  • I can tell you, just by watching film, that the kid in the red jersey, #28, has very tight hip flexors and hips and possibly occasional low back pain. this back pain probably shows up during defensive slides or drills where he has to keep his arms overhead.

  • @TheCoachmass Good observation!

  • Even though this is a warm up, I always emphasis good posture and perfect form. For instance, while performing the reverse lunges, every player is doing them differently and most have inadequate balance. The shoulders must be over the hips at all times, core must be engaged, the players must pick up and not slide their feet and they are not allowed to look back. Whenever a player is flexed at the hips, feet should be straight and the back is set.

  • @TheCoachmass Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

  • Is there a girls team???

  • @Bballstunnahhhsss We're an all boy's school.....

  • @TJ3247 Wow, that is awesome to hear! I am happy for your and honored to help. Keep working hard!

  • how do those movements at the beggining help with quickness and reaction?

  • @crazeyskill That's the warm-up!!!

  • @SuperKobe2324 Yes, check Can He Dunk dot com...

  • it seems straight forward but are you just throwing playing cards in the air for them to catch on the one drill? also, on the full court tap drill you do, have you ever introduced a third ball to be passed back and forth across the middle as the players are running to the opposit end? I think it adds a component of awareness to the drill and adds more skill work to an already great drill, just curious. Great videos!

  • @sayrehoops Yes, those are standard playing cards... just "flipped" in the air. Def adds an additional reactive component. No, I have never tried adding a third ball... but plan to next time I do it. GREAT idea! I am def "stealing" that one :) Thanks.

  • @dudewat212 not anymore quinn cook -------->> OAK HILL Academy he left .

  • @SupaPhenom23 Yep, he sure did. I hate to see him leave but I certainly wish him well. We will be more than fine without him.... we have several very talented young guards!

  • are they playin tag in one of the drills aha :]?

  • @moochipsahoy Yes they sure are! Tag is one of my favorite agility/conditioning drills!

  • @ZER0FLIGHT SAME HERE I PRACTICE BY MYSELF INT HE MORNING IN NYC!....DOING DRILLS ON MY OWN (IT WILL PAY OFF THOUGH)..BOUT BE A JUNIOR. WORD OF ADVICE THINK A HEAD I HELD MY SELF BACK FROM DUNKING CAUSE I NEVER REALLY BELIEVED ONCE I BELIEVED ALL OF SUDDEN 1/2 INCH FROM BANGING

  • I wish my school had practices like these. These actually look like fun conditioning drills

  • @zer0flight Thanks for your kind words. I def try to make the workouts intense, challenging... but fun!

  • "We are going for a league championship".... Having a guy named Quinn Cook sure helps!

  • @dudewat212 Yes it does!

  • Can you elaborate more on how that tag game works?

  • @jeremycoenen Put players in a confined area (like half court), pick someone to be "it", and see how many players than can tag in X amount of time (like 15 seconds).

  • all these drills are killer - except the whole throwing the playing cards in the air - thats just silly - and pretty damn gay looking.

  • @iggypot Thanks for your feedback, to each his own. Regardless of how you think the drill looks... I challenge you to come up with a better drill for hand/eye coordination and visual focus!

  • Love your stuff Coach Stein!

  • @tdreact Thanks! I appreciate the support!

  • The game of tag is a pretty simple and effective way of improving quickness. The card catch seems like very great reaction workout. Did you make it up?

  • @TheShootersTouch Yes, tag is simple... and very effective! I got the idea for card catch through something similar I saw... and then I put my own twist on it.

  • Looking good in the new colors Coach Stein! Big things expected from you at DeMatha now. Keep the clips coming.

  • Oh and one more thing Coach Stein, i've seen some of your montrose videos where they use the big heavy tires... Where do you get those?

  • @duke2be We found ours at an old junk yard!

  • Ok thank you! Appreciate the videos!

  • What exercises do you recommend for quickness training at home with limited equipment? I have heard that jump rope is good...?

  • @duke2be A jump rope is good for conditioning, but doesn't do anything to make you quicker. I suggest you look through some of the drills I have posted on this channel. For more specific stuff, I have several resources in my online shop to help you!

  • Great workout. Love the new gym. What were the white things you were tossing?

  • @bigcityballer Thanks for your support. Those were cards from a standard deck of playing cards. The drill is called the "card catch."

  • hey coach what do you think of cook and oladipo?

  • @dzonetwentyeight Both are great kids and great players. Vic will do well at Indiana... and Quinn will be the POY (again) in DC next season!
