actually you have another way to safe water, but during the formal tea ceremony it should be like this.
at least you enjoyed the process and the tea. many people prepared tea they don´t care about nother, so not only waste the water waste the tea, and waste money.
A very nice and clear presentation. As for the question of the kettle, what chAyuan is correct. The traditional way of cooking water with charcoal is the best, but impractical. The use of plastic, induction kettles is a concession to the modern age. Although convenient, they seriously effect water quality. One possible solution is to find a ceramic kettle that can be used on gas or electric stoves. They heat up fairly quickly and make far better water than a plastic or stainless steel kettle.
Great video. Thanks for sharing it. Could you please tell me what the boxes or in your case the circle thing is that catches the spilled water? I really really want one but I'm not even sure what they are called. Thanks :]
that is ¨electric kettle¨, well, usually it´s better to use the metal kettle, in the video i was using electric kettle but it was the plastic one. it´s very useful when making tea. In the past, chinese people using ceramic teapot but warm up the water, with charcoal, but nowadays using electric kettle it would be faster.
hello shrumpkin, the brand is "XINHAO". It is an induction cooker. About volts, you are right. Here you have some information that i found into the net:
"Voltage in the world differs for each country. Some countries like USA and Canada run on 120 volt 60 cycles (60hz) and most of the worlds run on 220/240 volt 50 cycles (50hz). This difference in the voltage can be solved by using an appropriate voltage converter". So here you have the answer.
hello, shrumpkin, the teapot in the video is the plastic electric teapot which i bought in Spain, now the one i am using is the metal electric teapot i brought from China, and it´s vitroceramic one, too much better for the tea, and easy to clean it.
i am glad that you enjoyed this video because from my part, i love this milinary chinese culture.
Hello chAyuan, Thank you so much for your replies. I too am looking for a Taiwanese metal, electric teapot; do you have any brand names you recommend? And one more question: I notice that most of these Chinese teapots are 220 volts, and not 110-120 like American voltages. Does this make a difference? I would hate to buy a teapot and have it explode!...lol. Thank you. Please keep up the great work. I will be ordering tea from the website soon.

hi, it depends on oneself. Maybe for you is too much time, but not for everybody. Also you should know that this way of preparation has long tradition in China and also depending on the tea you should do it for a nice result. Try doing like that...!!!
When I was in New York's China town, a Chinese woman was kind enough to perform this same tea ceremony for me. I was informed by her that the continuous re-poring of the tea was to "Wake the Tea" in order to get the tea to have just the right hue, aroma, and taste. Thank you for posting this video, it brings back fond memories for me and will aid me in performing this tea ceremony properly.
thanks, each tea is a world. But it's true that for Oolong the first brew is to awake the tea and then depending on the way of preparation the secon or even the third brew is the best one. This depends on each type of Oolong. Most of the Oolong is manufactured in the south east of china and also used for the tea ceremoy and social live. Enjoy practicing "cha dao"!!
hey i got something to ask you if it is ok. just what type of tea is good. i can tell ou the names of the tea i have. China Black Tea, Tikuanyin Tea, Oolong Tea, Lung Ching Tea, yunnan Tea, and Jasmine Tea. which one is good from those one's i got in chinatown n the west edmonton mall in edmonton. and just to tell you where edmonton is. it's in alberta canada.

goku178, it is very difficult to response you which type of tea is better, because each of them has the different fabric process, the taste, the scente is very different. for example, the same Long Jing will have 7 levels and with different flush, there are people enjoy the 2006 flush and there are people prefer the 2007 flush. To choose your tea is better first try the taste, and then you will know which taste you enjoy more.finally tks for your comments.
this is such a waste of water
