I'm gay, brought up Catholic but now Atheist; I don't know if my feelings about gay marriage is just residue from my upbringing, but I DO see marriage as a religious sacrament!
I'm fine with gay couples being LEGALLY Married, but I don't see why they should be allowed to have their ceremony in a church, if that church doesn't agree with what they're doing!
Though it is possible that I just don't understand the issue well enough, or the difference between marriage and civil partnership...
@meztini Well, I can't speak for anybody else, but I'm ONLY arguing for legal marriage; if a church wants to stay bigoted as hell, let 'em...just give us the legal stuff and we'll cope, I say.
Is there nothing similar to civil partnerships in America?? I took that as a given...
In England we just got "gay Christians" that want to get married in churches, and feminists that want to become Catholic priests... Altogether a bit mad if you ask me!
@meztini Well, here'z the thing...we believe in EQUALITY in this country; as such, we want the WORD "marriage", dammit. Even if the institution is different, calling it something else gets into some of that "separate but equal" stuff that didn't work with post-slavery black folks and it's not gonna work with the LGBT community; either it gets called "marriage" and is the same legally for everybody, or it goes away entirely.
Hey man, that's cool with me! I understood the whole civil partnership thing was a way of "testing the waters" until they could work out the fine print.
If a non-religious man and woman who can't have children are allowed to be "married" then I see no real distinction between them and same sex couples...
PERSONALLY doesn't bother me what they call it, but yes I can certainly see how the distinction is unfair and insulting. Not really something I've given much thought!
Jumping into the piranha pool, I know, but how about people that are against same sex marriage not because they are against homosexuals but because they are against marriage?
Here here! I am still waiting for the day my state allows my fiancee and I to marry. Patiently waiting. If we're kept waiting much longer, it may turn to rabidly waiting.
But Miss Bionic wouldn't it make sense to not label it marriage since thats a Christian thing and just give it the same rights? I mean I think that would make everyone happy since Christians are only butt hurt over the label and nothing else, it makes the most logical sense and it sounds totally fair.
@BionicDance Good point but the main thing to me are the rights being denied all the other dumb shit having to do with labels and shit thats just childish dumb bullshit "hey i want this name" so on and so forth the labels mean nothing, we shouldnt be fighting for gay marriage we should be fighting for gay rights, thats all I care about, as far as the rest of it goes, I couldnt give a fuck less what happens. lol

And if I got married, I'd want it to mean NOTHING to the world outside of my family and the girl I loved; I don't care if you ever know about it, I don't care how you feel about it, I'd just care that I'm in love and want to start a family
Anyway, stop trying to turn this around; you're making bald-faced assertions without backing them up. Do so in your next reply or you're a troll
I think it's important to remember that calling something marriage doesn't bypass the requirements for the definition, no matter how many times you angrily shout it. Just saying. Good day.
@BionicDance I think that because you could not begin to comprehend that people share different views than you, let alone consider accepting them, you are a bigot.
@OneCatholic Oh, puh-LEASE. *rolls eyes* A bigot is someone who is against other people because of their beliefs, who want to prevent people from living their own lives their own way, perhaps even kill them; I have no such desires toward people with different views.
I AM, however, against people telling others what they can or can't do, and religious people tell homosexuals that WE CAN'T GET MARRIED. It doesn't matter to them that gay marriage has no effect on straight marriage. THAT'S bigotry!
A bigot is a person who refuses to tolerate opposing views. YOU are refusing to tolerate mine, and thus you are a bigot. A dictionary would be a lovely tool for you.
"obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices" Read your own posts, particularly those directed at me.
@OneCatholic First of all, leave the jabs and insults OUT, or I'll just block you; life's too short to put up with that kind of bullshit. Get me?
I'm perfectly willing to tolerate your VIEWS...I'm just NOT willing to let you FORCE THEM ON ME. I'm not willing to let your views dictate what I'm allowed to do. So long as I'm not hurting you or directly interfering in your life, you have absolutely NO RIGHT to tell me what to do. And that includes whether or not I get married to another woman!
