The ex-Manchester United midfielder is said to be mulling over a £130,000-a-week contract to play under Roberto Mancini, his former team-mate, at Eastlands.

Veron, now captain of his hometown team Estudiantes in La Plata, played alongside Mancini at both Sampdoria and Lazio.

He has refused to commit himself on his future but, presumably with that in mind, Barcelona are looking at options for the future. Henry has been linked with a move to Manchester City - because only they would be prepared to pay his huge wages. But even they have their eyes on younger options.
