  • I did not look very intimidating at first, but after the subsequent reign of destruction, if we added sensors and made it self aware, it would be unstoppable. Haha. Good build, seriously! :)

  • how do you make the stabber? and can you make one with a powerfunctions xl motor?

  • i love this video i`ll make this also

  • How do you control the brain box with power functions?

  • @MathewAlden: Google "Power Functions Remote Control Sensor" to see the method that this project uses to control the NXT from the PF remote (Method 1)

  • @nxtprograms Will the short circuit kill your mindstorm or just make it think the sensors are going off?

  • @MathewAlden: It stresses the electronics, which have circuitry to protect them, but eventually it may reach a breaking point, so I wouldn't try it.

  • @nxtprograms you're right

  • plz upload a instruktion!!!! :) this thing is AwEsOmE!!!

  • 2:26 Mos Esley Gets destroyed

  • wen hy drives can hy attack to?

  • Wait. So a power functions controller can control a Mindstorm?

  • Wait. So a power functions controller can control a Mindstorm?

  • thats awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • awesome!!

  • that is insane

  • let me guess... changing frequencies changes what you're controlling (one frequency for moving and another to attack.)

  • can you make insructions for the chassis, or just take some pictures without the treads, nxt-cpu... you know?

  • i have made some instructions for your tank myself, my video will come out today

  • 2 xl motors are connected by a ir receiver that you can control with your ir remote control. the saw and the stabler (with a adapter wire) are connected by another ir receiver that you can control with your ir remote control. both the ir receivers ar connected on a battery box. i have now done the same thing. but, where must i connected the other adapter wire? to one ir receiver? and for what purpose is the ultrasonic sensor? can it go in automatic mode? can someone explain me this?

  • The saw is just another PF motor on the blue lever of the 2nd channel (2nd receiver). The stabber is controlled by the red lever on the 2nd channel/receiver, by using an adapter wire to the NXT port 1, it looks like a touch sensor when you press the red lever, then a program on the NXT controlls the stabber when it sees a touch sensor press.

  • doude plz make this with 2.0!

  • If u ever update it I reccomend being able to raise and lower the dart shooter, amazing job btw

  • But wait dosen't the Power functions remote just control the movement?

  • Through a little trick it also acts as a sensor to the NXT and so controls the weapons as well, with help from a program running on the NXT. Basically if you plug a PF IR receiver output into an NXT via adapter wire, it can look like a touch sensor.

  • ???

  • how do you remote control nxt?

  • He used the lego power functions remote.

  • Military needs that

  • noooo not R2D2

  • you are a pro builder

  • so is every thing controlled by the pf remote

  • this is the best lego tank i have seen

  • Really really sweet.

  • EVEN THE CATS SHOWS RESPECT hilarious kkkkk hsauhsuahs poakspoasoaskapksapskaposk

  • awsome man

  • If you havn't taken it apart yet, I'd like to by it. How much?

  • you should put the machine gun on nxtprograms on top of this ABSOLUTE PWNAGE

  • 2:02 karate stab!

  • hownmeny resivers do you nead

  • This design uses two PF IR receivers.

  • LOL my cat gets so scared of my line follower when i put it on the lines between the tile on my floor

  • Lately when i have been trying to make something like a car with bluetooth it will go like stop go stop go stop go when i try to fix it it goes on forever but when i press a dif button it goes in that direction forever i made it the same way you did but it seems when i try it with bluetooth it stops and goes very annoying :(.

  • stab the cat, lol 5/5

  • that is really cool

im also trying to build a battle tank

  • SO COOL SELL IT

  • alright! now we can act like ganon! DIE DIE DIE!!! YOU MUST DIE!!! *sorry ants but YOU MUST DIE!!! BWHAHAHAHAH SAW HHEHEHEHEHE CUT CUT!!!! HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAhahahahaha.....O_o get a little overwhelmed

  • poor R2-D2

  • Hey... im a HUGE fan of ur web site can u please send me instructions just 4 the dart thrower thing? THX!

  • can you show me the program please reply

  • The NXT program by itself wouldn't make much sense... If I ever put together instructions for this project, it would all be in there.

  • please make instructions. i'm BEGGING you. if u are going to make instructions u best get it over with

  • does the remote come with the MS pack?

  • No, that is the LEGO Power Functions IR remote and receiver.

  • power functopms is a seprate pack/thing? (sorry for bad english)

  • if you still have this built, you should make a pneumatic lift system for the front to angle it up! like use an air pump, but i hear those strain the motors.

