 4th Doctor seasons know this is absolutly contrary to the Romana we love.
I forgot Shada was modified from the original version when they made the remake a few years back. Only in the modified version was she President on Gallifrey. The term Canon means something like "Officially part of the story line". They can pick and choose whats Canon and what is not, usually based on if a story contains continuity errors with previous other stories. Lots of Davros stories are non-Canon, while others are considered Canon. I think Romana becoming President tho is Canon.
After Tom Baker AKA fourth Doc got to be de-facto President of Gallifrey but REFUSED to stay (can't remember who he appointed or what happened) I think he went back and gave the title to Romana at some point. He got to the point where after he absorbed the Matrix, he could pretty much come and go as he pleased and give orders to anyone and they'd obey. I've heard him referred to as the "3rd God Timelord" After Rassilon and Omega. It's all a bit jumbled in my head right now...
The Daleks and the Time Lords (the Gallifreyans) engaged in battle (the Time War) and Gallifrey burnt along with the Time Lords and the Daleks. Romana, however, was left behind by the 4th Doctor many years ago, in a place called E-Space. Whether or not she was involved with the Time War is not clear, but she will probably never return from E-Space...
@drracheljones well doctor who wiki states that she escaped from E-Space when the Doctor fetched her from there so she could become Lady President. Then, she was captured by the Daleks for twenty years after the fifth? I think? Doctor saved her from them. That's where her rumored third regeneration occurred, where she was more ruthless than the last.
dear sweet roman cathedrals and eat your paisley this is awesome.
and i'm not just saying that because ..

What is this song that you used? This is a pretty good video.
I wish they would bring back Romana; the Doctor can't be the last one left.

drracheljones (6 days ago) Show Hide Marked as spam Reply The Daleks and the Time Lords (the Gallifreyans) engaged in
Unfournatly because Davies does not want to bring anything back that does conform to his warped vision of DR Who
So no great companions, I'm suprised he even thought to bring Sarah back

I only started watching Docotr Who in the 9 session so i have to ask, what did the daleks do to galifrey and what happen tp Romana?

@drracheljones in the novels she became the time lord president and went to battle until they ressurected Rassilion.

@drracheljones yeah, I just enjoy myself imagining that she returns and stays with the doctor (they were terribly sweet together) :)
