The only thing I would say would be to 'take your time' a little more. Your accompanist is just pushing you too fast. The cadenzas are great - but you pinched off your high notes a little.
I never actually got to meet you but I've heard stories about how good you were from Wellie and Alex haha - I was a freshman in '09. That piece was fantastic! I just became trumpet section leader in the Marching Band at Urbana this year and I showed this to the trumpets today and they were wowed.
You Don't put felling on the music that you are playing man and this is soo much important. And much is obvious that you are not Spanish :D. But anyway, nice job.
Hey Ross, this is Dom. The recording itself isn't the highest quality, but I can list a couple things that may help. First off, the pitch accuracy and intonation were superb. Try to think landing on top of the note instead of coming from underneath and add even more dynamic play to this (after all, the song originates from a romantic culture). The biggest piece of advice is that your overall sound is not "laser like" yet creating muddiness on your runs. Long tone exercises are a good solution.
if you listen to rafael mendez play this... you want to make babies listening to him play, because he plays so "laser like" that he hits every note, but also he has lots of emotion with the actual melody parts like at measure 30 (i think) but still great performance... i performed this in front of my whole school and now i'm like famous lol.
Ok, after 2 mintutes I can say you are really good but lose the 14A4A. There's better equipment out there and you are way to good to be stuck using things that you have been told will work. I can't wait to here you after all the Tpt BS has been cut away because you really are good.
good playing but make it your own man. it seemed like you were just playing notes off of a page instead of creating a unique solo. this piece encourages individuality.
:D bueno ah :D

what s black on your trumpet near your mouthpiece? is it a B.E.R.P perhaps?
15MusicLove 2 years ago
Yeah, I hate them I think they are a waste, you can't just buzz your mouthpiece in you hand. but anyway this guy is quite good
selector111 2 years ago
the point of the berp is to buzz and to finger the instrument at the same time but i was required to have one in my high school band...
JacobR343 2 years ago
For what it's worth, I no longer use the BERP to mouthpiece buzz.

Um, I played this on a Curry 1 1/2 C. Why would you assume I used a 14a4a?
RossTrumpet 3 years ago
Sorry, scratch that. I played this one on a Curry 1 1/2 M. Still a much bigger mouthpiece than a 14a4a. I don't know where you got that idea from.
