back pressure is the resistance to positive flow. i'm pretty darn sure that resistance is exactly something you don't want in an exhaust system. wouldn't you agree?

because most engines designed to day are built with a certain amount of back pressure needed for them to run correctly ,back pressure helps produce more horse power in smaller engines by holding back exhaust,and it helps them to build rpm's

sorry but this is false. the theory of backpressure being good is only a myth in cars. like 20Luder00 said "backpressure is resistance to positive flow" that is completely correct. what you need is to maintain the exhaust gas velocity. if you have a wider pipe it eliminates more backpressure because of the exhaust pulses in a 4cyl. however the more backpressure you release the lower the velocity of the gasses will be NOT because of the backpressure but because of the pipe itself.