@BionicDance You called me a bigot. I called you a bigot to emphasize its correct definition. Are you always so sensitive when you are losing a debate? Can you not take what you deal out?
I'm forcing MY views on YOU? Who was the one who said, flat out, that I was wrong, without an argument? That would be you.
If you really care more about your pride than about educating yourself, go ahead and block me. I could not care less.
@OneCatholic I'm not LOSING this debate, you twit. *rolls eyes*
You ARE wrong; you have only to look it up to see that this is HISTORICALLY SO.
And I'm not forcing ANYTHING on you, fool. Have I made laws to force you to conform to my way of life? Have I said your beliefs make you less of a person or unworthy to be a citizen? No.
I haven't done ANYTHING bigoted except tell you that you're factually incorrect about something. Telling someone who got a math problem wrong isn't bigoted EITHER.
@BionicDance By the way, what kind of terrible argument is telling me I'm "wrong" because you say I am, irregardless of the fact that you have no idea what you're talking about?
And you're not wrong because I SAY you are; look it up! Marriage is NOT a religion-exclusive institution. Seriously...look it up; the facts are there, if you're only willing to do a little research.
@BionicDance You sure should have used Google before attempting to correct my grammar. You are simply lazy. Irregardless is slang that originated in the early 20th century.
You did not say marriage was not religious-exclusive, you said the religious definition was wrong, you bigot. Your posts are here for all to read. How can you try and deny?
@OneCatholic The religious definition of marriage IS wrong; look it the fuck up!
The religious claim that marriage is ONLY an institution granted by their god, and that is historically, provably, objectively FALSE.
And it's the religious who are the bigots, because they try to prevent others from marrying; I'm not going to prevent you from marrying. Which of us is the bigot? It's the one forcing their views on others...namely the religious when it comes to marriage.
@BionicDance You know, using the words "provably" and "objectively" sure hold a lot more weight when used honestly. You are abusing them extensively.
And, the "religious" are not preventing one single person from marrying. They are, indeed, preventing the definition of marriage from changing. Big difference, so bit I cannot emphasize it enough.
And why would you love to pretend that only the religious support a man-and-woman marriage? Is it because it's easier to attack? Pathetic of you.
@OneCatholic "Redefining marriage?" Not at all. Lakota chief Crazy Horse had one or two male spouse(s) and many other Native American nations also have had what we now call same-sex marriages. Ethnographers have documented this. Examples: Omahas, Zapotecs, Mohaves, Crow, Winnebago, Yuma and Timucua. Other cultures too. In 17th century Fukian Province China, same-sex marriages between gay men seem to have been common. And in West Africa, "woman marriage[s]" practiced by many nations.
@OneCatholic You wrote: ".... They are, indeed, preventing the definition of marriage from changing. ...."
"Changing?" Not at all.
In the journal of the French skeptic and essayist Michel De Montaigne (1580-1581), documented Portuguese same-sex marriages celebrated in a nuptial mass in Rome:
".......They married one another, male to male, at Mass, with the same ceremonies with which we perform our marriages, read the same gospel service, and then went to bed and lived together. ..."
@OneCatholic My people were here before your people, Catholic. And we could have same sex partners and even (though rarely) polyamorous. You changed the definition first.
Congrats! i could not have said it better myself :-) You are 100% right! Marriage is (or SHOULD BE at any rate) the union between two people who want to spend the rest of their lives together! (applause)
@Aguy187 When it comes to someone's sexuality, there should be no burden of proof, because lacking any kind of genetic evidence, there is no proof to give except our own experiences, and how we feel. But, since humans are animals, and in fact Mammals, and Great Apes, since homosexuality has been observed in the animal kingdom, there is no reason to assume it isn't natural, whether it is genetic or social in nature. So, your burden of proof can stuff itself.
two people love each and they commit a vow to spend the rest of their lives together. whats wrong with the way the participants are? romance is based upon the feeling. and not whose feeling it.
who are you to determine how an adult should act? are they harming anyone verbally or physically?
also gay marriages dont reduce the value of marriage but only enhance it. it means marriage isnt just about offspring production or rearing but the attraction between the couple.
