How to record (and edit) a Gameplay Video with Camtasia Studio 7

@ironauramaster1700 Fraps is also a screenrecorder indeed and was especially designed for recording games. Simply go to PixelProspector. com and then click on Indie Resources on the top. There you will find lots of info about screenrecorders and video editors under the "Video Recording & Editing" section.

@cardmagic1990 You can easily remove these zooms from within the editor: In the timeline you see a blue "zoom level keyframe". Click on that thing and press "del" on your keyboard to remove it. That's it. Now the zoom is gone :)

Hmm, i dont know why but when i (4 example) record spore, it goes al blinky, as in, my cursur appears and dissapears, certain things go weird, and spore wont go full screen when im recording, plus in the "preview" thing it goes even weirder.

Any help :)?

Hello, everytime i try to play my game dead island its a fullscreen game well it can be and i do. But the point is why does it not show up the screen after i stop recording? any tips or do you know why? Thank you

@xxelmoxx990 There is probably a red little recording dot in the bottom right corner of your desktop screen (in the area where date and time is shown)... Click on it to open the recording window and then click the stop button. This will start the editor where you can trim your video etc.

@xMeikoChizuru One way would be to record a game in smaller resolution. Another solution would be to use another program like Camtasia, HyperCam3, Fraps or PlayClaw.

@xXAmonicXx I think so... 1.) create a recording window that has the size of the game that you want to record (For example 640x480,800x600 etc.. the lower the resolution the smoother the recording will be usually) 2.) then place it in the upper left of your screen. 3.) click record 4.) start game. (This method works for Camtasia... I assume it also works for Camstudio... If not try Camtasia. The free trial version works for 30 days without any restrictions)

If I want to record games that are not in window mode and I wish to record the full screen. If I just didn't understand your post, please explain it to me.

@xXAmonicXx You can also set the recording area to fullscreen (eg 1920x1080) and then start the game. But in this case it can happen that your recorded video is 1920x1080 but the actual gameplay video is only 640x480 and sits in the upper left corner... the rest of the screen is black. You can get rid of that by cropping the video afterwards... or you can only record that portion of the screen so you don't have to crop the video afterwards.

@Awanis69 this might have something to do with windows 7 (i think the "what you hear" option is no longer available)... you can try solve it by open the recorder and then click on "tools->options". now use .camrec instead of .avi and select windows sound....

@Minemacia i don't know why... but maybe you can record in windowed mode... otherwise try fraps, playclaw or hypercam3...

@TheKillamike48 some games can be played in fullscreen but will only be recorded in their original resolution (for example 320x240 or 640x480).... if you record in windowed mode you will record the exact resolution that you see on the screen. however you can still crop the video afterwards ("zoom & pan" in camtasia) and then save it in.. let's say 1024x768.

@Tyron15able depends on what harware you have... i kept everything in camtasia default exept raised the frame rate to 60FPS and i record with WOW settings on ultra. then again i have a computer that can handle it.

@grimslider i don't know why you can't record it in fullscreen but if it works in windowed mode consider to do just that and then test out which resolution you can use while still having a smooth and lag free recording. (alertantively try out fraps and playclaw... these programs were created to record 3d games)

hey bro, my pc is fast and everything. The specs are good with a quadcore and that, however when start playing counterstricke while recording it doesnt record the game at all. Just shows what the game looks like when opened. Any advice???

Reduce Resolution (e.g. 640×480 instead of 1024×768)

Switch to 16-bit instead of 32-bit Color Depth //

Choose the right Codec (less compression = faster recording speed)

Upgrade PC (faster CPU, more RAM, better graphics card)

@asotproductions this happens sometimes when you play a game in fullscreen... to get rid off the black borders just select "zoom n pan" (the magnifying glass) and choose a smaller area. :)

Look, i have a problem...I can't record a gameplay with a bigger game (Dirt 2)

I click Record, then i go the the game and then i click Stop...But, after stoping the recording, i look at the video and when i go into the game, it's all black, it doesn't record the game... :(
