Lol...no, it sure doesn't. You flex your abs every time you move, stand up, laugh, or basically do anything physical. What I was doing is called the 'drawing in' maneuver and it involves drawing the belly button in towards your spine to stabilize your trunk, most especially the low back. Letting these muscles relax for prolonged periods of time causes low back pain, tight hip flexors, weak glutes, and compression of the spine. As long as you're not squeezing hard there's no harm to baby.
No, what I told you applies to both pregnancy and non-pregnancy. Yes, during normal times you should try to keep the core muscles engaged at all times. During pregnancy you should relax a little but continue to use your core to support both you and your growing baby.
Thank you! As far as room for baby to come through my midwife tells me I have LOTS of room in all directions and baby will move through with no problems. I'm very happy about that and will take the bigger hips any day.
No, I haven't tried Target yet but was planning to. Yes, I love the birthing center and after 2 miscarriages last year I'm really turned off by hospitals. They're horrible, sterile, and I felt like a number, always being poked and prodded. At the birthing center I'm so spoiled and a part of the family. The monthly meetings are done in the suites and I get to lay back on a real bed and just talk to my midwife. I love it!
Ur right, better later than never :) You'll enjoy this especially more so if you plan on having a #2nd child later, to compare too. Congrats on your pregnancy, and welcome to week 17! Why not the nursing bra? I found it cheaper to do nursing ones b/c they expand w/ you through pregnancy as well as incase you decide to nurse. U save TONS of money, I promise. The acne gets better w/ time :) The hips, oh I feel your pain! Misery. Do u have a birth plan?
I went with the prenatal bra because it was really comfy and I didn't like the nursing bras that Mimi Maternity had. I will def. be getting one later on as I plan on nursing for sure. I'll look for one that grows with me because I'm not sure how long this one will fit but it was on clearance, so I figured it was better than nothing. :) As far as a birth plan, we're going with a midwife at a birthing center, so all natural water birth and no pain meds. Thanks, I love your videos!
Have you tried Target? I know... of all places though, Target has the best ones for comfort that are nursing ones. I don't like the ones at Motherhood & Mimi either. Any particular reason u choose a birthing center over hospital and/or home?
Yes, I had a great morning, I just feel more than a little self-conscious watching myself on camera as I talk. I've never tried it before or even done a video chat so I kept getting distracted when I'd see myself make a weird expression. Hopefully with practice I'll get better. :)

So, when flexing the abs, it helps your lower back only when pregnant? Even when sitting down, should we be doing this to help the back pain?