@xXBlackxRebelXx I hope that's the royal "you", cuz otherwise, if you think you're arguing AGAINST my stance, well...we're both on the same side on this one.
No, you need to learn that there is a special meaning to marriage, and the word itself too, that has been shared for centuries, and recently gays have been trying to help destroy that meaning. Come up with a new name, and everyone will be happy. The term marriage should always be only for the man and woman.
If there is NOTHING special about marriage then stop fucking asking for the rights to gay marriage you dumbass? You should get over it and just want the benefits and such, stop wanting the word if it doesn't matter, ill bet you'll get what you want 10 times faster.
And your beliefs are false, you are selfish, you want to ruin the tradition of man and woman sharing a bond CALLED marriage. You should not be allowed to ruin this bond, and i sure hope American people realize this. It is not discrimination to call it civil union. It is the right thing to do, since people like you want to ruin the meaning of marriage.
Well why should i support gay marriage if its nothing but a statement declaring your married? Everyone will be worm food in the end, so lets all let out our true feelings, and act on our thoughts instead of believing that there is a bigger picture. If I did not believe in Natural Laws given to us by God, such as free will, i would be completely against gay marriage because it does not support the strength of the human race.
@BillyzaCoon It's more than just a statement; there are legal benefits and responsibilities that come with it, such as inheritance and hospital visitation rights.
i believe that having two of the same sex marry is harmful to the children they would adopt, and that it is naturally not meant to be. We were given our reproductive organs for a reason.
Well i see marriage as a bond of love between a couple (man and woman) that is noticed by God. However, I do think gays should be allowed benefits and be noticed by the State. I would rather have it called a civil union or something like that.
Well explain the beginning of everything, some supernatural being had to be there. And explain DNA, there had to be a designer in the beginning. And explain your emotions. Why do other creatures not show these emotions? But lets not get too deep into the argument over religion, as neither of our views will change. If calling it something different is bigotry, then calling me a white, male would be discrimination.
@BillyzaCoon No, there DIDN'T have to be a designer; if you study how science actually WORKS, how the universe actually behaves, you'll see that it's all 100% natural, no god required.
...but that would require actually STUDYING, instead of just going with what feels right. *rolls eyes*
Okay, i was trying not to be an asshole, but you obviously have chosen to be one. So, the universe continues to expand. It started expanding at one point. It had to start somewhere. It wouldn't start "naturally". My eggs don't get cooked in the morning naturally. I had to cook them. Some supernatural being, or God, had to start the universe.
@BillyzaCoon Yes, your eggs DID get cooked in the morning...YOU ARE NATURAL. You're part of the natural world.
And no, some supernatural being did NOT have to start the universe. Even if it WERE supernatural, you don't need an intelligence to do it, you don't need a GOD to do it; the universe is based on a pattern...it wasn't BUILT. It formed naturally based on that original pattern.
Look into fractals to see how complexity can come from simplicity.
@BillyzaCoon i know this is 3 weeks old, but i would like to interject and say that yes, there are other creatures in nature that have been shown to be exclusively homosexual. Dogs, cats, mostly mammals in general. Yes, heterosexuality is the predominant thing in nature, but the animal kingdom does produce homosexuals, so referring to nature as a reason there shouldn't be gay marriage is a fallacy.
dude, if people wana fuck the same sex thats there choice....but marriage is kinda a special thing between a man and a woman...not a toaster and a cat or two chicks
I agree whole heartedly, love is all thats important in this case. I have absolutely no problem with gay men or women wanting to get married. Being married is supposed to be a bond of love between two people, who want to share their lives and experiences together. I dont give a damn wether or not reproduction can actually occur, and with the way our population is going, we can afford to hold back. I just wish my gay buddy Mark would quit hitting on me...creeping me OUT man!
just a question: would you be mad if gay marriage was given a different name? or would that just be an insult to you? I bring this up because i see it as a compromise b/n hardcore traditional conservatives and liberals.
