  • I'S GEORGE !

  • @philippines1987 Search "degaussing coil" at ebay.com

  • has anyone used the crt tv degaussing tube with the green plastic cover? I just purchased it, and I plugged it in an outlet and pointed it towards the screen, attempted to go in circles and move away from the screen but nothing has happened. I did press the button while attempting to degauss. I was wondering if the tool itself is broken or if I'm doing something incorrectly or if I have to take off the green plastic cover. Any help would be appreciated.

  • @xkhan Is that the $3.99 ebay item that is shaped like a power strip? I'm not familiar with that type. Looking at the picture of that item, I think the green cover should stay intact. Best wishes.

  • DA FUCK?!!?!

  • whats the name of that circular thing ? my old tv as that problem and i could use one to fix it

  • @JOSIAO123 Degaussing coil. See box at 0:14. Good luck

  • Thanks a lot man it works with the car speakers magnet too

  • The PTC thermistor for degaussing is part of the degaussing circuitry in a CRT TV. The component usually has the shape of a cube. Search "PTC degaussing" on google image search and you'll see pictures of it. Usually it is either black or white in colour and it usually has either 2 or 3 legs. If you find exactly where the degaussing coil (the coil around the picture tube) connects to the tv main-board, the PTC should be in that area. As for price, they are cheap to buy.

  • Can anyone please explain the theory behind degaussing? What exactly causes the colors to get distorted in the first place, and what is happening during the degaussing? And one more thing; Can a CRT TV be degaussed while it's turned off?

  • I want a magic hula hoop for x-mas. That is pretty cool though :)

  • my tv has been coloured with corner, please help me?

  • i have a question my tv is really dark and i turned up the brightness on it all the way but its still way too dark would this work or would i have to replace the tube inside of it?????

  • You just need to change the PTC. It is found close to the fuse inside the TV. It's just a small, squarish component, usually with 3 legs. It went bad, that's why the degaussing circuit inside the TV is not working.

  • @scorpie2007 Nerd

  • @scorpie2007 please tell me what the PTC is and what is the approximate price. I tried looking this up on the internet and I got "parental television council" which is not the name of a part. Hitachi says it doesnt have a lamp, which would have been easy, but they told me it is probably CRT'S which are too expensive and not available. but they control colors and my problem is too dark like wayne scott. Anyway thanks for the help

  • great video exatly what i need were could i find one of those?

  • Precariously placed picture box!

  • I NEED ONE

  • lol retard alert

  • @claudgtaforum Or you can hook up an HDTV reciever to a non-HDTV via non-HD connection!

    My Sky+HD box has a non-HD RGB Scart output ;) .

  • Would you folks know anything about reviving a CRT TV's dead picture tube?

If so, it'd future-proof CRT TVs!

  • THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!! I did it and the tv it's fixed

  • that was pretty awesome

  • SEINFELD!!! oh boy

  • Is that Seinfield?

  • amazing.....

  • Take it off the speaker. Over time it may get messed up again on top of the speaker.

    but good job degaussing it

  • ya keep degaussing while you watch it sitting on a speaker with a huge permanent magnet in it...forget it ... NASA is laying people off

  • resolder the degaussing thermistor.

  • SEINFELD ROCKS

  • YOU ARE GENIUS!

  • i did that but with a very strone magnetic ball :D

    Thnx again.

  • Thank goodness, you saved Seinfeld AND your TV!

  • Magnets WILL fuck up your tv.

  • @Alansr10 i was just wondering what is the devices name?

  • i had to magnets and i put them both up to the tv the whole screen was green then i put the magnets to the tv again and went all the way into the left bottoom cornor it pulled al the green into that area making the screen better then before it was only in the corner now so i turned it off for about 20 minutes and it was gone TRY IT IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I am glad to see you fix that TV instead of throwing it away. I had a 20" JVC with the same problem and it was saved from the trash.

  • do you know where you could buy them

  • Local Thrift Stores and Pawn Shops sell all types of TVs

  • where did you get it

  • It's incredible just how long this technology stayed with us throughout the ages. Even though plasma LCD's are becoming more affordable, I don't think these will be disappearing anytime soon.

  • @crazy4sian

Sadly they will and it's not because we want them to, but because the big companies like Sony (who strangely has no LCD tech of their own) are forcing LCD down our throats by discontinuing CRTs even though there is still a demand for them in an attempt to make more $.

  • I've heard that's bad for televisions.

  • its ur only choice if you have an old tv...... especially if you have kids that like to stick magnets on the tv lol

  • Is it safe to have speakers twelve inches away from a TV? I own a Pansonic CR-TV, and am going to have to degauss it cuz i had my small stereo speakers too close to it. Just wondering if my idea is safe for the TV.

  • Thank you for posting this video. Did you pick this degausser at Radioshack by chance? I have checked their website for the cheapest degausser to no avail. Ebay has some on their site. What would be the going rate for a tool like this? Thank you.

  • HES A WITCH!!

  • LETS STONE HIM!

  • ROFL Seinfeld. Good repair video.

  • Cool
