Nope, she's from England and now lives in Canada. I guess because she emigrated while still a teenager, her accent has started to mutate, so, yes, she does sound a bit New Zealand at times.

I think it's what some people call a 'transatlantic' accent. Mick Jagger had a very annoying transatlantic accent at one time.

it's very practical to have your country centered on your map when you have an empire that extends to the west and to the east (relative to YOUR part of the world), that's also how we got to name the middle east, orient, etc.

but that does not make a map "normal" (or abnormal), you're just used to the euro-centered one

but it's never too late to change one's perception of the world imo
