  • O.S.T.R Jazz

  • sehr schoene Nummer!

  • The groups music has changed my life! Metheny and the group amaze me time and time again with music genius! I have had this album in my car playing for two weeks never get tired of it!

  • I know Pat Metheny since 1983. Saw him several times. And its really hard to say, which song is his best... The most songs are amazing. So many of his songs remind me on different times of my life and they will accompany till my end.

  • greatest peice of music "EVER" Pure genius Period!

  • Yeah,cold classic mellow FUNK

  • Just damn good music.I always like him.

  • The jam and I wonder why do people listen to wack music and wonder why their personal lives are all screwed up ? Maybe they might wake up one day.

  • This song is sooo sexy and smooth!! Damn pat can do no wrong, no matter what genre he brings to the table...do not fuck with him cuz you will lose!! Absolute beauty here!!

  • 06:34, music

  • kymo35 this is the best way for the new year 2012 to come in .the best is yet to come bless every onethis soooooooo good.

  • l'époque accro à PMG où, en overdose permanente, je prenais cet album en intraveineuse... risque de rechute....

  • i can see myself talking to GOD, and this is playing. this is so beautiful.

  • My mother and I attended one of his concerts and I cried when I heard this, it was so beautiful!!!

  • @yoshluv7 Wow and just think if people who are all exposed to all this crazy stuff via the media could be exposed to this type of sound on a regular. How the whole vibe would change overall. That is the power of real music..

  • @yoshluv7 wow you were feeling the 3rd eye vibe for sure.

  • It's good to hear this again by Pat Metheny its been a while.

  • I've got this piece engraved in my brain for when I'm stressed....just take a couple of breaths, let the guitar fiddle with my neurons and......nice.

  • Guitar plays as Brian Hughes

  • i wish i could just walk into a record store and find this amazing album again. i've bought it probably 5 times, lent it out 3, lost it twice, and never burned it ever... and i really miss the girls next door....

    thanks pat- cg

  • @sirgum123

Try borrowing a copy from your local library. They either own a copy or can get one from another library for you to borrow and burn.

  • some of my least favorite PMG music. sorry, but it veers to closely to smoooooooth jazz for me. i give it another chance every few years but it never resonates like so much of his other stuff, though his guitar hear is as inventive as ever...

  • Standards setting tune, no doubt, extremely listenable. Pat bridges the gaps between Jazz, Classical & World styles so seamless, tons of great improvisations.

    Crank it up !!

  • M A G N I F I C O P A T . . .

  • This is one of all-time favorite Pat metheny Group songs. I can listen to it again and again and never get bored or want to here another song. Pat Metheny is a genius!

  • WE LIVE HERE NWO.....YOU CAN'T GET RID OF US !!!

  • aahhh... too bad, it got cut off toward the very end.

  • love it.......

  • Height of creativity.

  • Reaches parts other tunes simply cant reach lol

  • How can anybody go wrong with this???? Just pour yourself a drink.....get out on your deck or sit down in your family room with your woman......and just let the music talk to you. Enuff said!!!!

  • Contrabass + GrooveMachine= SWING

  • I love Pat Metheny. He's awesome!

  • Got to be in my top 5 all time tunes. Thought hard and long about it but this really has to to be in there as it simply has that je nais ces quoi. That something special. Its sheer poetry in motion. Rodby steals the show.

  • Very highly acclaimed. Really is THE track from PMG. Rodby is all over this and he, Lyle and PM did something beyond human comprehension when they created and played on this.

  • Music for the soul

  • this music inspires my architectural imagination; I work great with PMG.

  • when I'm doing architectural designs, this is what I listen to!!!

  • each note....every single note speeds me to thrill

    no more word for pmg

  • @tmarko06 -its dramatically fresh and grips me on on each and every listen and sometimes I will play this ALOT in a day

  • Pat is god's gift to music and music is God's gift to us.

  • Some of Pat's music is like Burt Bacharach on jazz...think about it

  • ME AND MY EX USED TO LISTEN TO THIS EVERY MORNING!! I CAN'T LISTEN TO IT WITHOUT THINKING OF HIM!!! WONDERFULLY COMPOSED!!!

  • a great combination between lyle and pat

  • Ever have an " EARgasm " ...That`s what I had listening to this song, stopped doing what i was doing and just let it >>>>FLOW.

  • This is definitely one of Pat Metheny's

better works of art. He's so masterful and has

such creative talents that it beyond words.

  • this is my life story on wax......

  • I can play it over and over and over and over and over....

  • @sma421 ...and over and over and over ...lol

  • This is a MASTERPIECE....Beautifully done, this song transports me into such a lovely state of mind. Thanks Pat - Peace.

  • fantastic, beautiful solo of Lyle!!!!!

