I lived in Santa Cruz '75 -'87. Most radical experience surfing I ever had was right where this was shot. Only it was massive walls of whitewater Feb. '83. My bro the late "Dangerous" Dan Pelton and I walked almost to Sewers and fought our way out finally getting out off the Hook. There were hundreds of people on the cliff watching and we were the only two guys out. I caught a macker and rode to Sharks Cove where everyone was surfing. It was perfect down to Capitola some rides past the pier.

i'm 11, and for us floridian surfers, this would be epic. my dads friend went up there last year and he was freaking out. there was a chest high glassy groundswell and some surfers were thinking about not going out.

yeah, santa cruz has at least 12 surfspots from beginnner to advanced. there are waves everywhere and its very rare for the whole town to be flat. im so privilaged to live here because i can surf good waves all the time!
