  • Is that Neil Diamond conducting the funeral services? lol

  • I agree that there are a lot more people that should have at least been mentioned such as why Ruth and Donna were absent from it. BUT given the circumstances seeing Benny, Linc, Kelly and Chuck come back was nice. and the flashbacks were good ones. I liked how they towards the end showed a lot of her and Langley to make up for not giving him a proper sendoff. Though I wish they had shown at least ONE clip of her and Charles. I LOVED the letters. If you have the rest fo it, please post it.

  • I love those shoes that Billy Clyde was wearing!

  • This sorry excuse for a funeral-only half the airtime given to this character of 35 years. Where was the black & white episodes showing Phoebe from back in 1970-71 for instance. Where was Donna, Verla Grubbs, Hillary Wilson, Nick Davis, Paul Martin (her favorite son-in-law), Bitsy Davidson, Charlie & Cecily Brent, Enid Nelson (one of her supposed best friends), Juanita Ramsey or even Marian Colby for example.

  • @tallulah1961 most of the black and white episodes are lost. The shows run from 1970 up until around November 1976 (and many right up to late 1977) are lost as the videotapes were costly and erased to make more episodes. A few 16mm film prints survive of some episodes, but not many. And for the record the show was always in color, just the pitfully few surviving episodes from that era only survived in black and white.

  • @tallulah1961 And while I agree it dosent manke sense that many of her old friends were absent not all of them were possibly avaliable. But look at it as half full, Linc, Chuck, and Kelly all came back. Kelly was the only person who returned for Myrtles funeral. You know its not always possible to get every last person Pheobe had a covnersation with to return for these things. Even real life funerals, sometimes have notable people from that persons life absent.

  • @mattfrye1- The only reason Francesca James always comes to these is because she remained affiliated with AMC as a writer and producer. Otherwise, she would have been as forgotten as the others. No disrespect intended, Matt, just stating a fact. The powers-that-be on AMC now DO NOT much care about it's rich history, or the fans who remember it and loved it.

  • @turquoiseeyes13579 While that may be true, the fact remains Kelly was in attendance at Pheobes funeral, as was Linc and Chuck and Benny. So this was a far better funeral than most soap funerals.

  • @tallulah1961- Seriously. I never like when AMC rewrites history, which they do all the time now. Donna and Phoebe were actually good friends for awhile- Donna and Benny's wedding was at the Wallington Mansion years ago, though obviously no one who put these clips together cares. Hillary is Donna's sister-in-law and Tad's ex-wife...how great would it have been to have her back and start a new storyline out of it? I have no doubt Carol Burnett would have come on the show for something like this.

  • Are there any of the entire memorial service I missed it when it origianlly aired

  • Someone got assigned the job of watching Ruth Warrick clips to pick the best for this show. That's a job I'd do without pay.

  • It makes absolutely no sense that Candice Earley didn't come back with Richard Van Vleet. Donna was a big part of Phoebe's life and would never refuse to go to her funeral. Did anyone notice Chuck wasn't even wearing a wedding band? Strange. "AMC" writers do not honor their history. They didn't even dedicate this episode entirely to Phoebe's funeral- it was spliced in with other storylines that day. Pitiful.

  • @lizlawton Well there was a flashback of Donna and mild refrences to her in this episode. The actress who played Donna was probaly not avaliable, but I agree if it was possible she should have returned.
