  • @thesearewarningsigns Morrissey is a fan, he chose a very obscure Sparks song for his Top 10.

  • i recently saw morrissey, and before he came out, he played a sparks music video. life's ok after all

  • m-m-miss the m-mustash!

  • hey!!! love this!!! wonder what year it was recorded???

  • @Craniumectomy 2008 - and yes, Morrissey is a fan!

  • Elegant, intelligent, still glam...

  • Morrissey is next door neighbors with Ron and Russell! He sends them faxes of handwritten letters instead of calling them on the telephone. . . .

  • Has anyone noticed that Ron Mael's Keyboard says "Ronald" instead of "Roland" but since the typeface is the same it's overlooked. I'm probably the only person stupid enough to comment on this, since it's obvious to everyone but me.

  • @dkomjath It is fairly obvious but it never fails to make me smile - and I doubt there is such a thing as a stupid Sparks fan!

  • @dkomjath I hadn't noticed it, but I enjoy the fact now. Thanks for pointing it out!

  • Russell & Ron are the best & most talented brothers in the music brothers. Their music is definitely timeless. I love them all equally, & have been a Sparks fan since 1973, & love Russell very much. In my eyes Russell is "My Boy", & always will be.

Absolutely Russell & Ron aka Sparks-I salute you !!! xxxxx

  • ВЕЛИКАЯ ГРУППА ВСЮ ЖИЗНЬ СО МНОЙ

  • Hell yes, Sparks are better than ever

  • Love Sparks, love this song... Ron's expression at 0:50 is PRICELESS :)

  • Sparks are the ONLY rock band that keeps getting better. In recent years they've created some of the best rock albums ever:

    Balls (2000)

    Lil' Beethoven (2002)

    Hello Young Lovers (2006)

Exotic Creatures Of The Deep (2008)

Thanks Sparks, you are the true kings of multifarious rock with countless brilliant songs. They are the true successors of The Beatles.

    Ron Russell

Author of "Don Carina" - The Mafia Heroine of WWII

  • Ahahaha! I bet Morrissey loved this! Spectacular song, spectacular band!

  • The Greatest Band of all time

  • Ha ha ha, "Ronald" instead of "Roland" on their keyboards. I used to work for this company (Roland) for many years and it makes me smile to see their sense of humor with this part of my own history ;-)

  • @kalisteboat I can kick myself for NOT noticing that. Hilarious!

  • @Bietel

Try other lives from the Sparks and you will see they often plays with Ronald/Roland brand name.

    Enjoy ;-)

  • The Guitars sound awesome in this recording.......... the Ricky bass tight and loud, The Gibson punchy and sweet, The Stratocaster bright and meaty. Wow who was the guitar tech?

  • I love anything that the sparks do. I love Russell very much. I've loved the sparks since 1975 when I saw them at their autumn tour at the Pace in MAnchester.

    Sara-

  • ah there they are. i thought satire and wit were dead.

  • morrisey is a close freind and neighbor, this is a bit of an in-joke between them

  • back to the original roots of sounds, musically divine, the most underated band ever here in the States

  • SPARKS remain awesome and original and creative. No one like them. True legends of Synth Pop, and anyone who doesn't know what these guys have achieved over the last four decades is simply clueless.

  • Sparks has always been great since This Town Aint Big Enough, but now Sparks is a masterpiece machine the last 5 albums. This song is one of them!

  • weird is a very good quality to have

  • Sparks is God

  • Fag

  • On behalf of every dude who's dated an obsessive Maz fan: thank you Ron

  • I love this, these guys will never stop making music.

  • awesome!

  • Russell looks so tired here.

  • this is genius

  • Comment removed

  • The keyboard's face is still VEEEEEEEEEEEEEERY scary - especially when he smiles near the beginning!!

    Argh!

    Gotta love The Sparks!

And the fact that Moz used this in his intro at his recent gig in Manc on his birthday - epic!!!

  • THe only scary thing is Russellßs hairdo.

But a great band and very nice guys, I met them several times .

  • Not just on his birthday. He used it on all his concert. He loved the sparks, and he is such a piss taker. I bet he jumped for joy when he heard this! :D

  • Morrissey is apparently a big Sparks fan. I think it's funny.

  • Love this band!! I want to see them play three tracks on Later with Jool's.

  • Pure genious.... Long Live Sparks! Been a fan for over 30 years.

  • Great Music. always love sparks !

  • Really my most favourite at the moment! Next weekend I'll be there 2 concerts in a row!!!

  • A George Lamb fan calling someone else a parody?

Anyone else spot the irony here?

  • Heh - but who is george a parody of?

  • A braindead, talentless, thick, witless, cretin?

  • I saw Mott (post Ian Hunter) open for Sparks in '75.

  • Long time Sparks fan here since early 70s so I know this band quite well though its been a while since I've seen recent vids. Looks like Russell is sporting a hair. Still a tremendous talent though.

  • Perhaps he's got himself a really bad haircut underneath? :P He's simply adorable, though. ;D

  • This song is to be on the new AA single next spring! The other will be "I can't believe that you would fall for all the crap in this song" great playing btw

  • Hope there's am official video for either track.

  • Ron , where's your moustache? Luv SPARKS!!!

  • You're right... a case of "She won't go out with me no, since my moustache is pencil thin..."?

  • Doing his best Ferry impression...

  • Ron's Eno impersonation not that good, nor is the Guitarist Manzanera impersonation. :-)

He does really look like Ferry in that suit and haircut though.

  • Agree!

  • Wondrous!!

  • thanks for posting this GREAT VID !!!

  • After over 38 years, it is clear Sparks are still one of the most original artists in the music business. The best part of Sparks' music is that many of the songs are timeless and remain fresh many years after their initial release. I salute you, Ron and Russell!

  • well said
