  • some nice cooking trombone there.

  • amazing I play too- Eric is a great guy, iv had the pleasure of meeting him

AND I WAS THERE!!!!-tjcarlton3, do you in the jazz band for Oak/McCaluiffe/Los al? I play lead alto for Oak middle school and we played there in '07

  • I WAS there!

I wish Eric's Solo on "play that funky music" was up here! he hit an A twice over the staff

  • an A? not too difficult

  • nnnnnnnnnnnnutz lol is it me or does his sax's neck look..... straighter than usual ones? maybe I'm drunk lol

  • It's a n alto saxophone, as opposed to a tenor.

  • duh, I kno that.. I play too. but I meant like.. it heads UP more from the neck receiver, you know? more like a soprano neck, at a less of an angle from the body? and I'm supposing it's he's own preference.. something to do with a straighter of an airflow.

  • u are fucking high dip shit

  • wow burger1113 i think you are drunk

  • I will say Eric Marienthal is amazing. I also play saxophone and he is one of my favorites, the guy plays everything!

  • hahah my dads the percussionist the guys standing up behind the soloists

  • Some people need to check Marienthal out on the GRP band "Sister Sadie" and his other solos with Gordon Goodwin on songs like "Get In Line." This solo is unbelievably hard too, its amazing how well they play it. Chord Changes every 2 beats to weird keys.

  • these charts are some of the best on the planet and anyone that think that eric or andy cant play is a retard. go get your ears checked. gordon is the best big band writter and arranger on the planet today. that band is sick!!

  • the players are certainly incredibly technically accomplished and its the best studio band in the world for accuracy but i dont think goodwin is the best arranger. if you compare these charts to a buddy rich chart like timecheck theres no contest.

  • thats because playing the same changes more or less leads you to similar ideas

  • Eric Marienthal came to my school today.

Unfortunately he worked with the senior jazz band, so we just watched. But it was still pretty cool

  • wow some people are dumbshits huh? you must be a retard if it all sounds the same to you.

  • its interesting... both player's sound similar in this chart, aka Andy martin has similar sounding solos each time he plays this chart. However there are always changes, always little things that make each sound unique.

  • lineskiier-

Dont take out your fustration over not being talanted enough to understand/play these charts out on the BPB. I'd like to see you write a chart even close to as amazing as goodwins.

  • Was just about to stop this clip and then Andy Martin takes over. Lovely stuff!

  • That is pretty amazing. The Big Phat Band is the best. Eric Marienthal is an amazing saxophone player, and one of my idols as well.

  • yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • amazing!!!! this is the best Jazz band of our generation, and andy martin is one of my idols... thanks for posting!!!
