  • Hi Zippo, I enjoy all your videos and appreciate your spot on tech data, I will be posting videos shortly, and wanted to pass along a tip to all that I found out. on letter series Briggs A,B,K,Y,Z,ZZ ,the older ones before 1942 were equipped with a 62235 oil retainer on the flywheel side ,not a true seal it would pass oil and eventually coat your points , making you lose spark or misfire, Briggs introduced oil seal # 290013 as the fix, and it fits pre 1942 as well as after 1942, a true seal.

  • @MrZorrack That's a fantastic tip to know for us old Briggs nuts!! Please submit a request to imbed your video to this one and I will get it approved. Thanks a bunch for taking the time to comment and for the great tip!!

  • thats so cool that your daughter is getting into things like that, not many do, and great engine :-)

  • just asking, but how old is your daughter?

  • Not too bad for being over 65 years old - thanks for the video!

  • Nice fine Zippo

  • Great video. I was anxiously waiting to hear what the problem was. I don't do very many old points style engines and even some of the ones I do, I change over to electronic.

  • @Ziva4Freedom Yay Me!!! lol

  • @oologahan Heya Buddy! It was made for "Bolens Products Division-Food Machinery "?????" For Washington Wisconsin "??????" That was all I could read on the gas tank. So I can only assume it was used for some sort of belt or conveyor back up power with its 6-1 reduction gear. Everything is SOOO Clean on this engine, which leads me to believe it was rarely used, or for a back up system. I'm still investigating its history. Cheers!!

  • Nice Job!!

  • Congrats on your discovery. The points on my 10hp have always been a glitch, even after I bypassed the mag and substituted a coil. I'll see how they work together, once the weather clears, and I can pull the head to check the valves and the piston/rings.

  • @GrincheyOne I had an old 9hp that was real picky that way too. Looking forward to seeing that old landlord back up and ready for snow duty!!

  • That's a sweet engine, love the old Husky sticker on the tank too!

  • @CSAKvids One side of the tank shows the Huski decal better than the other side, but there are still a few words I can't make out. It was made for Bolens though!! Fine print at the bottom of the tank told me that much. Cheers Charles!!

  • Yay! Congrats again.

  • Awesome!!!

  • 9 times out of 10 on these old briggs the spark issues are usually caused by dirty points or bad gap. i got a model B it runs but the carb needs to be rebuilt on mine. you gotta find your self one of the crankstart versions. they are pretty neat the bigger ones have a compression release.

  • You Americans always made ugly shity machines ,but i gotta respect that you got a history of making things for yourselves ,Canada loves you : )

  • @FrankaDith canadas where mtd's are made....

  • @Bobbymitchell10 I did not know that ,we invented the snowmobile, the propeller ,the Zipper and the light bulb, snowshoes and lacrosse goes to the natives of Canada ,the robot arm on the space station ,the seadoo ,tuques ,coastline farming, and now i add MTD to the list well learn something everyday ,nice piece of American history you got there now ill send you an MTD to put it in lol.

  • Very KOOL zippo! A west texas CHEERS to you brother!!

  • thats cool bud it is always cool to figure that stuff out

  • @65bit I was determined!! Mainly because I didn't want to spend the $ on a new coil if I didn't have to!!

  • Thumbs up bud! Double thumbs up for being able to spend time with your daughter out in the shop getting her hands dirty!

  • @oldchevy4x4 She loves to learn about these engines and asks very good questions when we're working on something. Thanks for stopping by Bro!

  • Nice job Zippo!

  • @edzgarage Thanks Edz! I had to step away from the engine for a few days and put my brain to work on possible solutions. Thanks to everyone on my "HELP" video, I was able to attack the engine at a different angle. It's always good to put our heads together when stumped!! Cheers Buddy!!

  • Great video. It's cool that even your daughter wanted to help out with the engine.

  • @Ram2253spd Heya Ram!! Yep....she loves learning about these old engines and has a knack for troubleshooting like her old man.

  • Your daughter did a pretty cool job to turn on the engine, good job.

It runs great, that's for sure.

  • Our famall M was like that, .020 was not enough.

  • If I had your knowledge on 2 strokes I'd be a happy man :)

  • Good deal man. Being able to keep things running is becoming a lost art with the disposable generation coming along. You always have cool stuff, and the stuff runs. That's awesome.
