duh, I kno that.. I play too. but I meant like.. it heads UP more from the neck receiver, you know? more like a soprano neck, at a less of an angle from the body? and I'm supposing it's he's own preference.. something to do with a straighter of an airflow.

While I dont want to see big band completely die out, I admitt, very boring. Ya, These charts teach you alot on music and improvising, but most of them are plain boring to listen to (but yes, sometimes fun to play) and also makes a flat performance in my opinion.
Some people need to check Marienthal out on the GRP band "Sister Sadie" and his other solos with Gordon Goodwin on songs like "Get In Line." This solo is unbelievably hard too, its amazing how well they play it. Chord Changes every 2 beats to weird keys.
these charts are some of the best on the planet and anyone that think that eric or andy cant play is a retard. go get your ears checked. gordon is the best big band writter and arranger on the planet today. that band is sick!!
the players are certainly incredibly technically accomplished and its the best studio band in the world for accuracy but i dont think goodwin is the best arranger. if you compare these charts to a buddy rich chart like timecheck theres no contest.
its interesting... both player's sound similar in this chart, aka Andy martin has similar sounding solos each time he plays this chart. However there are always changes, always little things that make each sound unique.
Dont take out your fustration over not being talanted enough to understand/play these charts out on the BPB. I'd like to see you write a chart even close to as amazing as goodwins.
some nice cooking trombone there.

Eric Marienthal came to my school today.
Unfortunately he worked with the senior jazz band, so we just watched. But it was still pretty cool
