I heard "Waiting for Dawn" for the first time at a music variety show by college students at Loyola University - Chicago, and I loved it. I can't play the guitar (I tried picking it up on three or four separate occasions), but I liked it so much that I ended up ordering the guitar sheet music and playing it on piano. = )

How did I master this in a week? It's easy when you have all the time in your hands! I actually spent about 5 hours playing this every day for 6 days!!

Day 1, practiced until I could read the first page of the music fluently, figuring out notes/ positions etc.

Day 2, I practiced until I was fluent with page two.

Day 3, adding expressive elements like crescendo, rubato, and dynamics.

Day 4, practiced like crazy!

Day 5 & 6, tried memorizing it!

I'm actually studying this piece too, but I'm doing it on a steel string guitar with a flat pick. If you think that a flat pick will limit your abilities then do a search for Robert Bowlin, On The Border.

I would make you two comments, on the 16th bar you make too many changes of finger positions, there is a way to make less movements and keep the continuity of the phrase. The other comment is about the part with the harmonics, the chord B-G is played an octave higher (B on 12th fret of the 2nd string, G on the 15th fret of the 1st string).

Now let me tell you: Your phrasing is clear and crisp, also you have that fat tone that only short nails could give, GOOD. But... ARTICULATION and memory lapses are the points you should focus, try always playing with the score in front of you when you´re learning new pieces, anyway you´re good & you could be great with patience. Sorry if i´m so straight to the point it´s just sincerity.

Thank you for your comment! I'm so sorry that I didn't respond to your message right away! I have 2 guitars but the one I used for this piece is a Asturias custom made 630mm guitar. This one is easy to play because my hands are small, but doesn't bring out the high tones. The other one I own is a Ramirez 650mm guitar and it has great tone but it's hard to play.

I dunno what program u could use for the Video Quality ( it seems fine to me though)

About the Sound Quality, it depends on your mic or the program ur using, I use Audacity, its pretty cool and it is freeware

Omg! I haven't responded! Sorry...

My advice is to arrange 2 separate device to record audio and video streams. I am using Microsoft webcam and i've elecro-acoustic guitar so i just plug it in to my PC. If you've a classical guitar the only advice is too buy instrumental (usually condenser) microphone for some 20-60$

I am using Sony Vegas to edit both audio and video...
