Loved this song from the first time I heard it. The full range of emotions the singer goes through in this song! He must have been a wreck at the end of it with the energy required to perform this song! No wonder Barry Ryan was a one hit wonder- can you imagine trying to follow up this song- the standard he set here was much too hard to follow. In my mind, this song is No1 of all time. what an outstanding song this was (still is 43 years later) I also liked the Damned's version. (from the mid 80's) Its a great pity that his brother Paul (the writer of this) died at such an early age (from cancer) Still his memory will live on everytime its played (be it on the radio etc) Or that the follow up records failed to make the Top 20 (songs like Magical Speil was one of them)
