It actually happened. It wasn't a commercial. It's called a flash mob and people do them all the time. They had two rehearsals then did this. Check out the Frozen Grand Central Station vid, pretty cool.

This could well be true where you are Bravehart10000... - however..

I know that in places like UK/Aus/New Zealand you have to have permission. Also, you NEED consent forms from everyone in the video (or their face gets blurred). - You can get around it though with a sign that says something like "Filming in progress.. by entering you agree to be filmed"

It is, you don't even need permission. As long as the people running the location of the event don't as you to leave, it can't be called trespassing.

The more mob-like events(large fights, even only with pillows) need to be checked in so police forces can be there if things get out of hand. The dancing ones, however, don't really need to be checked in.

...along with the "real" reaction shots were enough to give the video that documentary feel. The choregraphy is especially spectacular...kudos...I just wish it wasn't as big...you could have had better "real life" moments...a video like this is all about the reaction from the people, but when most are actually involved it ends up feeling a bit false.

I love this video, but as a filmmaker I keep on trying to think of how they did it. Obviously they had the permission of the train station (that much is obvious). Now, nearly everyone in the train station becomes a dancer...so the reaction shots are also from those involved (cool, but less authentic). This I'm sure is a busy staion, yet when the dance is all said and done, their seems to be very few onlookers. Maybe it was done it the early morning and the manufactured "reaction shots"...