@doaftheloaf actually if nature went gay, faggy, homosexual they would DIE u dumb ass but i wouldnt expect u to know that i am not anti fag i dont care if they have butt sex all they want but mariage is a special sanctity between the couple and GOD and due to the fact that they are homosexual (p.c. for fags) means they are living away from god so they realy dont want to be married right?
@doaftheloaf hahahaha no im good for right now. im not anti-fag and i will always say fag queer and gay all i want homos took those words and made a new deffinition but anyways you guys and probly dykes butches should learn a lil mor than what the liberal schools are teaching, because this country WAS built with GOD in mind and homosexuality is a sin and a lifeCHOICE get over it
@NationGuarded2012 you say you're not "anti-fag", but the rest of your post betrays the fact that you are. your country has a secular base, homosexuality is not any more wrong than heterosexuality, and they both come equally naturally.
What are you trying to protect heterosexual marriages from? There isn't a limited amount of love in Iowa. It isn't a non-renewable resource. If Amy and Barbara or Mike and Steve love each other, it doesn't mean that John and Mary can't. ~Ed Fallon
Well said! even if people like citZeit can't understand how liberals who promote tolerance when it's called for choose not to tolerate the intolerable!
Continued.... If gay people were just people who had orange skin, they'd be judged by the color of their skin by the privileged unhappy people with blue skin. The oppressive straight majority is like the alcoholic father who beats the shit out of his kids for any reason. The kids have done nothing wrong, but the father needs a pin cushion to alleviate his own misery. That's the epitome of cowardice.
The reason why most heterosexual people don't like gay people is because they're miserable inside, and they really don't love themselves or their partners at all, so they need to try and tear down another group to make themselves feel better. Most people do not have the ability to love, gay or straight. When you're a part of the straight majority(privileged), this lack of love leads to hate which needs no reason and oppresses ANY minority group. A reason is invented to justify one's violence.
@wonderwhaz797 Stop it. Your comments is just increasing the division and the hatred. This can go both ways. "Oppressive majority"? "most heterosexual people"? Gay marriage support would not be in the 40s in some states were it not for straight people. We are not all devilish. In fact, most of us are very supportive of your cause.
Now just don't go around labeling us all as devils just because SOME heterosexuals don't like you. Its not helping.
@TheMisken I'm sorry that you don't have the ability to LISTEN. I said MOST, NOT ALL Heterosexuals. MOST. Do you understand? The majority of straight people are oppressive, that's a concrete fact. Now, I'll say it again since you are a typical selective hearing type of person. I said MOST, NOT ALL. Don't come on here picking a fight. And don't make up nonsense that most are supportive and that it's because of straights. That's BS! And it's condescending too! Gay marriage is still not allowed.
@TheMisken If the majority of straight people were to support gay marriage and support the fight that gays have to constantly engage in, gay people would have their right to marry, but MOST, NOT ALL, MOST straights either don't give a flying shit to the moon, or are apathetic to everything, or down right just hate gay people. MOST, misken, MOST. You see how stupid that is when I have to constantly say, MOST. Learn to communicate adequately and start by listening.
@wonderwhaz797 This is the kind of inflammatory language that is not going to help you in life at all. I can understand that you are frustrated. But if you are so determined to yell, to blame, and to hate; ... well, all I can say is that your actions are completely antithetical to what you are asking of others.
@TheMisken Neither the inflammatory or the peaceful way works, especially with people like you who don't know how to listen. Did you actually read my response clearly without acting like a spoiled child and sulking? Try once in a while to swallow your pride and actually listen to what another person has to say, maybe you'll learn something. No, because you can't. You're more interested in your self and your precious hurt feelings. I know that's popular nowadays in this soft spineless society.