  • A MASTERPIECE

  • The best ... this song helped me up at a very sad time in our lives ... victim to survivor bless up one love

  • so sad... this song had to end! wish it could play on 4ever...

  • 2 people are tone deaf.

  • 1 person is deaf. xD

  • @Jasbrou Now there's two deaf people!

  • LOVE IT! Very Artistic

  • The background orchestration reminds me of Stewart Copeland for some reason...

  • . . . I could listen this a million times & never tier of it. It is one of the most moving pieces I have ever heard, Ghostly & Groovy!!! I with 79miles, play this at my funeral.

  • THIS SONG IS BEAUTIFUL

  • Love this song.....this entire CD actually!

  • I don't like it...

For me too big role have piano & drums...

  • I've said it for three decades plus... Each individual assembled at any time within "Pat Metheny Group" is just that, an individual and worthy of endless merit based on his individuality and shared contribution, the net result. And I cannot say enough about Metheny. However..... For myself it's equally always been about Lyle Mays. Cannot say enough about him. Simply unreal.

The percussionist on this piece, Armando Marcal did so much, too.

Perfect song. One of PMG absolute beyond bests, period.

  • @equinoxranch I'm with you. Mr. Mays brings soooo much to this album. This music has healed my soul more than any other. I don't think I could give a better compliment.

  • This isn't a song; it's an obsession...

  • So universal, everybody, who has some kind of ear for superb music, digs him! Thanks for sharing this wonderful tune with the rest of us.

  • From now, I will love saying "I want to see a end of the world". I used to hate that saying.

  • when this first came out, I played it repeatedly. I never get tired of it. Never get tired of PGM

  • i will have pat playing at my funeral...this selection in particular...i love the sensuality and how he takes you on this etheral journey... its like i am flying...and how he brings you right back to center...his music flows thru me and i am immersed in this feeling of floating...and i love how lyle compliments every sutle nuance...truely the greatest...i am a fan for life...thanks pmg

  • got this album it's pure class

  • A smooth jazz masterpiece

  • I wonder, who was the one person who did not like this Song?

  • All I can say is Damn...I love Pat Metheny

  • wow..what an excellent expression, BifMcAwesome!

  • To me this song can be compared to a musical expression of what Solomon wrote in Ecclesiestes. Solomon catologued the many things he pursued in his life and spoke of the things that seem to bring happiness as well as sadness. But all of it under the sun is vanity . We all must perservere throughout our lives, to the end of the world. This tune is marinated in melancholy.

  • one of the best songs ive ever heard of in my life....this song is amazing! I remember when I first heard it..I was mesmerized...One world for this song - BRILLIANT!!!

  • @Stevedonna968 Agreed!!

  • @Stevedonna968 this is music not song babe

and yea that rely good tho

  • A good antidote to Ryuchi Sakamoto

  • I certainly can't express the sentiments anymore eloquently than what you all have already! It is truly a beautiful song! Isn't our Creator so wonderful, to give us the ability to comprehend and orchestrate such masterpieces! I appreciate the posting of this song!

  • If I had to listen to ONE song at the end of the world, it would be "To The End of the World". This is the music that makes one know that there is a God, a Higher Power, or however you choose to look at it. This song makes your ears orgasm! Yea, its that good!

  • I love Pat Metheny!!! I have a dvd of him and the crew performing this tune live and let me just say that Metheny truly makes love to his guitar with a fine and detailed finess. The intensity of this song is amazing. There's a buildup, a climax, a turning point, an explosion of love and a cool down segment to sooth (i suppose). So in simpler words this song is pure magic. I feel oh so sexy when I hear it... and jazzy...and sensual... and graceful in my motions. I could go on and on and...

  • Greatest masterpiece ever written and performed. Pure genius! I just can't get enough of it.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH' WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT I USE TO BE AT WORK LISTENING TO THE JAZZ STATION WJZZ. WHEN THIS SONG CAME ON I STOP WORKIN......UNTIL IT WENT OFF THE RADIO' AND THAT WENT ON EVERYDAY BEFORE MY LUNCH HOUR' WOW WHAT A GOOD 10MIN'S TO RELAX TO' AND I STILL PLAY THIS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A CLASSIC'''

  • @BUTTACREAMLUV96 I miss WJZZ with Rosetta Hynes. You gotta be from the Dee to know what we talkin' about.

  • this is actually a 12 min. song. but no matter it still good.

  • I get lost in thought when I listen to this. Just awesome.

  • BEST PART FROM 3:08 on.

  • @73dodge -its always Lyle. ALWAYS

  • This is good at the end of the day !!

  • Keys this is nice...nice and mellow...yet bouncy. I could drive of this one.

  • I was listening to this song while driving alone from Santa Cruz to San Francisco in a sunny day on PCH in the summer of '97...

  • jeter 88, please don't use pat metheny and kenny g in the same sentence. there is no comparison.

