@machetemonkey seeing as how the exact same harmonies are played in the arpeggio at 1:24, this time with the "#11" (B) fretted on the G-string, the intent seems pretty obvious.
Not to break your spirits, but that's pretty much just a standard F# Major chord, except for the top two strings, which are probably only played incidentally. But that's the basic finger position for major chords when played in Drop-D.
@RockYourInnerSenses Fair enough, but in all honesty I don't think that harmony was intentional. While I can't prove it was unintentional, I'm guessing the guitarist was just intending an F Major and ended up strumming all the strings without really thinking. Sloppy guitar playing is far more common in rock music than weird harmonies like that. xP
@machetemonkey Then again, they do have a lot of chamber-music influences, and there are plenty of other weird chords in this song, so who knows. that's just my guess, though.
@machetemonkey I'd imagine it was intentional considering the fact that it's a studio recording and such a mistake could be corrected in another take.
@darklyt750 Yeah you could get the Fender which looks like a realy guitar but in stead of strings, it has buttons for every fret 1,2,3,4,5,6 etc. all the way to 17. The squier has strings, you could also plug in into an amp and play the game like that. You could also get a midi adapter and plug it into your computer to "compose your own tunes." Its pretty cool but expensive, i spen $150 on the fender. Its a good investment for learning. Hope I helped :)
Actually the Spotify version of this song is censored exactly same way, so it is possible that was the version that was given to Harmonix.

@machetemonkey Uhh I know what the standard chord shape is... but the use of the B&E as a 7th and 13th in the harmony isn't common in rock music.

@RockYourInnerSenses Isn't *as* common.
