Thanks for this mate, I have spend all day trying to replace a CV boot on my forester and this has helped me heaps. Only problem is I don't completely understand with the upper strut bolt? How do you mean that has to go back in the correct place, isnt it a tight fit though the holes in the stut? Also did you have to disconnect the ball joint?
@taza11659 Assuming it's the same setup on a Forester, it's not necessary to disconnect ball joint. The upper strut bolt adjusts camber and needs to be put back in the same place in order to preserve alignment. Mark it with some paint. Once you have that bolt out, and see it with your own eyes, it'll make sense.
nicely done, this will help me with my buddies forester. Good stuff! :)

@JC3series Best of luck. Not a very hard job, all things considered, providing that bolts aren't too rusty.

would this work on a 97' Subaru Impreza 1.8 AWD? i got a Left Front Outer Boot ripped

@MrKaoVue It SHOULD work, but don't hold me to that. I replaced a CV axle on my wife's automatic FWD 1993 1.8L Impreza and it was the same procedure.

@MercedesDieselGuy Yeah the setup is exactly the same on my 2001 Forester. Will try disconnecting the strut. Thanks for the walk through.