@TheMisken Furthermore, don't tell me that you understand the isolation that gay people feel everyday, because if you're straight, you don't know how it feels to hold your partner's hand in public and practically get stoned for it. You can take those situations for granted, because you're straight, so don't insult my intelligence. And, again, if you had been listening to what I said in my initial response to this video, then you wouldn't waste time talking like a sophomoric rookie therapist!
@wonderwhaz797 of course i don't understand. did i ever say i did? I'm just noting the immature way you are handling this. No, I was not hurt by the way you insulted straight people, although I do admit that I feel hurt that you are treating me the same way that I am sure some people on the street might treat you.
I probably won't be replying since your reaction is getting far out of hand. I'd just like to tell you that this is NOT the proper way to handle stress and discrimination.
@TheMisken Look, you're correct when it comes to pointing out my anger, and you're correct when saying that an angry reaction isn't the proper way of handling stress and discrimination, but it's not always easy to remain calm. You'll learn more about this when you get a little older. A lot of frustration can be avoided when both people know how to listen clearly to the other one, and I hope you recognize that your initial failure to listen to my first response is what caused a lot of confusion.
If you create a new religon and then claim that it is important to your religion for Gay marrage to be allowed. If the refuse then you can claim decrimiation under the freedom of religon act. I heard (could be wrong) that pot was allowed in some churches because they claimed it enhanced the God experiance. Just a thought, sometimes you need a crupped system because it is easy to maliuplate. I understand that this is a right and you shouldn't have to be clock and dagger about it though.
FFS these people make me sick. Don't the bigots know it's in the constitution. Full faith and credit, and equal protection under the law. I think we should all dress up in rainbow ninja suits and chase them around their suburban homes (and I"m straight)
Civil unions are not portable across state lines. And that's the least of it.
Unless civil unions are not only legally the same as marriages but also called by the same name, equality has not been achieved, and that's unconstitutional, illegal.
Then your issue is with civil unions, not marriage. I suggest you refocus your efforts on fixing the few remaining problems with CUs and stop mucking with real marriage. GOOD DAY!
You do have marriage. You can enter into a heterosexual marriage just like anyone else. You have equal rights--you want special rights. Sorry--no marriage for you!

I think it's important to remember that calling something marriage doesn't bypass the requirements for the definition, no matter how many times you angrily shout it. Just saying. Good day.
OneCatholic 1 year ago
@OneCatholic Given that the religious definition of marriage is wrong, factually and historically, your comment is pretty irrelevant.
BionicDance 1 year ago
@BionicDance I think that because you could not begin to comprehend that people share different views than you, let alone consider accepting them, you are a bigot.
OneCatholic 1 year ago
@OneCatholic Oh, puh-LEASE. *rolls eyes* A bigot is someone who is against other people because of their beliefs, who want to prevent people from living their own lives their own way, perhaps even kill them; I have no such desires toward people with different views.
I AM, however, against people telling others what they can or can't do, and religious people tell homosexuals that WE CAN'T GET MARRIED. It doesn't matter to them that gay marriage has no effect on straight marriage. THAT'S bigotry!
BionicDance 1 year ago
@BionicDance You are ignorant, huh?
OneCatholic 1 year ago
@OneCatholic First of all, leave the jabs and insults OUT, or I'll just block you; life's too short to put up with that kind of bullshit. Get me?
I'm perfectly willing to tolerate your VIEWS...I'm just NOT willing to let you FORCE THEM ON ME. I'm not willing to let your views dictate what I'm allowed to do. So long as I'm not hurting you or directly interfering in your life, you have absolutely NO RIGHT to tell me what to do. And that includes whether or not I get married to another woman!
