His expression changing at 0:50 is probably the most true human feeling I've ever seen on TV or in movies. Confusion into realization into sadness, and then a cover-up smile. John C. McGinley is easily one of the best actors of our time.
this episode was done perfectly, were you have no idea what happend untill the very end and when you think about it you see it, I mean he cant be the first paind JD lost Dr Cox took a big offend to it and no one reacted to what Ben did only Cox THIS is good writing on TV
That episode has a reference to Tintin. Pause this video at 0:50, when JD asks Cox "Where do you think we are"? It's identical to a scene from a Tintin album, even the trees behind them. Type on google: tintin where do you think we are?
This show is an example of pure genius. Scrubs is one of the only tv shows that can portray real human emotion and life experiences that literally everyone can relate to. This tv show not only brings me much joy and entertainment to watch, but i can honestly say that because of this show i have become a better, more sincere person and i couldn't be more grateful.
"But in the end the most important thing to accept is that no matter how alone you feel, how painful it may be, with the help of those around you...you'll get through this too."
this episode is so fantastic, it´s sad and sometimes funny, an the story, that dr. cox. imagine bens alive and thinks he is on the birthday party of his son is so... i have no words^^ sry for my bad english ;)
In my opinion, Scrubs goes drastically downhill from season 5 onwards. Seasons 1 to 4 were pure gold, but it just gets stupid, and that episode with the baptism? Like what the fuck was that about... Plus J.D. turns from weird funny guy to just the biggest douche. Goes from good programme to spineless programme just trying to get cheap laughs.
This is my favourite scene from all scrubs, very moving, great episode (from a great season).
i disagree, i think that all the seasons are amazing and while the first 3 were indeed the best i would never say that the show got worse, just different. because the show focuses on the emotions and feelings of the characters it got more dramatic so there were fewer jokes. less funny maybe but still a powerful show
"In the end, the most important thing to except is that no matter how alone you feel, how painful it may be, with the help of those around you, you'll could get through this, too."
That's my eighth grade quote dedicated to Ben... R.I.P
when ever doctor cox is sad it makes everyone whos watching it sad like when he cries in this and the part where dr cox's organ transplant patients go horribly wrong plus the commentary by JD makes it even more sadder
who ever plays Dr. Cox is definitely the best actor on the show. Any scene where he shows contempt for others, which is quite a few, is hilarious. And any scene where he displays sadness always is a potential tear-jerker
wow...just a trivial note, I just realized that on the show, bens funeral was on Jack's birthday. 3 seasons later, Cox's second child is born on the day Lavern dies...anyone else notice this????
it reminds me of the funeral when one of my best friends dies. He shot his friend in the head and after that he shot himself in the throat... they knew being gay would never be accepted by their parents and so they've chosen to be together forever that way. that happened in 1997 - Rest in Peace Bergo
this makes me really upset tbh i remember watching it for the first time and it making me cry i will never forget this episode it was probably one of the best out of the series
In addition,Perry told jd about not going to a party when the most concerned person doesn't know about it,and you might think he was talking about his son's bithday, but he talks about ben's funeral
For OMGAnime => at the begining of the épisode,Perry told jd about an old man "he is not gonna die in the next 20 minutes" and he left(in the french version,so it can be a bit different in us one). When he came back,jd told him "he died 20 minutes after you have left"he was actualy talking about ben and not about the old man
This is one of my favorite episdoes, but I have a question. When exactly did Ben die? I'm a bit confused. Ben was alive throughout the whole episode, then at the end you find out he's dead.
I'm sorry!!! I really don't get this episode. I was watching it the other day.. so was he dead the whole time and dr. cox was just imagining him because he was in denial?
he was dead pretty much the whole time. near the beggining cox says "you still gonna be an annoying.... that takes pictures of everthing" and that guy replies "till the day i die" you dont see him with a camera from there. i noticed that the 2nd time i watched it.
I saw this episode for the 50th time last night and for the first time in ages of watching it i was nearly in tears it's one of the saddest episodes ever. The music really adds to the sadness as well. I LOVE SCRUBS
In this episode Ben comes but dies whilst he is there and Dr Cox thinks that he is still alive and that he isn't going to die and that he will be able to take pictures at Jack's(Cox's son' birthday, He only finally accepts Ben has died when he was walking through the grave yard which he thinks is a park and when JD asks him 'Pictures of what' and 'Where do you think we are' Cox finally accepts that Ben has died.
if u wanted 2 make me and my pregnant girlfriend cry u suceeded i love this show n i ave missed loads of episodes damn it cox rules he is such a gr8 actor any1 seen him in platoon? thanx 4 posting sniff sniff
This is a great clip. I had to let the comments on this remind that these guys are actors, otherwise I'd be sad for a week. I'm still sad, but now I'm also impressed by the performances of these guys.
I didnt realize that Ben was dead until this part the first time, this is why I love this show, its so good at making you care about the characters lives.
This is my Favorite Episode. Right up there with "My Lunch". It's absolutely Beautiful. I think these are one of those scenes that prove that Scrubs isn't just another sitcom.
This scene can make you be more upset and cry more in 2 minutes than most sad movies can in 90.. Truly brilliant !
