how much did he weigh then? we have two, one is 7 and the other 1. we got the older one when he was a year, and the younger one when he was a puppy. but he was way smaller than that at 6 months. but we think he might be the runt of the litter. our other one is small for a saint too.

I used to have a Saint Bernard, she was a dry-mouth so she never drooled, not even when she drank water. But you can not let them in hot weather. It will give them a heat stroke. That is what killed mine. **tears up**

Not as much as you may think. I feed them mainly on a raw diet which works out incredibly cheap for their size. Much better for them too!

they are capable of it, but they don't like it and you have to keep them in air conditioning. my parents had two saint bernards when they lived in alaska and then they moved to georgia they saints never had their full winter coats again and they were hot all the time. as a kid i was covered in drool because they were so hot. they LOVE cold.

Saints are very well behaved. The drawbacks are as follows.. Drooling - you must be aware of that already, so I wont get into it. Shedding nonstop. They shed every single day, not seasonal like other dogs. They do get a thicker and thinner coat for the seasons, but the shedding is everyday.. Mounds of hair like tumble weeds will be in your house. And the last drawback is the dander.... There ill be plenty of dander on all surfaces in your place. Even vertical services.

They are very well behaved. 2 major drawbacks with Saints are of course Drooling which im sure you already know.. But whats worse than the drooling (trust me, its worse) is the non stop shedding and the dander. Saints shed every single day. Your house must be vaccumed everyday. And the dander is like a moist dust that gets on all surfaces, even vertical services. Dusting in your house will have to be done once a week, on all surfaces because the dander is ridiculous.
