In this song she seems to go beyond even her own capacity for conveying emotion, as if she's chanelling something other-wordly. It's like the song's been waiting for her to sing it and will never need to be sung again.
When she sang "I get weary, sick of trying, I'm tired of living, but scared of dying" It gave me goosebumps. It's like when she sang that she was screaming it to us, through song. It was a shame she passed. I would've liked to here more singers sing this kind of music growing up today, but I'm afraid that not many have the power and emotion to put it into songs from back then like they did.
I was just five years old when Ms. Garland passed on and I live in the Philippines. I should have no connection at all to her. Yet when she sings, I feel as if she were personally telling me a story--a tale made compelling because of this woman's scintillating interpretation. What a wonderful human being for sharing her talent so unselfishly.
I like how she's scaled this performance for maximum dramatic impact. She was such a consummate old pro. The early verses may seem underplayed, but watch her face for clues to where she's going to take the song. She was an extraordinary actress.
oh my god, I don't really like the song itself but I personally think this is thee best performance she ever gave, this is amazing. It feels like my heart is being ripped out when I hear this, SO fkn powerful. No words to describe this! <3 <3 <3
I always feel so sad when the camera looks up at her. You can see the sadness and fear. This is one of my favorite performances by her and the quality is amazing. I just love Judy's voice and her ability to pour her emotion into a song. A brilliant talent indeed.

Sinatra includes the verse to great effect, however Judy's rendition is by far the most telling. Ty for the post!
