I live in Sheffield, was fortunate enough to be unaffected by the flooding, but I can see the devastation around me. A lot of the homes that were flooded were built in the last 5/10/15 years, and far too close to the rivers! The government should outlaw house building on flood plains, and build flood defences that work!

I hear that, I left town center after the lady bridge was submerged had to mission through waist high waters along part of the wicker then got home to brightside where I live to find even more carnage than town center...just got power back on today ^_^ happy days. KNEW SOME THIS EVENT IN SHEFFIELD would turn up on here asap!!! my sister was a few buildings away from tht helicopter. and didnt get back for 7hrs since she finished work. there was water flowing like rivers near her building. Irwin Michels (hoe ever it's spelt) wasnt in a good state either.

i was out in that for 10 hours trying to stop peoples houses flooding, 2 out of around 6 in the lowest part of the street got around 1 foot of water in them lol. my mate got a tractor from somewhere with a water pump tanker to help.
