  • Yikes! Another memory from my childhood. YouTube is supreme.

(Uh-uh, I'm not telling my age, LOLOLOLOL).

  • Originally seen in the U.S. on CBS, Saturday nights at 7:30pm(et) [for Sylvania], just before "THE JACKIE GLEASON SHOW".

  • Anyonhe here remember that wonderful shot of Shaw at the beginning of the theater film, Swashbuckler, standing in the ship's rigging in that yummy red outfit with the Errol Flynn shirt...or maybe we should call it the Robert Shaw shirt? :-)

  • Spotless Shaw, unscarred by a life of hard work.

  • @McGrenzer A little too spotless to be realistic?

  • Where can I get this show on D.V.D. ?

  • @jnproctor It is available on dvd. Do a google search and you should find several sites that sell it.

  • I'd like to know if this t.v. show is on d.v.d. I'd love to get it. Can someone tell me where I could find it?

  • @FrankLJ Sorry, but I have no way of getting that one.

  • You and I too..Robert Shaw was a great actor, and this was his start.

I loved his piratical adventures, no wonder I became a pirate DJ on board Radio Caroline's ship.

Yes, re-runs would probably be a big success...but..we are biased.

Hugs..and good to hear from you:-)

  • So what do you think of the new movie "Pirate Radio"?

    Hugs back to you :)

  • Ooops!! MY old boss, Ronan O'Rahilly, who started Radio Caroline is on record as saying it was not a true representation.

To be fair, its a comedy, so, it does not represent our lives at sea.

I have not seen it, but many of my Facebook friends love it:-)

  • I have not seen it either but now I am intrigued after talking to you. I guess most movies stretch the truth a bit, don't they. I do envy the whole "life at sea" thing though. I guess I am a pirate at heart :)

  • Come to my Facebook, LoreneFaith, and meet the folks who made it happen. We share photos of the Ships!?..yes, there was more than one, and we still act like a bunch of egits, and after 50 years, we ought to know better.

Once a pirate, always a pirate...but, we are still active, so, for the craic, check me out...and meet some of the pirates (some!!??, you'll meet loads of 'em) who still pioneer radio FREE of governemnt control.

  • We are all pirates at heart, but only a few can progress.

If you live in Europe, and you fancy being a pirate on the airwaves, I can help:-)

Check me out at 'Don Stevens. Facebook' and, once you have viewed my pages, feel free to live thar dream, if that is what you want..

That is why I suggest you check it out first, though I'm well known to many, I'm not known to YOU.

    Live Long And Prosper, Amigo:-)

  • I will check out the Facebook page Matey! Alas, I am a Yankee living near the Pacific. I would love to travel the seas and visit the ports of call of Europe. Still waiting for my ship to come in on that one.

  • It's Thanksgiving, everything is possible. most of my FB friends live in California and they are entranced by 'pirate radio' too.

It must be the ghost of Sir Francis Drake who harried the Spaniards along the coast from San Diego to San Francisco.

  • I am a native Californian too :) It could also be that pioneer spirit that lead many of our ancestors to cross rugged terrain and many dangers to head West, to the new frontier, like my GGGrandfather did in the 1840's.

  • LoreneFaith..we are all pirates....but pirates at sea are with honour, and that is why they are romantic and glprious...they have honour.

    The 'Pirate' code.

  • I wish the Somalia pirates would have some honor, especially with the middle-aged British couple and other civilians. I hope they will just decide to release them before Christmas.

  • sadly, that will not happen. The British Government will NOT deal with terrorists. The couple concerned were WARNED by their own family and children to avoid the area.

They were seized while SLEEPING as they navigated that dangerous sea..

I am, very sadly, not optimistic for their chances...unless the British Government relent and deal with the pirates.

  • That is sad, but I do understand that Britain cannot negotiate with terrorists. It is unfortunate that this couple did not heed the warnings.

  • Superb clip..Thank you for sharing the intro and outro:-)

    Posting it on my FB.

  • Thank you. Glad you enjoy it. Wish they had some reruns of this on television, don't you?