BionicDance 1 year ago
@BionicDance You called me a bigot. I called you a bigot to emphasize its correct definition. Are you always so sensitive when you are losing a debate? Can you not take what you deal out?
I'm forcing MY views on YOU? Who was the one who said, flat out, that I was wrong, without an argument? That would be you.
If you really care more about your pride than about educating yourself, go ahead and block me. I could not care less.
OneCatholic 1 year ago
@OneCatholic I'm not LOSING this debate, you twit. *rolls eyes*
You ARE wrong; you have only to look it up to see that this is HISTORICALLY SO.
And I'm not forcing ANYTHING on you, fool. Have I made laws to force you to conform to my way of life? Have I said your beliefs make you less of a person or unworthy to be a citizen? No.
I haven't done ANYTHING bigoted except tell you that you're factually incorrect about something. Telling someone who got a math problem wrong isn't bigoted EITHER.
BionicDance 1 year ago
@BionicDance By the way, what kind of terrible argument is telling me I'm "wrong" because you say I am, irregardless of the fact that you have no idea what you're talking about?
OneCatholic 1 year ago
@OneCatholic "Irregardless" isn't a word. :P
And you're not wrong because I SAY you are; look it up! Marriage is NOT a religion-exclusive institution. Seriously...look it up; the facts are there, if you're only willing to do a little research.
BionicDance 1 year ago
@BionicDance You sure should have used Google before attempting to correct my grammar. You are simply lazy. Irregardless is slang that originated in the early 20th century.
You did not say marriage was not religious-exclusive, you said the religious definition was wrong, you bigot. Your posts are here for all to read. How can you try and deny?
OneCatholic 1 year ago
@OneCatholic The religious definition of marriage IS wrong; look it the fuck up!
The religious claim that marriage is ONLY an institution granted by their god, and that is historically, provably, objectively FALSE.
And it's the religious who are the bigots, because they try to prevent others from marrying; I'm not going to prevent you from marrying. Which of us is the bigot? It's the one forcing their views on others...namely the religious when it comes to marriage.
BionicDance 1 year ago
@BionicDance You know, using the words "provably" and "objectively" sure hold a lot more weight when used honestly. You are abusing them extensively.
And, the "religious" are not preventing one single person from marrying. They are, indeed, preventing the definition of marriage from changing. Big difference, so bit I cannot emphasize it enough.
And why would you love to pretend that only the religious support a man-and-woman marriage? Is it because it's easier to attack? Pathetic of you.
OneCatholic 1 year ago
@OneCatholic You're not willing to do any research, clearly. You're here only as a troll. Goodbye.

".......They married one another, male to male, at Mass, with the same ceremonies with which we perform our marriages, read the same gospel service, and then went to bed and lived together. ..."
seahorse05 1 year ago 12
@OneCatholic My people were here before your people, Catholic. And we could have same sex partners and even (though rarely) polyamorous. You changed the definition first.

Kawamura2 1 year ago
two people love each and they commit a vow to spend the rest of their lives together. whats wrong with the way the participants are? romance is based upon the feeling. and not whose feeling it.
who are you to determine how an adult should act? are they harming anyone verbally or physically?
also gay marriages dont reduce the value of marriage but only enhance it. it means marriage isnt just about offspring production or rearing but the attraction between the couple.

No, you need to learn that there is a special meaning to marriage, and the word itself too, that has been shared for centuries, and recently gays have been trying to help destroy that meaning. Come up with a new name, and everyone will be happy. The term marriage should always be only for the man and woman.
BillyzaCoon 1 year ago
@BillyzaCoon NOW who's being fucking selfish?
All of this is in your own head; there is NOTHING special about marriage, except what you decide is special. Get over it.
BionicDance 1 year ago
@BionicDance
If there is NOTHING special about marriage then stop fucking asking for the rights to gay marriage you dumbass? You should get over it and just want the benefits and such, stop wanting the word if it doesn't matter, ill bet you'll get what you want 10 times faster.