  • how the heck did u build that... that is wicked awsome

  • THOSE POOR BRAVE MEN

  • thats pretty cool

     Good Job ^O^

  • nice i am saving up for the NXT 2.0

  • u have to make instructions please replay

  • can you show me how to do it please reply

  • Wow thats cool !!!

  • could u tell me the program u used oon the nxt

  • what program did u put on the nxt

  • Something I wrote myself which sees the IR receiver as a touch sensor and uses that to trigger the stabber and dart gun.

  • how do you control it if you have a nxt pleas reply

  • This project required both the nxt (on the vehicle) and the power functions remote to control it.

  • awesome make instructions plase

  • wow this is a very nice robot

  • why do you need 2 IR recefers?

  • One of these receivers can only control 2 motors.

  • lkjsadk;ljgbas;dhgl;kawjelkjtl;akwjt

that is how awsome that is!!!

  • plz plz plz make instructions for it!! or just for the gun!!! nxtprograms ROCKS!!!!!

  • WOW!!! This is Great!

  • lol the empires new weapon to stope jedi

  • dont do somethin to cat you satanist but the bulldozer was amazin

  • LOL.

At around 2:25, when he showed us the saw, R2 still lived! As always.

    Very impressive, though.

  • Incredible! That is the coolest thing I have ever seen! Good job!

  • WOW! this is a very cool creation dude!

  • black cats give you bad luck

  • funny even the cat respects it

  • You could call it a waste, I call it talent. Jealous?

  • How much was the bulldozer kit (8275)?

  • love the scissor stabber!!! great creation, too!!

  • I like 2:04 VERY GOOD AND FUNNY!! and 2:20

  • I love it so much! my brother owns a LEGO NXT but i want a second one so we can make a remote control, also this awesome tank! uh, without PF.

  • Sorry, no building instructions posted for this one, at least not yet.

  • will you show me how to make the blade that spins in the back that is awsome put some pneumatic pumps and cilinders in there it will be even more cooler

  • Im thinking on buying a lego mindstorms nxt kit, and im thinking making something remote!

What should i buy, and where?(closest norway)

  • Unfortunately it's a little tricky. This trick using the Power Functions remote I explain on the blog mentioned in my response above. There is also Bluetooth from a phone, but that requires special software depending on your phone, etc. See my "Forklift" project for a way to control remotely from your PC via Bluetooth.

  • Awsome!! i like it a lot.

I have a question: How do you make your remote work on motors and weapon?

  • There is a trick, hard to explain. I blogged about it on thenxtstep as "PF IR Receiver as NXT Touch Sensor" but I can't link to that in here, so try searching for it.

  • Comment removed

  • now that is a work of art!

  • The cat stabber XD.

  • That is the "Power Functions" remote control from LEGO. Not normally used to control NXT things but normally used to control LEGO Power Functions motors.

  • oh ok thank you is it hard to make it control a creation

  • It's very easy to control PF motors with the PF remote (here the two drive motors). It's a trick to get it to control the NXT (here two of the weapons). You need some extra parts and a little programming trick.

  • Hey were did you get that remote or did you make please respond

  • Aww...you could have taken out the cat with the scissor stabber! Great job any way...bet it was loads of fun building!

  • Cool robot, Would you like to enter this robot to our Challene?

  • best mindstorms creation 5/5

when you first shot the dart in the begining of the video, it came back and hit you =P it was SOO FUNNY when you were sawin the lego people.then you didnt hit them all so you just ran them over lol...=P

  • question, can you turn on a radio with the sisser stabber thing?

  • Possible, if your aim is good enough, but it would be hard. It is hard to aim because the scissor doesn't come out straight, it makes a strange arc as it unfolds.

  • whats 3:10?

  • 3 min 10 sec into the video (see progress bar/controller on the bottom of the video as it plays).

  • By far the coolest mindstorms EVER!

  • how did you make the dart shooter?!?!?

  • The dart shooter is a small crossbow powered by a rubber band and released by the NXT motor. See 3:10.

  • cool

  • Cool

  • LOLCAT.

    Niceeee. :D

  • do you have instuctions for this on your web site?

  • Sorry, no building instructions (too big).

  • Please, this is truly my favorite build that you have done

  • thats awsome

  • great job

  • That is by far one of the coolest things you have made

  • No not the cat !!!

  • i am so jealous...

i have those conveyor belts (not many!)

but still... when i grow up i will buy these sets.

    ...

nah i will start saving money.

    CONVEYOR BELTS!

  • This is AMAZING!
