A wedding dress shouldn't be considered a "BIG" purchase period. It's the same with a prom dress, you're wearing it once for this event that's special in your life. It's good to do research before buying, especially when shopping at bridal stores. The important factor is adding alteration cost when you have a budget. But honestly......there's no need spending thousands of dollars on a dress you'll wear once..unless it's 10 dresses in one.

Here's advice: Don't spend a fortune on a wedding dress that you will wear but ONE time. If you want to spend a lot of money on something, spend money on a house. It is an investment. An expensive dress is not.
I agree, Unfortunatly people know you will need a wedding dress so they make the prices rediculous... dont pay it.... look ugly on a VERY special day :P