  • @oldprogrocker Couldn't agree with you more!

  • still just so overwheming

this makes me me remember every happy moment in my life

and at the same time every sad point

  • Simply hypnotic, beautiful, just reading comments I feel that most of you have this one covered.

  • I am trying to eventually collect all of Pat's albums. Awesome dude - he is "God", retrospectively speaking. We Live Here is definitely one of his best albums, along with Imaginary day. The stuff he does with others is also very good, like the Metheny Mehldau album - he is an extremely accomplished musician. He is the modern Mozart of Jazz music by far. I love listening to 'To The End of The World' and 'The Girls Next Door' on my mp3 player whilst cycling around town - a really great groove.

  • This song is awesome...in my opinion better than most of what Kenny G put out.

  • Love love love this one since it first came out!

  • ecellent!

  • very emotional one!!!

  • listened to this track possibly a thousand times at least hundreds over the years

    since it came out

to me it's the entire story of love between two people

the excitement the melancholy the ups the downs the longing

the in betweens and the never endings even when it sometimes has

just recently too ive been struck but how pm lays out so long

letting lm make his statement and then coming back in himself

    to complete the communication

then the denouement (sp) ... to the end of the world

  • This song was recorded in the studio during a thunderstorm - hence the title, and they recorded the thunder for the break in the middle. Epic stuff.

  • SIMPLY AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! THaT PAt. Gotta Love Him

  • Genius, unrecogized, Be wise- adore this man.

  • yes this is a soft summer breeze across your face on your patio, on a boating nite cruise......just enjoy

  • Thanks for the upload. I loved this group in the 80's. This and many other of their jams are blowing up!

  • The most passionale song ever written

  • Has anybody ever made love to this piece. Baby its awesome and it really takes you there if you let it

  • One of my favorite PMG tunes

  • This song lifts me up and takes me to a beautiful place EVERYTIME I listen to it! It will never grow old in my heart!

  • First time I heard it when I was...omg can't remember...(3?!) and still love this song!

  • Ah. Real Music.

  • For over 15 years, I have used this album as my lifes soundtrack. I have tried to listen to other things but I just feel this.

  • I love this album so much, does anyone know the name to song # 6 ? Please feel free to let me know, thanks. :o)

  • Episode D` azur is song Nr.6 :)

  • My favorite Pat Metheny song. The song creates an intricate and beautiful musical landscape.

  • So very true ! :o)

  • The depth..., the emotion..., the beauty.... Play this at my funeral! This song, to me, is the most beautiful composition ever written. A treasure for eternity... to the end of the world... Thanks Pat, Lyle, Steve & Paul!!

  • @79miles Exactly how I feel about this song everytime. Well spoken! :-D

  • @79miles My dear, I couldn't have expressed my gratitude for this song any better! Thank you for your comment! Peace to you!

  • @79miles Yes, my good friend: the depth...,the emotion,...,the beauty.......so, the way this song and beautiful others of Pat Metheny and his fantastic Band touch my heart and my mind. And no words can reach the true meaning of the profound feelings involved in when we listen to them (Thanks God!). It is about the sense of the perfect "Beatitude" and "Eternity". At these moments life really gets full and more bearable. My sincere respect to Pat, Lyle, Steve, Paul and to all their fans worldwide!

  • As far as I know, on this album they used a lot of drum computer, so the rhythm track on this one may come from the machines, which woudn't decrease it's beauty..

  • This song is just plain sick! Flat out rocking from the start until about 3:05 and then, they break it all the way down so Mr. Mays can do what he does so gently, a sick solo. Steve is laying it down real smooth while Lyle tickles the keys and don't forget the drummer keeping it all in time.Just sick music.

  • best song and musicians ever

  • PM is amazing.

  • Ho ascoltato questo solo di Mays milioni e milioni di volte, ma ogni volta è un brivido nuovo...ogni volta è come se fosse la prima...il pezzo che amo di più,a cui sono legatissimo...Grazie PAT!!!!!

  • This...speaks....to my very SOUL!!! This gives me an out of body experience. It makes me SOAR!!!!! I can't explain what this music does to me....but I FEEL it... I actually FEEL it. This has to be one of MY all time favorites, right a long with their, "Are You Going My Way?" I know just what you mean "d0walden" about feeling emotional......it gets into you. Absolutely AWESOME!!!!!!

  • @rocki48188 Wish I could give your comment two thumbs up!

  • @rocki48188 yeah thats wot i was tryin to say too...

  • From 3:08 on, lyle mays kills it! Awesome!

  • This is probably my favorite Mays piano solo, ever.

  • And with how I see these guys play stuff live much differently than the studio versions, I'd say this take was mostly improv...heh

  • Ho avuto il piacere di conoscerlo personalmente e di assistere a 6 dei suoi concerti in giro per gli States.

    Saluti,

    Walter