BillyzaCoon 1 year ago
@BillyzaCoon Now you're quibbling over the definition of the word "special", and I'm not going to play that game with you.
There is NOTHING about marriage that requires the participants be of opposite sexes. Get over it.

@BionicDance
There is nothing that requires gays to have the right to get married, as it is seen nowhere in the constitution.

BillyzaCoon 1 year ago
@BillyzaCoon If someone else's marriage ruins your own, you need to learn to mind your own fucking business.
BionicDance 1 year ago
Well why should i support gay marriage if its nothing but a statement declaring your married? Everyone will be worm food in the end, so lets all let out our true feelings, and act on our thoughts instead of believing that there is a bigger picture. If I did not believe in Natural Laws given to us by God, such as free will, i would be completely against gay marriage because it does not support the strength of the human race.
BillyzaCoon 1 year ago
@BillyzaCoon It's more than just a statement; there are legal benefits and responsibilities that come with it, such as inheritance and hospital visitation rights.
And your god doesn't exist.
BionicDance 1 year ago
Answer this, Why do humans have morals? And what do you believe happens to us when we die?
BillyzaCoon 1 year ago
@BillyzaCoon Humans have morals because they're useful for survival.
When we die, we're worm food, nothing more.
BionicDance 1 year ago
Also, i believe calling it a civil union would be classification, not discrimination as there would be no denying of rights.
BillyzaCoon 1 year ago
@BillyzaCoon It's discrimination because it's SEPARATE, and therefore not equal.
Calling it "civil univions" while everyone else gets a "marriage" is no different than having "Whites Only" drinking fountains.
BionicDance 1 year ago
i believe that having two of the same sex marry is harmful to the children they would adopt, and that it is naturally not meant to be. We were given our reproductive organs for a reason.
BillyzaCoon 1 year ago
@BillyzaCoon Believe it all you like, but you're wrong.
And we weren't "given" anything; that's simply how the human race evolved.
BionicDance 1 year ago
@BionicDance
When you speak of marriage what exactly do you mean?
BillyzaCoon 1 year ago
@BillyzaCoon What do you THINK I mean?
Getting married is a legal contract with the state which entails certain benefits and responsibilities.
BionicDance 1 year ago
@BionicDance
Well i see marriage as a bond of love between a couple (man and woman) that is noticed by God. However, I do think gays should be allowed benefits and be noticed by the State. I would rather have it called a civil union or something like that.
BillyzaCoon 1 year ago
@BillyzaCoon God doesn't exist; your definition fails.
And you CAN'T give gay marriage a different name; that's bigotry. It absolutely HAS to be the same, or it's discrimination.
BionicDance 1 year ago
@BionicDance
BillyzaCoon 1 year ago
@BillyzaCoon No, there DIDN'T have to be a designer; if you study how science actually WORKS, how the universe actually behaves, you'll see that it's all 100% natural, no god required.
...but that would require actually STUDYING, instead of just going with what feels right. *rolls eyes*
BionicDance 1 year ago
@BionicDance
BillyzaCoon 1 year ago
@BillyzaCoon Yes, your eggs DID get cooked in the morning...YOU ARE NATURAL. You're part of the natural world.
And no, some supernatural being did NOT have to start the universe. Even if it WERE supernatural, you don't need an intelligence to do it, you don't need a GOD to do it; the universe is based on a pattern...it wasn't BUILT. It formed naturally based on that original pattern.
Look into fractals to see how complexity can come from simplicity.
No god required.
BionicDance 1 year ago
@BillyzaCoon i know this is 3 weeks old, but i would like to interject and say that yes, there are other creatures in nature that have been shown to be exclusively homosexual. Dogs, cats, mostly mammals in general. Yes, heterosexuality is the predominant thing in nature, but the animal kingdom does produce homosexuals, so referring to nature as a reason there shouldn't be gay marriage is a fallacy.
Kawamura2 1 year ago
dude, if people wana fuck the same sex thats there choice....but marriage is kinda a special thing between a man and a woman...not a toaster and a cat or two chicks

That's the epitome of cowardice.
wonderwhaz797 1 year ago
Hear Hear!!! I do say! I like when someone can express their anger and frustration in a civilized way.
bkkawaii5 1 year ago
The reason why most heterosexual people don't like gay people is because they're miserable inside, and they really don't love themselves or their partners at all, so they need to try and tear down another group to make themselves feel better. Most people do not have the ability to love, gay or straight. When you're a part of the straight majority(privileged), this lack of love leads to hate which needs no reason and oppresses ANY minority group. A reason is invented to justify one's violence.
wonderwhaz797 1 year ago
@wonderwhaz797 Stop it. Your comments is just increasing the division and the hatred. This can go both ways. "Oppressive majority"? "most heterosexual people"? Gay marriage support would not be in the 40s in some states were it not for straight people. We are not all devilish. In fact, most of us are very supportive of your cause.
Now just don't go around labeling us all as devils just because SOME heterosexuals don't like you. Its not helping.
TheMisken 1 year ago
@TheMisken I'm sorry that you don't have the ability to LISTEN. I said MOST, NOT ALL Heterosexuals. MOST. Do you understand? The majority of straight people are oppressive, that's a concrete fact. Now, I'll say it again since you are a typical selective hearing type of person. I said MOST, NOT ALL. Don't come on here picking a fight. And don't make up nonsense that most are supportive and that it's because of straights. That's BS! And it's condescending too! Gay marriage is still not allowed.
wonderwhaz797 1 year ago
@TheMisken If the majority of straight people were to support gay marriage and support the fight that gays have to constantly engage in, gay people would have their right to marry, but MOST, NOT ALL, MOST straights either don't give a flying shit to the moon, or are apathetic to everything, or down right just hate gay people. MOST, misken, MOST. You see how stupid that is when I have to constantly say, MOST. Learn to communicate adequately and start by listening.
wonderwhaz797 1 year ago
@wonderwhaz797 This is the kind of inflammatory language that is not going to help you in life at all. I can understand that you are frustrated. But if you are so determined to yell, to blame, and to hate; ... well, all I can say is that your actions are completely antithetical to what you are asking of others.
TheMisken 1 year ago
@TheMisken Neither the inflammatory or the peaceful way works, especially with people like you who don't know how to listen. Did you actually read my response clearly without acting like a spoiled child and sulking? Try once in a while to swallow your pride and actually listen to what another person has to say, maybe you'll learn something. No, because you can't. You're more interested in your self and your precious hurt feelings. I know that's popular nowadays in this soft spineless society.
wonderwhaz797 1 year ago
@TheMisken Furthermore, don't tell me that you understand the isolation that gay people feel everyday, because if you're straight, you don't know how it feels to hold your partner's hand in public and practically get stoned for it. You can take those situations for granted, because you're straight, so don't insult my intelligence. And, again, if you had been listening to what I said in my initial response to this video, then you wouldn't waste time talking like a sophomoric rookie therapist!
wonderwhaz797 1 year ago
@wonderwhaz797 of course i don't understand. did i ever say i did? I'm just noting the immature way you are handling this. No, I was not hurt by the way you insulted straight people, although I do admit that I feel hurt that you are treating me the same way that I am sure some people on the street might treat you.
I probably won't be replying since your reaction is getting far out of hand. I'd just like to tell you that this is NOT the proper way to handle stress and discrimination.
TheMisken 1 year ago
@TheMisken Look, you're correct when it comes to pointing out my anger, and you're correct when saying that an angry reaction isn't the proper way of handling stress and discrimination, but it's not always easy to remain calm. You'll learn more about this when you get a little older. A lot of frustration can be avoided when both people know how to listen clearly to the other one, and I hope you recognize that your initial failure to listen to my first response is what caused a lot of confusion.
